    HOW does that dog sit so patiently and beautifully for all of that fussing and hair pulling?!?!?!?! My tender skinned border collie will barely let me go through him with a wide tooth comb after a couple hair pulls on mats in his coat! I guess this mom is just a wimp, lol.

    Unless matted or rolled in something bad , collies very rarely need bathing and grooming
    Our collie is 3 and has had maybe 6 baths most from rolling in fox poop
    And beach visit or rainy walks is all he needs (smooth/shorthair collie)

    • @gofetchgrooming
      @gofetchgrooming  2 месяца назад

      All dogs shouldn’t be bathed very often as it ruins the natural oils in the coat. Short coats are so much easier to maintain than longer coated Collies, they basically maintain themselves, you made the right choice 😂

    • @gofetchgrooming

      He’s lovely isn’t he! That’s just the colour of the fur sadly. You can thin the hair slightly to try and reduce the look but not much you can do about it unfortunately! It’s definitely very annoying! 😄

    Awesome!! Did you wash her twice with shampoo? If so, do you normally do that with all dogs? And what is Banish?

    • @gofetchgrooming
      @gofetchgrooming  Год назад +3

      Yep all dogs get two shampoos as I find just one doesn’t make the coat super clean, which is what you need to leave a good finish! Banish is a company specialising in dematting/high conditioning sprays, shampoos and conditioners. The best products I’ve found for loosening any matts!

    probably one of the best grooming vids I've seen, would have been more helpful to be able to explain the scissors and where and what you were doing. Was still very helpful and the pup looked gorgeous at the end. Great job!

      You have no idea how close minded you are, really.. Mine found me, and I was a cat person forever. She's paid for and loves her farm/beach life. Didn't know how lucky i was either. Had no idea, she's the best friend Ive ever had.

      I have a Brusky, Border Collie Husky mix, She was a rez dog and I am her second owner. We go for long off leash walks, she keeps an eye on everyone on the street and I know that I will never have an intruder without being warned by her! She has a good life and She has been the best friend I have. She is full of love and fun!. It would be interesting to see her around sheep! I love her more than I ever thought I would. What a privilege to share life with my sweetie :D

      My border collies job is to take care of me as much as i take care of her and i don’t think she has any complaints. We are at each others side 24/7 and i don’t think either of us would choose anything different. She is the smartest animal I’ve ever met and to reduce a breed to only what they are “bred for” disregards the dynamic range of traits and abilities different breeds have. Would you feel the same about any huskies that are not trained to pull sleds?

    • @gofetchgrooming
      @gofetchgrooming  9 месяцев назад

      Thank you 😊 Equipment used:
      Oscar Frank Firm Slicker Brush
      Metal Comb
      Roseline Thinning Shears (to thin out matting around bum)
      30 blade for pads
      10 blade for hygiene area
      Heiniger Saphir Clippers
      The Banish detangle spray is brilliant, you spray it over the matts and tease the knots out with a slicker brush then comb. If you have a blaster (dryer) then blasting the detangle spray through the coat before brushing can help too.
      If the coat is truly pelted to the skin and the steps before don’t work then you’ll have no option but to shave back and start again unfortunately ☹️
