First I saw the words "wandering minstrels" on an internet radio station, WTSQ, I looked it up and saw the bookcover of The Honey Gatherers, by Mimlu Sen, which gave me the word "Bauls", then RUclips gave me this video. Glad I found it. Thanks.
An urge to practice one’s sadhna in a timely manner and the importance of absolute devotion to the divine-taught through music and song. This is wonderful!
Day after tomorrow i am off to shoot for 3 days @Kustia, Bangladesh. I will follow around several Baul Shadhu's in Kustia will visit their homes, gather at several get-togethers with bauls and record several Lalon Shaiji songs. Most of his songs are not written, as most Bauls are not into worldly things, and so this tradition, this culture, has been, and will be only oraly practiced. So the best way to preserve this, is by recording it! appreciate the person who made this, as i will be off to shoot about this subject matter, it is a motivation for me. Thanks
Thank you for capturing and sharing this beautiful devotion to our universe. Your fantastic film-making enhances the effects and impacts tremendously! I'm humbled by the wisdom presented and the Baul's Sufi performance is simply heaven-on-earth. Best wishes always to everyone
In this particular project we just looked into the Bauls who are Hindus and are located around Bolepur. The Sufi's are a different sect though sing the same songs by Lalon Fakir from Kushtiya, Bangladesh. The metaphors used in the song are different and even the Rasa is different in form and performance as a whole. thank you Dan for leaving a comment. You have a good life too :)
Hello Sam price from Alabama .. I have met you in Joydeb mela baul music festival in 2015. I'm a baul tourist I have met lots of bauls and read lots of books about baul tradition... I'm been connected to your FB since 4 years but you have not replied me yet. I want to tell you something about the baul people and baul tradition
