We've come so far, socially..... My grand father couldn't admit he had emotions, my dad handled his emotions by drinking, but now I'm watching two publicly-known, male entertainment professionals honestly discussing and being well versed and self aware about emotions, mental health, and social interactions. It's soooooooo damned beautiful. Thank you for doing this - you have a specific audience and this sets such a good tone for us.
@@samanthab1923 I enjoyed it, the whole thing was kinda awkward lol but that might be the nature of doing that pod as a live show. Joe didn't strike me as dead air

Sam is one of the best standups right now. "Same Time Tomorrow" was the best special I have seen in some time. Every time I see him on a podcast he's a great guest! Can't wait to see who else you get on here, Neal.
As a single dude with the same views on relationships and love, that part of the conversation made me so happy and comfortable with my choices. Loving this pod so much. Every episode has been such a pleasure to listen to.
As a human woman, same. The qualifier "single" feels stupid to use. In an actually relevant context, like to someone inquiring if you're available and interested in dating/fucking them, sure, use "single", but other than that it's odd.
What I love about this podcast is my ability to relate to it. Neal Brennan talks about topics on life that hit really close to home and the guests are always amazing! It’s like a therapy session I never thought I needed. Much love! ♥️
Favorite episode so far😀! Sam Morrill is one of the best comics out there. No one can work a crowd like him. Love the question of choosing your own biopic 😌
Did not know much about Sam oustide of the bits of stand up I’ve watched. So it was great to learn a bit more about him. Came off really nice and hard working in this conversation with Neal. Really love that this is a podcast where the comedians actually come off a bit more relaxed, reflective and mellow while talking. Compared to the ones where it can get a bit more loud, fast talking, interrupting and hyper. This gives a great balance to that kind of comedian podcast. Feels like I learn more about the ppl behind the comedy in this form. Thumbs up.
Love both formats, loud and obnoxious or cool and collected. I do enjoy the humanization Neal puts on them though. You look at these people and think they must be titans- aloof from the rigors and tribulations us poor normies feel. But no. They're just as human and just as emotional as we are. 😮
Of course Sam has a good story, he's got thousands of people watching him talk about life on his podcasts every week! He's accomplished so much comedically, but he has also shared deep and insightful things about his life and his perspectives on the world.
Too many comedian's specials were picked up by platforms because they has some personal attribute that the buyer's imagine had some kind of built in audience demographic. They did Sam a favor by passing and not forcing him into their mold, which got him to build his own following that isn't dependent on some suit's whim. i hope he wears that as a badge of honor and continues to put out material that is much smarter than most of his peers.
Another fantastic interview. Looking forward to next week! And...... its time....... It's time to release the full podcast music. The people have spoken.
Good stuff Neal. I have to prepare myself mentally before WATCHING your podcast. I can only imagine what your guests have to do! Good stuff Sam. I am sorry to have missed the ATL show. To a friend I was: "Oh man I gotta go look - I know Sam's coming to town soon, like REAL soon I think - like two days ago."
Sam Morril has an excellent voice for voice over work and he looks like Clooney's little brother. Neal read my fan letter about religion on HNF right before it ended. I asked if he would believe me if I told him I felt the presence of God. They didn't make fun of me, thankfully, but I would love to ask him the question again now that he believes in a God.
Around the 30:33 mark is so goddamn true. Reminds me of Frank Turner, a great singer songwriter commenting on playing music, "This shit wasn't fashionable when I fell in love, when the hipsters move on, why should I give a fuck?!".
The algorithm has a twisted sense of humour man. Sam was just giving his painful recollection of meeting his biological dad, when an ad popped up for Go Daddy. 😂
Single 4 life? Best example IMO? Lewis Black and Kathleen Madigan; awesome comics/performers/casters, best buds, both have inquiring minds and a curiosity for life, active and appear to be happy single🤗. Keep your foundations solid, your networks fed, and step out of the comfort zone once in a while. Life well lived! Connections are connections-with or without marriage.🤗✨💖
47:45 - on one of his podcasts Sam definitely mentioned a casino gig he did recently where he randomly bumped into one of his friends at the tables, and now it's killing me that I can't remember who it was because he's using him as the prime example of "friends not to get advice from" here. He probably doesn't remember that he already mentioned this incident and mentioned the person by name on his podcast.
i think neal may be low searching for a comedian to make a movie about with that who plays you and whats the arc question he asks them all...if so cant wait if not why not

Sam's biopic story: troubled youth who got in with the wrong crowd early rekindles relationship with his estranged father on the basis of therapy but finds out that he doesn't really need this connection after all, because his real family and friends are his comedy community. i actually think it would be cooler if Sam's character was played by George Clooney ca 1995/1996 who could pull of the lovable and charming rogue who also hits with one liners but is somehow forever single despite many women falling for him. It's basically a re-tread of Joe List's movie in that it is about a comedian's struggle with his dad (and family) but it's also more sexy and cooler as it's more urbane and has the flair of Sam's jewish background/family - and all the injokes that come with the territory.
