To take such a well known song and to do something so different takes real talent the man is amazing ❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It's just so hauntingly beautiful and somber. It's amazing. I can't, even count how many times I have listened to it since it came out 😂

Thank you for another priceless reaction to Geoff. He has a way to reach deep down into the depths of your soul. The tone in his voice alone makes you feel the music. In order to experience silence you must have sound you can't have one without the other. The different use of sound effects he used to emphasize that was genius.

Geoff has a way of taking the lyrics and singing them in a way that to me makes more sense than the original. Watching his growth as an arranger and with instrumentation is just such a joy. And yeah... God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman is the most epic Carol ever and I still play it daily.

As other commenters, said, Simon and Garfunkel‘s version was the warning , disturb was the angered Version, and Geoff’s is the sad version.

I enjoy your reactions to Geoff and Voiceplay so much. This one, more so than all the rest. With you I felt joy and near tears with it.
Listen to me, go react to My Mother Told Me. Even if you don't react to it, watch Voiceplay's cover. Soon!

For me, I think the reason why I didn’t expect that climax at 6:09, is that in all other versions I’ve heard of this song, it comes a bit earlier. Geoff teases it at 4:52, but instead of a continuing crescendo, he refrains from it and goes back to the very soft singing. That made me think that his version will not have it, but then it came and as a result with an even bigger impact.
I watched your reaction to The Hound and the Fox version and liked it, and I like the Disturbed version as well as the original. This arrangement, however, emphasises the lyrics so much for me, it makes me FEEL them in a way I haven’t before. I love it!

I'm old so at 10 years old Simon & Garfunkel. My granddaughter linked me to Disturbeds' cover blew my mind. Now Geoffs' cover is my new favorite. Warms this old lady's heart and brings back good memories. Made it his own. The smile on your face says it all.

I agree with other comments about this being a sadder , as opposed to angry version but it sure hits the spot. And of course, as a pentaholics, I would be remiss if I didn't mention them! I do love simon and Garfunkel also. As always thank you for the video and commentary

Such a beautiful cover. So melancholy and sad, but there is a light at the end of a long, dark tunnel. This song literally touches my soul and makes me cry every time I listen to it. There just are no words to properly describe how it makes me feel. I heard someone say that the original was the warning, Disturbed's cover was the anger, and Geoff's was the sadness and reflection that comes after.

Lord, he did such a beautiful rendition on Simon and Garfunkel's song and poetry. I also love that Eli did the lighting and Layne did the Steadi-Cam. This is my favorite version while I have Simon and Garfunkel on my top shelf because they taught me so much. I wish Simon and Garfunkel had been nominated for Nobel Laureate in poetry. I had listened to the Hound and the Fox after VoicePlay came out with Running Up That Hill (Stranger Things). They are superb. I will listen to them. I wasn't as satisfied with Disturbed - I did think it was extremely good. My complaint was that the anger was so one-dimensional. I hate being consumed by anger. As such, I don't go seeking out the Disturbed version.

Enjoyed your reaction, Cole. For those in the know - I'm assuming he doesn't use any backing vocalists, this is just his voice layered a la Peter Hollens? The range is impressive and sounds beautiful. 🙂❤

The Disturbed version is more angry; this version is more sad, maybe even sympathetic.

I love the Disturbed version. But I think that one is angry. Geoff’s version is more just sad. I think the only other video without Jeoph, Goff, Jeff and sometimes Darryl is High and Dry. Ghost Riders was his fastest to 1million. This one will probably come close.

Pardon my rant, but if I live to be a hundred and never hear Disturbed's cover of this song, it will be too soon. I keep clicking on reactions to Geoff's video, and people will not stop yakking about somebody else's version. The first couple of dozen times it was just annoying, but now it's actually starting to make me angry. Can we focus on the artist at hand please??
