Schnellboot 1/35

Almost finished Italery Schnellboot S100. It has been converted to RC, powered by 3 speed 400 engines. I hope to make action vid as soon as the weather is better. The naval mines are a kit from AFV club. A lot of work to assemble but well worth the effort.

Ziet er erg goed uit Marco en vooral ook de light weathering is mooi gedaan, iets waar ik mij nog eens mee bezig moet gaan houden. Ook de zeemijnen zijn een fraai detail. Veel succes met je maiden trip en hoop ook daarvan de video te zien. Met vriendelijke groet, Bram

Dank je wel. Weathering moet je zeker is proberen. Ik ben zelf een fan van Vallejo pigment poeder. Gewoon met een oud harder kwastje aanbrengen en daarna sealen met blanke lak. Succes in de UK, dat zal ongetwijfeld een paar mooie video's opleveren.

Very nice. I'm in the process of doing a pair of these. One as a minelayer the other as a depth charge /ASW version. I kinda went overboard on mine. I bought quite a bit of photoetch for them and bought aftermarket decals so they wouldnt have the same decals. Also one has a deck gun the other has AA guns only. So I'll have a lot of decisions to make.
One thing I'm curious about. How did you chose your hull color? I'm having a hard time because I have read 3 different books on it and they mostly say it was a special color in the begining and it was done because it had a special anti fouling ingredient that required it to gave a slight green tint. All pretty much agree that it was so light that it was almost white. This was done after the Germans did tests that showed a white/light color boat was almost impossible to see at night.
I also noticed you painted your rafts green, this seems to be important for daytime use but not sure about nighttime. I have yet to see a ruling made on the raft colors but I think they would be something lo vis. I know the Bismarck was ordered to cover the red paint on her bow after leaving port. They even had tarps made just to do it according to the logs. I wonder if they tarped the boats or they painted them like yours...a subdued color.

Thank you for your comments. Colours are always difficult and different sources / books have different suggestions, so i decided to do the antifouling in black and i took a very light grey for the rest. In allmost all photo's the rafts have a dark colour so it had to be grey or green. So you do a pair of these! That is a fair bit of work. Will they be static or rc? Good luck with the project.

Well, the kit, paint, motors, servo's transmitter, receiver, battery and a lot of time :-) In Euro's i estimate approx 500,-
