For the stickers that need to be repositioned slightly because someone else put them on crooked, simply heat up the sticker with a hair dryer and use your thumb to push the sticker around to the desired position, then make yourself a brew and enjoy with a biscuit!

1 year late but if you ever see this Robin gotta just say "👏👏👏👏" thank you.
I have built lego a good while now and if I mess something up I bite my teeth and ignore it but never made a big mistake only ever made it wonky then I recently got the 76178 set and just so happened I had got good at placing stickers so I placed all the stickers that were thrown at me on a step (about 5 stickers as it was like a massive pillar of screens) and only after I realised that some of the pieces were rotated 90⁰, I had panicked as I thought I just completely fucked up, and quickly scurred the Internet for help and your video is the only one I find click on the video and its as simple as a nice cuppa tea, and it ACTUALLY worked then I was so shocked. So thank you Robin you saved my piece👍👍 and made my day😄

Thank you for a revisit to the patented hot tea technique! Very well instructed.
When reapplying the sticker, I put it barely on the tip of the blade to position the sticker on a brick because doing so extends the sticker away from my hand making it easier to position and see what I’m doing, particularly with a small sticker. I hover it over the brick, fine tuning the position of it and press down one corner before smoothing the rest, similar to the way you applied larger stickers with your fingers (I use the blade tip for all sizes). I do the same with new set stickers. Ah, I wrote that before I finished watching. I use the tip of the blade the same way you used the brick separator.

I haven’t watched the video all the way through but nevertheless it friggin worked! Since I was younger, my Plo Koon starfighter had a bubble on one of the stickers. It wasn’t just a bubble because it was along the edge of it. Trying to push it down kinda stretched it so I gave up to avoid further damage. So for the longest time I was to afraid to fix it till I looked up a way to try and reposition it. So I clicked on this. Initially I was worried the old glue wouldn’t re attach from age, but it worked! Granted the stretched part will remain but it’s finally flattened thanks to you!

    Great!
Now I can take off my crooked stickers and ... and reapply them in an equally crooked way.
Because I truly suck at stickers. If I put it on crooked the first time and left it, it was because I couldn't get it straight. I suppose I get a secondhand sticker from someone who is even more abysmal at doing stickers than I am.
(I do think I'm improving in non-sticker-related lego skills. And your buffet car inspired me to create an interior for my restaurant.) (I put in a brick oven. I was pretty stoked about it. I even made a video for it even though I just posted a Sloth City update yesterday.)

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This was a video I was looking forward to seeing for quite some time, and it did not disappoint. I have learned quite a few new tips to use when working with stickers. I'm sure to put them to great use in the future. Personally, I usually use a brick separator when applying stickers, and ALWAYS use it for clear-backed ones, as otherwise, your fingerprints are left on the underside for eternity. One additional tip I would submit, which I also use, is to work with two brick separators for longer and/or recessed stickers. As you saw in your video, the static cling effect will otherwise draw the far end of the sticker prematurely onto the brick before you are ready. When using two brick separators, one at either end, it makes it easier to get sticker alignment, then place the center of the sticker downward when desired. This also helps to eliminate air bubbles. Great video! Keep them coming.

Good thing we can re-do these cause I have bought used lego lots where the stickers were applied by someone with Parkinson's disease. That's a bad joke but u get the point. I guess now all we need is for lego to actually have the stickers cut right. I hate when u have it perfectly center and yet it isn't perfectly center.... Uuurrgg... LOL, love the video RHB! I hope everyone gets that dry British "humour" and enjoyed the video in the lightheartedness in which it was meant. I kept hearing Monty Python's Holy Grail speech about the throwing of the holy hand grenade of Antioch during your declaration that the technique only works with hot tea! 6 teas for this video: wow! How many washroom breaks accompanied that video shoot! Being a 3rd generation removed Brit, I was properly educated to the superiority of tea over other hot caffeinated drinks by my Grandmother. However, my wife does not hold the high standards and drinks that other vile black drink. Yuck! ;) I might have to pick up one of those mugs. Take care sir!

Thanks RHB, love the video! Been waiting for weeks to watch it! I had a few questions though.. in your experience if you are handling the stickers so much, won't the glue rub off on your fingers? How do you prevent that? Have you heard of the technique of using window-cleaner solution (we call it Windex in the States)? Apparently if you spritz a little on the piece and then attempt to apply the sticker it delays the glue from setting just long enough to let you push it around (kinda like what you did for that little 1x2 plate). Curious if you've heard of the technique and/or used it.
    Keep up the great work!

    • @RobinHoodBricks
      @RobinHoodBricks  4 года назад +1

The stickiness stays on the sticker. It doesn't come off onto fingers. I've not tried Windex and I'd be worried it might cause them t fall of in a year's time or whatever, it doesn't sound sensible to me but that's just a guess. Nasty stuff to breathe in as well!

Well my stickers are straighter, clear ones the newer ones turned out, the old ones on the doors came from my cousins from a farm, I pulled them off cleaned them stuck it to sticker paper clean glass then applied it there turned out better then they where way better but a couple bubbles no pealing anymore. So not factory approved to make it perfect you would have to clear off the sticker apply new glue and apply like a window sticker, they must have been eating crackers or cookies on the carpet well putting these on but not as bad as the one I just got, it looks like they applied it then glued it into the frame.
So I’m done with Lego sticks for now!

Fantastic video my friend! I really learned a lot in this video and a great explanation on how you do your sticker repositioning and repair. It's kind of funny I have most of the sets you used for your examples. I never thought of making a rig/jig to help align and center a sticker or using the brick separator for those pesky panel pieces. I believe I'll be doing that from now on, I've been using a tweezers and I feel like I don't have that much control when using those. I have some old town sets that have the clear stickers that went on the window pieces with the horizontal white lines. I think it was to make it look like blinds or something. Can you use the pritt glue stick on the clear stickers, or just try and reheat them to get them to stick? I'm definitely going to have to order a mug in the assistance of doing my stickers and have some earl grey to go along with. 😁👍 you should come out with a patented hot tea technique kit🏹 also. I didn't mind the video being long, it was entertaining and educational. Awesome video and thank you for doing all the work showing us your patented hot tea technique. 🏹

I haven't tried extra glue on clear stickers as only stickers really hanging off have ever needed more glue in the past. For those windows specifically I have bought newer, but identical stickers on sheets for police stations, and quite cheaply too, to add to and replace those stickers!

Does it work with other liquids like coffee or hot chocolate? I don't drink tea and its a waste to buy it use it for the technique and then dump it down the drain. Very helpful technique. I might buy one of those mugs that change color when they get hot. That might be helpful to know when its very hot.
