Most of these _Viana do Castelo_ Class Patrol Ships are still sailing without any armament as I write. They were not poorly designed, have some oceanic capability and even a helipad for a Lynx size helicopter, (but no hangar) but what is the point of sending them on patrol unarmed?! 😰 At least one of the six ships is now armed with an Oto Melara 30 mm gun at the bow, besides two 12,7 mm M2 and two 7,62 mm MG 3 machine guns . It was about time!
