LYRICS:
Now I guess it's too late to speculate
On things as they might have been
That given the time, you'd read my mind
And know there was love within
I could loudly exclaim we felt the same
But not in all honesty
Now you'll never know
How could you know the friend that you had in me
I've got so much to learn now
Lessons I never had
When you lose a friend forever
Hurts so bad
Ooh it hurt me so bad
I had always believed that you and me
Were connected by destiny
But the time never came
It sounds so lame
Is it all just my vanity?
Am I the only one to feel the sun
Exactly the way I do?
When you sang how you felt I'd tell myself
Maybe someday I'll sing with you
I've got so much to hope for
Dreams that I've never had
When you've got no one to share them
Hurts so bad
Ooh it hurt me so bad
I have an ideal I think is real
But I just can't find it
I believe that one day
I'll melt away into that lost horizon
Ooh it hurt me so bad
That you had an ideal you knew was real
And you went out to find it
And you found it one day
You've gone to stay into that lost horizon
I had read somewhere this was a tribute to Marvin Gaye upon his passing in 1984. Makes sense, when you hear its vocal interpretation. It's Todd doing Marvin Gaye.
Totally agree. Always thought that too.
Absolutely, I had that thought. Has a Daryl hall edge to it too. What a track. Im also picking up a bit of godley and creme in there too especially in the arrangement.
Yeah heard that for years. Some of his falsetto notes here and the vocal layering sounds Gaye-ish, you can say. And of course “lost horizon” sounds like death. At one point Todd begins vocalizing like the Mellotron Marvin played on Mercy Mercy Me!
Heard the same from my Ma years some time back. Something like perhaps Todd wanted ta meet and collaborate with Marvin but never got the chance to, if that is in fact the accuracy of it.
Beautiful heartfelt song. This album was one of my many and numerous of Todd's growing up. Grew up raised on the oldies.😁🥰🎵🎶 Nearly 40 now. During my late high school years I came across a band Opeth who play an instrumental song titled Epilogue, it reminds me majorly of Lost Horizon.🎸🎹🎵🎶❤️🔥
I could listen to this album all day.
Todd, the fearless one. "A Capella" spent five weeks on Billboard's Top 200 lp chart, peaking at #128 on November 9, 1985.
Thanks for sharing, TW
Peace.
Haven't listened to this in years. I still remember every note.

I got to see this tour, Todd and a eleven voice orchestra! Rainbow music hall. Denver, Colo. Incredible show! A capella! Yes please.
Een klassieke Todd. Héérlijk...
I guess todds trip overseas sparked this album. Much thanks todd.👏👏👏
pure brilliance
Silky soulful yes loved hearing this live as well
I'm surprised they didn't do this on Live at Darryl's House. It sounds very Hall and Oates!
You are right, a very Daryl Hall vocal on this one.
Actually, it sounds very Todd Rundgren.
RIP COLIN CRAWLEY
capital G Genius
banger - shame it was sequenced last on the a side, shoulda been a1

Sounds like Daryl Hall
Sounds like Todd Rundgren!
You mean Daryl sounds like Todd
Very Daryl Hall i agree. I think it's great that they continue to collaborate. Hall's recent live (from May) is up on youtube. They do Hall & Oates' "Remember Me"
There's a reason Daryl sounds like Daryl! The reasons' name is Todd! Don't get me wrong Daryl is awesome and has really come into his own but he was originally heavily influenced by Todd in the vocal department. And hit song writing! "Choose your heroes, choose them well..."!
@@robertmoore9444 I might have to disagree a bit about Todd's influence on Daryl, as I think it was a bit more of a case of parallel evolution: 2 white guys being heavily influenced growing up musically in Philadelphia in the 60s at the start of the Gamble/Huff era. They pretty much say as much in one of the Daryl's House Todd episodes.
