Would've been nice if Adult Swim or Warner Bros. put in the money to remaster seasons 1-2 in HD like they did for Samurai Jack seasons 1-4 when that show got it's Blu-ray set possibly have them uncensored as well. The same thing is happening with Metalocalpse too, DVD only, which is super disappointing.
The dvd is like $70 now on Amazon. I'm just now finding out about it. I'm thinking of getting it since I still buy stuff on DVD and Blu-Ray. It's kind of sad how physical media is dying. I'm one of those people that doesn't trust streaming services too much because these companies love taking shows or movies down and that gets annoying. It's better to still get stuff on DVD or Blu-Ray imo. I haven't seen this show in years. I remember I was like 7 or 8 when this show was out. I was watching it when I wasn't supposed to be lol.
$50 on Amazon now (March 2024). Anybody who buys this kind of stuff on or near ‘day one’ is wasting money in this day and age. Sets like these always get a LOT cheaper eventually. Still don’t get the need to buy this at all when they already have all the season sets.
Bummer, but pretty much as expected. Just buy the older Bluray sets (and DVD for the first two seasons). It's better to get the individual box art for each season anyway. Realistically, the only way I'd purchase a "complete collection" is if it was Bluray or UHD and had the first two seasons upscaled. AI upscaling is pretty good these days and greatly improves the first two seasons quality, even with just fan upscales.
Jesus, I googled “VB completes series” on a whim today and thought it was $100 everywhere because it was long out of print. I can’t believe that it was literally just released for that price. I’m honestly considering it because I don’t mind that it’s just the old discs repackaged, but the fact that it’s only DVD… that’s a problem. Have you watched a DVD recently? It’s noticeably worse, like shockingly.
Yeah, I lost all my DVDs in a move, and though i found a couple seasons of mine again at a thrift store, I wanted to bite the bullet and just have them all again, so i bought this. Not disappointed that they're just copies of the previous DVDs (I only have a DVD player), but super disappointed at the packaging. I got it from Amazon and as shoddy as it seemed intact off the shelf, be glad you didn't order it online; every disc holder was broken, as well as the "pages" between seasons, so they're all just floating around in that case, and it seriously takes me several minutes to get them all positioned in there where i can be sure they aren't damaged.
Speaking as a fan who doesn't already have the individual seasons on DVD, and who wants a complete series set, this is pretty much what I want. The only complaint I have is that the commentary is missing for Home Insecurity. I wanted all the episodes in one package, and this release fulfils that want.
I'm a (sorta) new fan under 30. I've seen bits and pieces of this show growing up but never put effort to invest time in it. I finally watched the first two seasons on my sister's Max app and I'm now very invested. I'm always afraid streaming services will drop my favorite shows (it's happened before) and I know Max only uses the censored version. So my questions are if this set is completely uncensored and if the commentaries are really that entertaining?
They are not completely uncensored until I think season 3. The commentary depends on your tastes. It's mostly two dudes bullshitting like a podcast and every once in a while they actually talk about the show.
@@BillTheSpill Thanks, I understand bleeps for comedy but it can get irritating to me sensory wise and I think stronger language is necessary if you want to make certain dramatic/badass moments stand out. I'm still on the fence buying this but the info is appreciated.
I thought mine was broken too. I guess not. Its so cheaply done. I was literally thinking the same thing about the commentary track. This feels like its lacking that venture charm we are used to with their products. I wanted to support them, and i already own all the seasons on blu-ray and dvd. This was just a waste of money for me. Pretty disappointing.
honestly I don't care nothing changed, it's good they put this out now so it's easier to get it because it was very annoying to me to hunt down every dvd.also the one missing commentary you have to find online, that's just part of the venture experience lol
$100 is insane but after two weeks it went down to almost $60 depending on the store. I paid $50 for my complete series because they’re DVDs! They couldn’t do Blu-ray? I mean, I paid $70 for the complete series of Batman the animated series on Blu-ray with digital copy & both animated films. They’re also both Warner Bros. which is really weird. But they should do something for the fans who paid $100 2 weeks ago though. Aside from that. Yeah it’s just the complete perfect series on DVD. 😂
So you're complaining about product you've already purchased. You know you can return it right ? What did you think you were going to get ? It's a box set pretty much like any other. For the most part that's what you buying. Previously rekeased media thrown into bew packaging. As far as the price duh you akways wait until it goes on sale. I bought the whole set for under 40 on eBay if all places.
I just received mine. Im really disappointed i own season 2 and the dvd packaging is way better on that. I honestly didnt know there was blu rays of this series. The price point is also bad feel like 90 is a better starting point i mean its thos Walmart complete series cases that i actively avoid with a nicer outside. Almost feels like that was an active decision to make the outside look good and then the inside shit. One other positive about the packaging is that the disc holders are actually deep enough so that the discs arent flying everywhere. Borderline wanting to return this set and i paid 80 usd
Honestly, I've noticed the death of the physical dvd/bluray.. with other newer movie releases seriously lacking.. Like back in the early days of dvd, you would have gotten so much extras as it was a selling point. But with people getting their media thru streaming and digital. There's no need to do much extra.. they just put out the movie, and that's it. Like disney/marvel studios will still make extras for their bigger movies but those extras are made to be "new shows" for disney+ (more than extra content) and you might not see it get placed on any physical release So I'm sad to hear the venture bros box set is yet another disappointment 😞 Also the price is way too high given there's still boxsets of the older bluray for cheaper (only the first couple of seasons are expensive) so you can probably hunt down the old sets and enjoy their art more? Unless your looking to save space
I want these dvd but after hearing ur thoughts I might have to reconsider, the artwork looks cool but the whole set would’ve been interesting if they took proper care into the making of the dvd set. Nonetheless, despite all of its flaws I’ll still try to buy the dvd if I could. Anyways great vid and have yourself a go team father’s day my guy
WB is trying to eliminate physical media🤦♂️so don't hold your breath for a Blu ray or upgrade😪The only way a Blu ray would happen is if a independent company purchased the rights🙏 I suggest picking up everything WB that you want👉NOW🤑
Kinda disappointing! I remember for Christmas a billion years ago my mother bought the family the complete series set for Futurama It came in a big plastic bender head statue and had every DVD, including the movies! It was nice as someone who'd never owned the earlier DVDs to have it all one in (atmittably cute) storage device. So there is some value in it for newer fans of Venture Bros (like myself) funnily enough right before this was announced my brother had found someone setting their entire DVD series for about 100 USD, so if it had been announced a few months earlier I would've bought it!
Some streaming service are super annoying, especially when they take away a show or they’ll have season 1 of Aqua teen hunger force and the rest would be blocked. That’s why i like physical media.

Let me know when the Laserdisc version drops.
Haha, I was gonna wait for the Betamax version myself.
I would unironically love a Laserdisc set of Venture Bros as a collector's item.
😂
i guess being underwhelmed is part of the trademark venture bros experience
Truer words were never spoken.

Since I was 14 I would just torrent my fave stuff and back it up on usb drives. Can’t trust corporations not mess everything up

Is what you're showing from the show in the background from the dvd set or a blu ray set? The quality looks pretty nice.

Cant believe they didnt add a single thing.
It's really a shame.
It’s really not surprising after they did the exact same thing for the ATHF complete box set. I’m sure the Metalocalypse set will be the exact same.

Does it have the season 7 commentary? I haven't had much luck getting the commentary for season 7 or even confirming it exists.
Season 7 has commentary on every single episode.

does it have commentary like the original have?
How do i play the comentary tracks ?
Season 1 doesn't have commentary on every episode, it will ask you if you want to listen with commentary before an episode that has commentary plays.
So i did just pick mine up is there anything wrong with the picture or sound audio
Not to my knowledge
@@BillTheSpill i hope not cuz you just never know anymore
Does it include the mockumentary and the Christmas special?
The original DVDs did, so yes

This kind of niche stuff I’m not actually a part of is fascinating to me and exactly why I love RUclips.
There's always room for more at the Venture Bros table.
but is there censorship like on the air?
Season 1 and 2 are censored, the rest is uncensored.
Thanks man@@BillTheSpill

I've only just now learned of this set's existence, and frankly I'm better off with watching the show on Max.
It’s getting taken off of Max on the 12th.
You're really missing out without the commentary tracks. They're a show on to itself.
Also it's sold as Uncensored, but it's not, all the cartoon nudity is still censored. waste of money!
I know a place on the internet where there's Dr. Venture peen as far as the eye can see!
Man you buy it so warner sees the interest. Vote with your wallets is the only language that corporations understand.
