  • Juan Browne, myself and our friends & families are building a Vans RV-12 aircraft.
    In this video, Charles puts together the stall warning horn, and we get the top skins on the left wing.

    The kids will never forget this as long as they live.

    Why did you opt not to apply zinc chromate primer to internal wing structure?

      It's a bit of a religious point, whether to do it or not. It's all Alclad, we're in a dry climate, we save weight. That's basically the thinking here. My 80 year old Ercoupe wasn't primed from the factory, although it was done when it got to 50 years old...

    Great stuff, got to love an aircraft build especially if you can get the youths involved. I have been invited to a local school to talk to the kid about flying and building aircraft. I hope that they will see that they could do it if they want.

    I see you got that power rivet gun after tiring to use a hand one

      I just did a bunch more hand pops yesterday. As long as it's not crazy work, I always prefer hand tools to power. Too old school, maybe!

    Charles is getting well into this very well! Good to see so much more progress - love the views of the ribs.

    Hello James! Hope you and family are doing well. Are you going back to Oshkosh this year? Probably could take everybody in your new plane. Your son would love it. Just have to watch your fuel load.

      Hey Ron. We are good, thanks. Just completed an annual on the Coupe. Oshkosh is a possibility, we’ll see if we can make it happen. Either warrior and us all, or me and the coupe.

      Looking forward to your adventures. I'm 77 now and come from a tail dragger family. Don't fly anymore, but still enjoy following aviation.

    How can some of the best aviation videos come from one small airport with Brown and Good?

    Wow! The team is really smoking along. As the stall warning was being built, and then shown on the Husky, I pondered, how it would be inspected / replaced. And then you showed the how to. Thanks!

    Coming together very quickly, I'm seeing quite a few 16 year old solo pilots down the track, (not to mention a splendid image for the tail - though I think you might have to get someone to sneak into the hangar in the middle of the night to swing that one passed JB! )

    One rivet at a time.
    The view through the wing is a great piece of art - whoever said art & engineering can't work together.

    Luckily you have a natural born engineer there….he is a sharp kid. Funny to see the Tweety Bird, as you recall my hangar neighbors Coupe is also Tweety Bird.

      Thank you, Joe! He's coming along pretty nicely. Oh yes, I remember on Tweety Bird.

    Isn't there a wing modification that allows you to put the fuel tanks in the wings and get it out of the baggage compartment?

    • @JamesGood
      @JamesGood  Год назад +1

      Hi Scott, yes, there is. Not planning on doing that, though.

    Are there any points during the construction of a homebuilt that require a signoff by an faa inspector? Or a certified a and p mechanic?

    • @JamesGood
      @JamesGood  Год назад

      Yes, I think there is a fairly expensive and time consuming inspection and sign-off by an external party before the first flight.
