Thanks for sharing your memories of your dad. I really appreciate all the information you share. I'm 66, been hunting 30 years, 20 in Florida, and you're teaching me new stuff. Thanks.

Have you ever hunted caravelle ranch south? My son and I drew it for muzzle loader.

@JamesAshley-u9d I haven't, I have friends that do and I mount some good bucks from there. The muzzleloader hunt is usually a good one.

I live in central Florida and have watched several of you and your brothers videos with the dog hunting and was wondering if you would be willing to talk about your deer dogs and where they came from if it’s an old blood line your dad had or stuff you have came across over the years. From what I have seen y’all have some decent trail dogs. I appreciate all the videos and keep up the good work!

@gradyscott8451 That may be something we can do for the other channel, but short answer is yeah it's an old blood line, we got a Treeing walker stud in 2007 from a coon hunter in Tennessee and bred that into it, all of our females have that blood in them and we've bred to different males around. We have some old Glen Rowell blood for the nose, I've bred Black Mouth into some of mine for the grit, if you hear us mention Emma that's my Black Mouth that pretty much only runs bucks, I use her to jump alot.

Your dad was an awesome man of God. I've got many ligustrum trees in my yard from him as well as 10 deer mounts done by him. Glad to see yall are keeping his legacy alive and well.

Those are some nice bucks. I’ve used trail cams and hunted for a long time and have rarely seen bucks in my area over 100”.

@Thats_That_Dude Yes sir they aren't everywhere, there's more people getting into places they didn't used to go too so even I have a harder time finding them, I'd say I'm gonna have 3 as of right now that'll go over 130" and that's in 3 zones a 5 hour drive apart.

I don't hunt in Florida, but I hunt almost the same type of woods your hunting. I dog hunt and still hunt. Keep up the good work on the videos, I'm enjoying them👍

I've had a handful of unfortunate events that kept me from harvesting a Florida deer. In college I was broke broke, and I took my bow to get tuned at the pawn shop. The archery guy told me to buy a new bow but I couldn't afford one. I asked for a smaller peep sight instead. Long story short one of those big 130-145 class bucks came at daylight to 25 yards broadside and I couldn't see yet through that small peep.
I have a question about ground hunting the edge of fields that are bedding areas.
The deer sleep with wind in their face, how can I make sure my entry and exit of the field won't flush the bucks out before I see them or keep them from entering the field to bed? Would I always need to hunt on the down wind side of the field. Also, if I scout the first 2 or 3 days of my quota hunt, when is the best time so I don't flush bucks out of those fields?

@newperspective1318 man that's a rough feeling, I missed the biggest buck I've ever had a shot on and passed the second biggest at 45 yards because I'm not comfortable over 40. I'm assuming by field you mean clear cut or something grown up thick, for them to bed there to begin with during season it has to be thick, if it's kinda rolling hills they'll lay with the wind coming over the top down to them alot and face kinda down hill, at least that's what I've seen, bucks lay with the wind hitting them in the back and then face down wind so they can see what they can't smell. If it's thick enough then their ears become about as effective as their nose, as for scouting it I'd walk the transition line and look for the tracks or rubs coming and going, they'll probably be scrapes there too, in some places it's possible to get high in a tree and see them move around. If it's an area with very few climbable trees sometimes you can figure out a way to get into one and do good, if it's a rut hunt I'd look for rubs on the usual down wind side of thick where I find tracks coming and going into then sit the down wind side that day but hopefully you can find the sign around the perimeter without having to go into the bedding area's.
