    At least this frame is still available in a rim brake version, and in the preferable direct mount style. Disc brakes are complete overkill for a lightweight road bike. Btw, I've been using YBN chains with my Campagnolo equipped bike for a year now. They work great, and are a better value than the KMC chain that I was previously using. Great to see you back making videos, Joe. Hope you're well.

      @@ChinaCycling Not surprised its going so well. WS marketing has done an excellent job in the past 12 months or so, clever to send products to youtube reviewers which has really boosted interest here in Aus. Keep up the great work, but I really enjoyed your reviews on chinese parts particularly what was poor vs high quality. Prices of mainstream components in Aus have been insane for 2 years so never a better time to explore off brand gear that works and lasts.

  • @SinCityCycling702
    @SinCityCycling702 3 года назад +3

    Completely agree with you on the direct mount brakes. I used direct mount 105 on my unbranded road bike build. I honestly think that they feel better than the Dura Ace 9100 rim brakes on my other bike. That are the normal single mount. Thanks for the video. I've actually been looking at the Winspace frames for my next build.

    • @ChinaCycling

    However, I had a different purchasing experience than you. I’m totally unsatisfied along the journey since I convinced with all the reviews from your channel and decided to purchase frameset from local dealer. First, it was taking them 2months to arrive but I heard from them usually it takes only 2-3 weeks. I can feel that the dealer literally want to push for one size XS for stock clearance. I already told him many times I owned a Caad12 in size 48 (geo similar to size 47 for SLC 2.0) and size work for me too. The first shipment is scheduled at mid Feb but he claimed the manufacturer didn’t ship the size S and keep pushing me for size XS again. I insist.
    Finally, the frames has arrived last Friday, I go and pick it up. I immediately sent the frames to my mechanic for bike setup. They have identified several serious quality issues, which could lead to unsafe. So, they are refrain from setting up for me. First, there is no gap between fork and frames even we have inserted the bearing as provided. Each is touching with each other. Also the bearing has 45 degree angle which the fork is in L shape. It is not evenly taking the load and impact which may causing the crack. Next, the hole for place the bearing is much larger than the edge of the bearing. It is not fitted and it may causing the bearing moving around and damaging the frame. The same issue we found on the upper headset, the surface to hold the is not flat. There is a certificate tag signed and chop by the Winspace Ltd. How can such problems persisted and what are they QA dept doing??? I and really concern with other buyers. Please be cautious before you decide to buy anything from the company. Please refer to the link for the video and picture which would give you more solid convince about my statement. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Qf9crxip0IfbN-5_bmW10LIZXjwbbfIp?usp=sharing . For those who thinks the cankset is great, please read this. I owned a 2nd gen skypivot crank and the metal piece which the pedals are mounted to broke free of the crank body on one of my training ride, there have been dozens of similar cases reported, it is a total death trap. The company-incolor, despite knowing the problem, they did nothing to warn users of the later versions, and their customer service is so lame even in China. Hard to imagine after-sell in overseas market....

I have never bought anything on AliExpress, but it always comes across to me as a bit like the wild west. I don't wanna recommend a particular seller in case their service is less than stellar. If a seller has their own website with direct sales then I'll usually throw in a link (I believe I have for XCADEY before.) Sorry that it means you have to find the things yourself. Not that I wouldn't buy one of these, because I probably would, but my point is more to the weight issue. While it's true that weight makes a difference on a climb, it's not nearly as much as you'd think. 1kg, or 2.2 pounds extra on the bike can be overcome and then some by simply doing 5 more watts up the climb. That's right, you'd be faster on a long climb just doing 5 more watts than taking 1kg off the bike's weight.
    All that being said, I buy Chinese products because I'm never going to pay $2,500 for a set of wheels, or $5,000 for a frame etc... These top name brands are insane in their pricing. Same goes for the kit and the sunglasses and the shoes. I buy all my kit and glasses from Aliexpress and laugh to myself at my friends who pay $300 for a set of Assos bib shorts and jersey and $400 for a pair of Oakleys. They're dressing to impress others. I dress to impress my retirement fund. And I look just as good as they do for 10% of what they paid.

      Hey Martin. Because I'm in China, the channels I buy from (Taobao) are different to the channels used by overseas customers (Usually AliExpress.) I have never bought anything on AliExpress, but it always comes across to me as a bit like the wild west. I don't wanna recommend a particular seller in case their service is less than stellar. If a seller has their own website with direct sales then I'll usually throw in a link (I believe I have for XCADEY before.) Sorry that it means you have to find the things yourself. I encourage people in the comments to share reliable sellers on AliExpress though! :)

    I use YBN chains and wax them, as suggested by Zero Friction Cycling…he has a whole heap of data from testing them and they are low friction and long lasting

    • @ChinaCycling
      @ChinaCycling  3 года назад

      I see. I just use squirt on them, but maybe i'll get onboard with #waxlife

    • @byrondixon4648

      I went down the YBN waxing zero friction road. I found that every 200k or so I needed to re-wax, and it was always slightly more noisy in the drivetrain. Using wet lube again now - soooo quiet.

      I take what he says with a pinch of salt. He was selling a piece of bent coat hanger for like $20 or something lol. Too corporate for me to trust 1000% with his test results.
      I did learn how to clean a chain better though. Oz Cycling is the chain wax king IMO. No financial agenda there.

    Can you please still link the products in the description. Unfortunately I can not find the crank, cassette and handlebars via Google.

    • @ChinaCycling
      @ChinaCycling  3 года назад +2

      The cassette should be on AliExpress, "SROAD Cassette" should find it. The bars I don't publicly recommend. I've been to their factory and there was no quality control of incoming goods / materials. Things like this I think maybe you have a very small chance of it going wrong - so I feel fine using it myself. But recommending it to 40,000 people, that's a totally different ball game. Also, because there's no branding on the bar, it means you don't know if you're getting the same as me, or something that just looks the same. The crank - I don't think it's released yet. They had some problems with earlier production and are working on it the last I heard.

    Now that your life is more winspace focused, have you ever thought of hiring staff to do the more general content for this channel? I think there is still an appetite outside of China to hear more boots-on-the-ground stories.

    • @ChinaCycling

      Yeah, but I'm a bit of a control freak. Even at Winspace. I find it very hard to delegate tasks and like to do everything myself. X_X but it's not sustainable. Will maybe look into a co-host in 2022!

    I’ve got one. It replaced my Alez sprint. Geometry is slightly more slack which is nice. I put r7000 on mine. It light enough for me and it is as light at the 7 and 8 grand bikes I’m seeing.

    @China Cycling I just got my super light black SLC 2.0 in frame size 470 and it came in at 812g ☹️
    Website says 780g minus 50 for the medium. Mine is a small which should've come in way lighter. Also the fork came in at 399g. Disappointed

    • @brunospasta
      @brunospasta Год назад +1

      The weight is unpainted and +/- 50g. Even the super light has some primer, clear coat, decals on it. And whenever sth says +/- x grams you can basically just go to the + side. They usually dont get these numbers in a statistical correct way :). So assuming ~60g paint: 780 + 50 + 60 = 890. so yours is for sure with in tollerance.

    • @brunospasta
      @brunospasta Год назад +1

      But yeah. Fork is quite heavy for how small it is...
