we are probably asking too much of them. at the same time , some are waiting for the classics of babymetal , others for the avant - garde ... I'm no exception. so I decided for myself. no expectations. I just watch, listen and enjoy.
I think this is a message from BABYMETAL to change the pandemic monochrome world into a colorful world filled with smiles, where tragedies are still repeated somewhere in the world.
It’s partly that but the monochrome firework is the the bomb, dropped on Suzuka’s home, of Hiroshima. Took me a while to understand the lyrics. I initially dismissed this track as a radio friendly track. I was so wrong.

Welcome to BabyMetal's metalverse.🦊🤘🌐 After almost a month of released their new single "Divine Attack - Shingeki" marking the long time waited return, they just released another great new single "Monochrome" and is a song that expresses a fleeting hope during Ragnarok, which means "doomsday" in Norse mythology, that the starry skies will be wrapped in rainbow colors, all of this under the question which color were the monochrome fireworks lighting up in the night sky, from a children's eyes. After hearing the lyrics a little bit and watching the umbrellas falling theme It could also be related to an historical sad moment we all know happened in Hiroshima which is also SuMetal birthplace. They're making us sure that this song belongs to another world out of 10 in total of their metalverse. This time the theme runs around the Norse mythology and the Ragnarök event, we can also see an artwork which apparently show "Yggdrasil", the Norse tree of life, there's a lot more interesting things related to this tree but in general is representing the life and rebirth of the humankind after a moment of death and chaos, BM fans know that this a recurrent theme on BM lore and is always exciting. Another hint or hidden similarity reference with this tree could be the Aogiri tree, which is known in Hiroshima for being a symbol of peace after surviving that sad event. I also noticed since a very long time ago they were using the _"Myth"_ title before every different title itself, so that could mean another hint over the concept of this album using different mythologies and their stories represented in each one of their songs, i heard another snippets sets and I can totally see that. In this case they're going with the Norse mythology which is very popular nowadays thanks to videogames like God Of War Ragnarok recently released, or even Attack On Titan (Shingeki No Kyojin) anime series, without giving so much details, which is also a theme many BM fans are relating to the world of "Divine Attack - Shingeki", their first single released. The sound on this song reminds a little bit of good old hard rock ballad mixed with a touch of heavy metal and some complex drums always in contrast with beautiful SuMetal's vocals, i can also see the hands of Yuyoyuppe on this, he's the songwriter/composer/arranger behind songs like Megitsune, Rondo Of Nightmare, Karate and Kagerou. After watching the credits now there's no doubt is him behind this song, he knows his business and totally rocks. I like how at the end the lyrics said "Just Smile" and then the colors are back.🙂 Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this new single, hopefully one of their new singles will hit the Active Rock radio or something, not sure about this one but it'll be cool for sure, i won't complain. Kitsune up and see you next time 🦊🤘🌈
😭 They and We will never be able to return to the Times: Uki Uki Midnight, Onedari Daisakusen, Magictune, Avadama Fever, Ijime,Dame,Zettai, Headbanger, Meta Taro, Java, Syncopation .... 😭😭😭
You are absolutely right about their new sound. SU-METAL said that in an interview in 2020 that she wanted to show the charms of "otona kawaii" or adult cuteness. While we only have two songs so far, they certainly feel more mature; less chaotic and more intense. I am interested in seeing how they perform as well. We'll have to wait for the spring tour with Sabaton to find out as I don't expect much footage to leak out of the January concerts in Japan.
Good reaction, thanks! I'm liking the song more and more every time I listen to it. It feels sad though, with some obscure lyrics (and some dark explicit references visually). But they came out with an optimistic ending: the alive tree among devastation and the last lines: "We will illuminate the world in rainbow colors. Just smile." Until next time!
Great reaction. As in the comments below this song is deep and meaningful and seems to reference the Hiroshima bombing (the monochrome firework) - the visuals would also suggest that. Expect the unexpected - the next song they release may have similarities or things in common with this and or 'Divine Attack', but based on their history there is a good chance it will be completely different. Only the Fox God knows. Also, as Jeff Schreifels said, they have been just the two of them for the last 4 years officially (5 years for all practical reasons), so I would imagine they will continue with the same sort of arrangement as they used from 2019 through 2021 with a dancer in the third spot for live performances.
@@Grington300 it was a possibility, 6 months ago. I don’t think that now and that opens up possibilities of Moa, taking a greater role. That young lady, stole my heart, 2years ago. I’ve requested it back but have had no reply! Su will always be our Queen but Moa owns my heart!🥰😍🥰
Babymetal has been just the two of them since 2018. Well, 2017 actually. They used substitute dancers to fill in the 3rd spot but they were never official members so never showed up in promotions. I assume they'll do the same this time but we'll see fur sure in January.
Nice reaction. In true Babymetal fashion this song is different from their last song. And I'm sure the next song will be too. That's just how Babymetal rolls. lol.
Album explores different worlds. This one has a dying Sun causing freezing rain (you can see the planet's atmosphere stripped halfway through) with the promise of Ragnarok rebirth from Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life.
this song hits different when you consider the "monochrome firework" could be a reference to the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima -- which is where SUMETAL is from. i can't confirm whether or not that was intentional, but it adds a layer of sorrow under the whole song, which you can hear in Su's voice. even if it's not intended, i don't think i'll be able to interpret it as anything else. ;-;
I had the same thought, wondering If the song references Hiroshima.... Su’s beautiful vocals definitely do seem to have a sad undertone, as If the song Is very personal to her. I cant say for certain of course, but the video and song lyrics painted that picture for me.
I'm loving this new Babymetal it is exactly where I wanted them to go. And personally I would like to see just the two of them now and finally put that Yui ghost to rest it has been Su and Moa now for almost as long as when she was in the group and I apologise if that upsets anyone I love Yui as well
I notice on the Amuse website on the talent page they don't have Su-metal or Moa-metal listed now and Yui has changed from Actor to Actor/Talent. I might be wrong but I think it only said Actor last year.
@@r1learner178 it would be cool to see her doing something again, she probably has been but behind the scenes, I could see her in a teaching/mentoring role if she still isn’t healthy enough to return to performing
