As you say Warren , its very sad when machinery is treated like this, imagine how much money it would make the company if it were working properly and well maintained. our drivers all were not allowed to go home unless they cleaned and checked the trucks and tractors, there was always a sense of pride and well being. Thanks for the video.
I have driven various buses for 46 years and always cleaned them after driving and felt pride in a clean bus both inside and out. It is the same with most truck drivers. Farmers completely miss that feeling for their very expensive machines where you can almost grow potatoes in the cabin..😉
I don't comment on videos I watch, but I want to thank you, your videos show how you tract down problems and how you fix them. So, thank you and keep putting out your videos and ignore the idiots. Dennis
That is one dirty fucked up Rig. I don't get how people don't maintain there vehicles . I hope you charged for all that service and that you let the owner know that there is a lot wrong with that rig that all it needs are the fluids changed and things either repaired or fixed on time. Warren you are a true professional and you do a lot of work for your customers, I hope they recognize it.
This lack of care for their vehicles keeps you gainfully employed, so the situation is not all bad. Thanks for the quality and keeping it real, of your videos.
Sitting here .... in the comfort of my home.... I'm able to chuckle and shake my head ... and as I laugh, at your expense, I want to thank you, genuinely Warren for shedding common sense into chaos .... you're so right when addressing the lack of appreciation from these hires man... it's ridiculous.... I thank God that I grew up with a Dad who'd kick my butt for "running amuck" like that............ in a dream world these folks would see this video and learn something about humbly taking care of the one who feeds you. .... Jon O in Idaho
Warren you have my total respect here in the UK, firstly, that was a tight squeeze coming out of your building, agree with everything you have said, secondly, they are probably too dumb to realise that not only is the engine breathing it’s own soot, but they are too, their lungs must be full of it. Really enjoy your humour 👌
Hey Warren, that was quite the maintenance fiasco on that feed truck. Maybe that bunch should keep you on retainer for the repairs that you still need to get to. Great video for us to watch. I was yelling at ya to put the chain on each side of that spring set and then lift it into place. But you got er done anyway. Great job. Thanks much for the video friend.
Several workshops (in Sweden) require the vehicle to be washed and clean, otherwise they charge a lot for cleaning. Most of the machines that Warren brings in need a good wash before you start work. Good that you use machines that save your body 👍
Warren, work smarter not harder, something my grand dad instilled in me at a very young age. Saves your back and knees and yes, as we get older, we'll feel it in short order. As a retired farmer, I was taught and instilled in me that, 1: check oil, engine, trans, hyd. BEFORE turning the key on. 2: double check the anti-freeze. 3: change fluids and filters at certain number of hrs or miles. 4: keep your equipment clean. 5: see a leak, fix it immediately. Don't understand how some people can't understand a simple concept as this. As always, another great video, cheers :)
I guess maintainence is less on peoples minds anymore. I am sure the old girl was thankful it was in your hands for a time. Hope the foot is doing well. Take care.
I liked hearing about your younger years. I know you complain about RUclips sometimes, but it's a miracle that two people on opposite ends of the country can communicate over a shared interest. Best wishes.
This is Tony from Alabama and people wonder why the peace of equipment don’t last and give so many problems just keep on doing what you are doing brother
Had good results with the torch n bees wax working on froze up stuff like that through the years.. Old well driller turned me on to it years ago..Saved me many a time. Good Job as usual Warren, it amazes me your back is still behind you. Mine left me years ago unfortunately. Now I have to resort to watching you work. Not many work as hard as you do anymore.
I worked at a rock crushing quarry eons ago had stuck pins i would drill out the center and flake torch from the center out till i could remove the pins. Good video.
What is truly remarkable is neglect the truck until it won't do it's task anymore and then are panic stricken to have it repaired because they don't have a piece of equipment to use... Thanks for taking the time to share this with us Warren. Best Wishes to You and Your Family.
100% Warren Just change the oil! I remember changing the oil on my bosses lease car because he didn't feel like it and I felt bad for whoever would buy the car after he turned it in. When you rebuild engines, you get a lot of joy from making beautiful engine music. It hurts to see people abuse those same machines.
When I see machines like that on a farm it makes me wonder how they treat their livestock. What a mess you had to sort out, utter negligence. To be honest, some mechanic here in the UK would refuse to work on that if it turned up at a workshop like that nevermind repair it. You did a great job there Warren, that was a fight from start to finish!
Damn Warren, that's a lot of crap in that air drier! I bet you dollars to doughnuts the wet and dry tanks are loaded with crap as well. Had the Mounties in Hope condemn a truck on a roadside inspection the wet tank was almost full of sludge, took almost a hour to blow the crap out of it. We had to thin it out by adding methyl hydrate to the tank. It's amazing how guys who don't own it treat it, yet soon as it's broken, they are the ones crying they haven't got it to go to work.. Thanks for the Share great video with lots of heavy damage.. Stay safe.. Cheer!
@@nathankisner8332 That's a good question Nathan. For years Methyl Hydrate was about the only thing you could add to the lines to soften up the oil and sludge build up in the lines because older lines were rubber lined. With the newer low temperature Nylon/Teflon lines (plastic lines) I would guess Methyl Hydrate is still approved for use in air lines. If Warren has a moment, maybe he could chime in here. I know in the dead of winter working outside with a tiger torch, fish wire and MH makes for a miserable job unplugging frozen lines.
I guess all that can be said about the shape the equipment is in is that it just about guarantees you work in the future, but, I get that it’s frustrating to see things neglected like that. Thanks for the update, I enjoyed watching Warren.
Don’t know how you do it Warren, most would have turned down this job. Credit to you again, particularly managing to work with your foot! Hope you were able to change appropriately. Well done and all the best. David.
For most, Growing up without the extras in life teaches you to respect what you have and take care of it. In my Opinion, this is why the older generation was more resourceful it is usually also why they were humble and had integrity. These are traits you certainly have. Take care Warren
My dad had problems with getting men to do their assigned work without having someone on them constantly at the fire department. This caused him to get heavy into reading psychology books trying to figure out how to motivate them into doing their jobs. After several years of making our homelife hell since he tried to analyze everything we kids did, he finally reached the conclusion some people are just lazy. Made our home life much better also
My Dad did the heavy equipment repair on all the equipment in his construction company ( dozers, scrapers, cranes, farm tractors and other vehicles) . if a piece of equipment went down then he required the operator to work on it with him. Most operators learned to take care of the equipment cause they didn't like mechanic work.
Warren will sort everything, so need for us to worry. Good that the people who run this truck don’t operate an airline. It’s a shame when stuff gets so much abuse. That differential failure had some driver input. Cheers Warren.
We get farmers machinery for repair. And half of it is kerlesness. They don't grease anything. They fetched a Case tractor the other day with the crank hanging though the side of the engine. They hadn't been putting oil in it. And then they mone when they get the bill. It's crazy the repairs we have to do.
It’s pretty bad when the only one who cares about the equipment is an outside mechanic. 4 Gallons out of 11 Gallons was almost a new engine. Maybe they should run the old 7.3L Diesels, at least if the oil got too low it wouldn’t run. That truck is probably run everyday to feed with and it would be a big problem if it went down for a few weeks. Appreciate your videos and commentary as always. Be safe out there, hopefully the foots healing up well.
A Medical Doctors grand daughter pulled up in our driveway Sunday with a big GMC dually and asked me if her Grandads engine would be seriously hurt because she drove it about 50 miles to our place with the oil light on and the last few miles running derated about 5 miles an hour. I had a couple pails of Rotella in the garage and her truck had less than 4 quarts in it. It had a Duramax in it, so instead of hauling it somewhere to at least get the pan dropped and bearings checked, he paid me for the oil and told her to just continue to drive it. Go figure.
