Umm not to be dirty or get anyone going but you do know what this really looks like? Other than that love it! Makes me think of doing something more long term with clear resin and casting different shapes to light up.

I thought it looked phallic as well. Resin casting with lights would look awesome, especially with different shades of colour and specks through the resin.

I replaced all my 100w florescent lights with 4 meter .2w white LED
strips. much better over all lighting. I used 12V computer power
supplies. The best installation is over stairs. They run up the entire
stair way even lighting. I leave my strips totally exposed. No heat
problem.

Being old school analog type of guy i missed the micro processor. About the only thing iv done is play with the blink program using arduino nano. Man learning C is difficult. Mastering C would open up endless new projects but as the saying goes " aint nobody got time for that "

no. these are called neopixels or ws2812b led strip. Search them on youtube to know more about it

Did alike with a clean atTiny24 a while ago (why 24? Because I had some around :P) running internal 8 MHz to reduce the part count (ASM code and no Arduino, of course). Although a much smaller core, the Asm (and the clean code with no library/loader clutter) makes a true difference here (much higher framerates, an actual lighting program instead of just scrolling the stuff - and I went as far as the transmit-time color LUTs, so the color schemes are much more interesting). Sucks I only managed two 256-color LUTs (couldn't fit more), tho got smooth-activated full-on and full-off modes :P

Capacitor?, so many electronic master does not recommend that arduino nano supply the volts from USB directly
At 6:41 you see that the LED strip is not powered from the Arduino.
It's powered from the USB socket and I suppose the Arduino is in parallel, or perhaps even in series after the strip.
But it should be parallel in my opinion.
