Sermon - Christians and Politics

Should Christians be involved in politics and, if so, to what extent? Will our involvement really make that much difference anyway? These are the questions on the minds of many believers as we struggle to discern the best approach that will yield the greatest return. Understanding that the fears of American believers are being realized in our modern culture and government, we must evaluate the church as a whole and our failure to fulfill what Christ has called us to as foundational to the corruption we see in Washington, in state governments, and in local municipalities. If the church of Christ would rededicate themselves to functioning as Christ has called us to, the story may be different going forward. As long as we sit idly by on the sidelines, we are condemning ourselves and everyone else to a more corrupt and immoral culture going forward. Christians' responsibilities toward and within the workings of government can be defined in four words: PRAY, OBEY, PAY, and VOTE.
