In this video I compare my KTM 200XC-W to my friend Jacobs 150XC. I like both bikes but they have their pros and cons. Some pros of the 150 is that it is lightweight and is easy to control. Also the linkage suspension makes the bike handle better then the 200 but sacrifices its ability to go over large objects that could potentially damage the linkage. The 200 on the contrary does not have linkage so there is no concern for going over large obstacles. The 200 also has a lot more torque witch is in advantage in tight woods. A con of the 200 is the weight. Although its not a huge difference from the 150 it is defiantly noticeable after riding both. Also some things not mentioned about the 200 is its electric start and its wide range transmission.

I've got a buddy with a cr500. He gets on a friends exc300 and is actually faster. Then our other buddy with a 250 says it's quicker than the 300 in most situations as you can't use the power of a 300 anyway. So then another buddy of ours got a 200 and it's waayyy lighter and smoother than the 250, totally different bike to the 250. Funny thing is, though, that we all go faster on the ol' 150. funny huh! Almost as fast the 125, which feels like a mountain bike on steroids. Get in some tight trails, though, and the 125 can't hold a flame to a buddy's 85 big wheel though. Now THAT thing hauls. But not as much as the 65, or the 50.
Conclusion: the new 25cc KTM would absolutely destroy a cr500 in every way possible
tosgem funny thing is we own and 80 5SX and a 200 SX and the 85 smoked the 200 if you have a 85 SX I'll trade you the 200 for it you can have the bigger bike

The torque that you are talking about is simply the fact that one is an Xc while the other is an Xcw. But I give you props. I'd be a little scared to go that fast on a few of those sections.

I really want to get a 150 and put the 200 cylinder on it. Keep the 150 crank with shorter stroke than the 200. It'll be a 187cc, have higher ports than a 200, so more top end power, closer to the 150. Should be a middle ground in power characteristic and weight.
TheOfficialKC yeah that would awesome!! But for preference the 200s can be really stiff and difficult to drive (I know because my friend owns one and let me ride it)

also I live in southern GA where most places to ride around here consist of most flat technical trail/sand/and mud. and occasional hills to climb if I take a weekend to go up north GA to the mountains.

Man your videos are amazing I have a 150sx and I can't get the wheel up I go in second pop the clutch and give gas and lean back but nothing. Any tips?
Try first gear up a hill with no clutch. And remember to pull back hard on the bars :)

old but awesome video but had a question, looking to get a new bike and have been considering the 200 xcw after doing some research on but not sure if it's right bike. little history, started riding dirt bikes around 12 and now 27. I haven't rode in about 4 years and the last bike I rode and owned was a 01 CR 250 and rode that mostly on track and open trails. little bit older now and have children that I have taught to ride and have dirt bikes so I want to get something that could be fun to ride open areas with them but also I could let loose tear up more technical areas and wonder if the 200 would suit that. thanks for any info anyone may have
A 200 would deffinatly be more manageable then a 250 seeing how you haven't riden in 4 years. Then if you start geting back into it the 200 rips if you want it to. The 200 would be a great bike to get back into shape and it would be much easyer to ride :)
+IanHowes2114 thanks for the response, I'm heading to KTM dealer this weekend to check one out and from what I have seen, your right, be a good bike to get back on 2 wheels that will let me get my old skills back and enough bike to learn some new stuff as well.

I recently bought an KTM 150 XC 2016. I love it and I am 13. You guys are both really good. Ps how old were you guys when you made this video.
How is the 150 low end? Want one, but not sure on low end. And what editing software do you use? Everyone I use its all blurry and slow. Great vid btw
The bottom end on the 150 is decent but nothing compared to the 200. And I use Sony Vegas Pro

Coming from the yz125 to the 200xcw, I know what you mean, the xcw suspension just doesn't feel as solid sometimes in the fast stuff, but I wouldn't want a 150 for woods.

I know you uploaded this a while ago but id like you to get back to me on this, i want to buy a 2017 150 xcw but i want to know where you got the normal plastics or if normal plastics fit it so that if i loop out i dont break off the tail light
Patrick Bradley that's just the new plastic the new enduro line just comes with plastic but you would love that bike The xcw line has awesome bikes like impossible to stall with that heavy flywheel

Patrick Bradley it would probably be safer to just get a new rear fender just so you dont have exposed wires

hi i just bought ktm 200 xcw for swap engine to scooter honda pcx ;-)
go with the 150 Becuase if you want more power then you can bore it bigger for more bottom end power. closing the gap for all around power on the 200

GlovesR_awesome 21 depending on how talk you are I would say a ktm 85 or a 105 I just got a ktm 150 and I have not set the sag yet but I am 5"11 128 lbs and it am on the balls of my feet so don't be worried about the 105 power because it is there and it is crazy fast my friends that I have rode is an awesome bike super light as well would make a good bike for you because I was 112 lbs when I rode his 105
