Im 26 turning 27 and i find your videos very insightful. Ive recently moved to Cyprus from London, but was attempting to take up boxing after tearing my hamstring when participating in athletics. Definitely going to download that e-book of yours.
I use your videos to train (just fitness), but the fighting analyses increased my understanding and enjoyment of watching fights 10X. I can watch a fight now and see what each of the boxers is trying to do and how they're trying to do it. Thanks for all your work.
I liked you either way and believe you are the most cerebral boxing coach on RUclips BUT calling Fury the most boring heavyweight fighter made me like you even more, Fran. Much love from Greece, you're helping people blossom into better fighters and I've personally learned a lot from you. Wish I'd have someone as sharp and open minded as you as a coach. Oh well, RUclips will suffice for now... Much love!
I never would have recognized the similarity to Mayweather with the layback. I am on the Mayweather workout this month and this really helps me understand the layback jab. Great video.
Great analysis. I would also mention the fact that he has one of the highest knock out rates. It was 92% at one point but that might have changed towards the end of his career, even higher than Rocky Marciano. I feel the analysis didn’t quite do justice to the power he brought to bear, which combined with his prudence, makes an effective synthesis, which I highly appreciate despite being the exact opposite kind of boxer, aggressive, wading forward, weight 50/50 or slightly on the forward leg, and not bladed but square, lots of flank stepping lateral movement, switching stances ambidextrous ad lib, which necessarily costs more energy and legwork but movement is life, close range knock outs, knock outs with slips, knock outs with rolls, hooks, uppercuts, and drives. I don’t like Klitchko’s style, I always felt one armed boxers are easy to finish, just circle bait and time him right then go in, tigers kill alligators by circling, foxes kill cranes by circling, mongoose kills cobras by circling, one armed long ranged bombers are two dimensional tyrants and three dimensional sitting ducks.
Hi Mr sands thanks for the video I was just wondering if you could do a Joe Frazier style analysis and whether it would work today if you can thanks very much
Excellent video - as a 6’5” tall amateur boxer Klitschko’s style lends itself to me naturally. I especially like the points you’re making about fight intelligence & risk management! QQ - how would Klitschko defend if someone tries to get in low and quick to try and overcome his defensive order and pressure with uppercuts?
I noticed I naturally have a stance like Wladimir, in terms of stance. Cool to see a break down! I'm a natural righty but feel more comfortable as a southpaw, my lead hand is my stronger hand so it's usually out mid range. I'll practice the jab, pull back, jab a lot! I'm a novice boxer, but love the style of Wlad, Dmitry Bivol & other eastern European boxers.
You Should Study Naseem Hamed too ! He was a Right Hander fighting out of the southpaw stance that would switch back & forth from orthodox (Which was his first stance he learned as a kid) & southpaw. His Coach, “Brendan Ingle” coached his students to fight in orthodox, southpaw And completely-Squared up stance (ALMOST like the Cus D’Amato style of Footwork & Angle-Shifting) But coach Brendan ingle taught his fighters to fight with hands completely down & dancing around switching stances(which CAN be dangerous, UNLESS you have a coach to work you into that style, & successfully use it in Sparring) I understand not everyone loves Naseem Hameds Style/Arrogance, BUT his fighting methods were brutally effective, he was ORIGINALLY an “orthodox” right handed fighter, then (once he mastered using the southpaw stance) he would trick his opponents into thinking he’s a Natural southpaw, Jabbing with the right hand & pulling out of range, taunting his opponents, & once they lunged in out of Anger, & over reach , he would swiftly step into his “Original” orthodox stance to counter his opponents with a Check Left Hook, from the orthodox stance OR a Rear/Right Cross out of the orthodox stance. Brilliant stuff
1:50 - you seem to be misinformed here. Soviet union boxers weren't allowed to turn pro up until 1992 or so. When they were allowed to, it's didn't take too long until they've began to dominate professional boxing. In the past 10 years they've been dominant throughout all divisions.
Great video! I wonder if he had a significantly different style before his earlier knockout losses. His defence improved because of those losses, but ultimately he lost his final two fights partly because of that risk averse style. I remember against Eddie Chambers Manny Steward really told Wlad off for refusing to finish Chambers and being too happy to win without taking any risks. But it's really easy to say that from the keyboard. Even smaller hw guys like chambers, povetkin and haye could still pack a big punch. And against joshua it was a surprise AJ got a second wind, so it wasn't the worst idea to not go all in in the 6th.
Dunno you know. Is Smith in the same category as Saunders and Groves? Eubank Jr came up well short against those fellas and Smith is better most of Eubank's recent opponents. Can box a bit Smith but can be a slow starter and Eubank is naturally bigger and stronger I reckon. I'd probably edge for Eubank.
@@myboxingcoach I think Smith has a much better brain, Eubank has a tank, and he can have a tare up but he comes unstuck with lads that can box and move. I hope Smith wins, can't stand Eubank.

Brilliantly explained, klitscho was awesome fighter. Both of them

Thank you coach. I have long arms so I want to practice like someone who uses this build for the better.
He was my favorite boxer when i was kid, now im grow up to 6.5 and using same style as his
Hello coach, wishing you all the best for 2023. Thank you for taking the time and effort to produce your videos. I've learnt so much from you
Thank you
Thanks, I learned today during sparing that I don't use my size so well. So I'm now trying to convert this style into a kickboxing version

Thanks pal, that's a great result, noce to know I've helped you see beneath the surface👍

Great video Fran, I am the smae height as klitschko. Looking to use this style to my advantage!

Good stuff, thanks William. Always nice recognising these patterns
Great analysis.

Another great video thanks 👍👍
Great summary I learned a lot!
To sum up Klitschko - if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
Yep, that's pretty much it

Vamos! Fran is the man! 🤜🤛
Gracias Jose!
Excellent video Coach!!
Appreciate it, thanks pal
Much appreciated coach
Always quality content!! Can your team and you can work on a video of roy jones jr please?
Tysm for doing a video on this
No problem, thank you
Could you make a video on smothering punches, as well as Floyd Patterson and Henry Armstrong’s styles respectively? It’d be a great help to me.
Henry Armstrong, what a boxer. On my list👍
@@myboxingcoach thank you sir

Excellent
Nice breakdown. You mention that the extended left hand leaves you open for a 'left hook over the top'. Don't you mean the right hook?
Nice video
Great coach. He knows his craft.
Thank you 👍

It was a good defensive strategy he didn’t get hit that much in over a decade
Very true
I wonder how the Fran Sands style is
He was 2m tall and 110kg, and powerfull enough to knock you down from his jab. I wondered if his style is usable by smaller boxer🥊
Can you do a video on Evander Holyfield?
What a fighter👍
Hi mate. Can u do Nicolino Locche
What a fighter, will put him on the list 👍
@@myboxingcoach cheers mate, a breakdown of Bernard Hopkins sneaky skills would be a good one too
Sebastian Fundora - another v tall fighter!
Can you do one on Floyd Mayweather please?
Thank you very much sir for your time and devotion to promote boxing education globally.
Regards🙏🙏
You're very welcome, thanks for watching and for the positve feedback

100% agree Klicko vs Fury was the worst HW fight ever
Miguel Cotto boxing style
👍😎
