Wow, this is surreal. Memphis takes down a strong SMU team at home. The crowd atmosphere sounded amazing.
@Hector Rodriguez I couldn't imagine. I hope Memphis keeps up the top #25 ranking contention. The stadium can bring in 70,000+ spectators when full. It would be great for the area and school.

The talent Memphis had was insane. NFL players all over the field. Even the kicker Riley Patterson is doing great in the nfl. Norvell now at Florida state.
Crazy thing is I remember everyone trashing ESPN for choosing this as the big primetime game but it was genuinely some of the most fun ive had watching an individual game in a while. The energy was off the charts and I still think about it from time to time.
Born and raised a Razorbacks fan, since I moved to Memphis, I've adopted the Tigers, haven't been disappointed.
I like how a lot of the espn guys laughed off doing a game in Memphis and man what a show this game was if you like offense 102 points scored and the way Chris Fowler sounded in these highlights it was worth it

Yea army and Air Force was pretty physical especially when both teams run the option. UCF and HOU had some good hits too.
Memphis was just extremely pumped up considering this was a national TV audience, Sports Center and the hype.

Helluva game that was! That was Antonio Gibson's breakout performance that landed him into the NFL draft. I remember biting my nails off in that 4th qt thinking we were gonna blow a three TD lead. Norvell built something special in his 4 years at Memphis. That 2019 squad was the best team ever in Memphis football history and beat Cincinnati twice in 7 days to win their first ever outright conference championship 🏆 and earn a spot in the NY6 Cotton Bowl.

terrible defense by both teams but fun to watch. SMU put themselves in this situation by not kicking the ball to the return man and allowing good field position which killed them
Kicking it to the return guy was costing them points so....what would you do?

i would have kicked the ball deep. if he scores he scores. short kickoffs is alot of field position given up.

Amazing game by both teams though Memphis defense was definitely loafing a few plays, which looks horrible on film for getting to the NFL.
You stay on the field as often as they did with their offense scoring so quick,you'd be "loafing" too!! SMU guys looked worse with their tackling...and they were much more rested...their teams made long,sustained drives.

Nah, they don't really. I'm only a 7 year Memphis resident myself, but every since I got here and they had Fuente, they just need just enough defense. Cause these offenses they've had , can score with anyone. It's made it tolerable as a lifelong razorback fan, to know I'm only fifteen minutes from a really good football team.

@@alecgriffith4863 yes both lsu and Ohio st have really good teams and really good defenses but this is the best defense oregon has had in a very long time and oregon is one of the top teams in defense and your not always gonna play good at times and people always talk about oregon having a good offense but not defense and this year they have the defense

A real horse race at this point for the Group of 5 NY6 Bowl berth. No more unbeaten teams, probably about 8 teams still in it with a realistic chance. 4 or 5 from the American, a couple from the Mt. West, even La. Tech could sneak in there. Very competitive season among the top of the G5, and some good teams!

Even the announcers saw the face mask turn around sit down from the booth. His feet were off the ground. And, you wonder why teams think the refs in the NCAA try to effect games.
AAC refs are the absolute worst. Not just this game, not just against Memphis either.
Very inconsistent with their calls.
When UCF lost to Pitt in '18, a player's helmet was ripped of his head during a play (4th qtr. I think) and thrown downfield into the end zone. No flag. No ejection. Commentators couldn't believe it.
