Best video yet (maybe I’m clouded by nostalgia). Weirdly the most stand out thing to me is that this came out in 2001, I feel like I have a thing for media releases same year of my birth lol. Having watched this, I feel like a lot of my childhood questions have been answered - I 100% agree with your thoughts on the textures of the first elemental mask. I always thought he was made of wood and I was confused as to why the boss battle was rock based. I agreed with most of your points, although I am admittedly a bit of a sucker for vehicle levels, they do go a touch overboard. Excellent video mate, gives that sense of nostalgia while still not holding back on the deserved criticisms. Excited to see the next review. PS: why does cortex pronounce cretin with a long e like that, I hate it
Very true we should validate this game as it wasn’t meant to exist but the consistently of bad gameplay from slow monkey bar, many vehicle and the wide screen. I can’t deny it was fun it just didn’t match up to warped or exceed above it, only it was different perspective of gameplay Very appreciate your hard work for making these retrospective videos look forward to CNK and twinsanity and possibly the titans
I'll be covering the entire series, so CNK and Twinsanity will be coming! I wasn't a fan of the "Titans" games, but Crash of the Titans was LEAGUES better than Mind over Mutant. Of course, we'll cover that in a future video :)
I never played this game for ages and finally got to play it a year or two ago. I was surprised that a lot of online hate was not as valid as I expected. I went in expecting an absolutely terrible game, but it actually... wasn't a bad game. There were plenty of things I didn't like, but it was okay. It wasn't amazing to me, but it was certainly a decent game especially from a different developer. Definitely didn't like the visual style change. It made no sense to me that the PS1 character designs of previous games looked better than the PS2 character designs of this game. As you said, even the entertaining animated vibe of the characters was missing. I found it interesting that you liked the floaty physics of Crash's movement as I did not. I didn't hate it, but it definitely took a bit to get used to and I certainly prefer the Crash 2 and 3 physics much more. The vehicles didn't bother me too much, but it is strange that they leaned so hard into it. A lot of times, it should have just been Crash doing those things with a power-up or using a platform, jump or switch to activate the method of harming the boss. e.g. in the battle against Crunch with Py-Ro's power, Crash could have been on his own all the way through and could have timed a spin to hit a water pipe valve that would spray Crunch with water or something.
Thank you for the thought out response! TWOC does not deserve the hate it gets whatsoever. It was another developers take on a much loved franchise, and they did what they could with the resources they had!
him saying CNK being an improvement over CTR... Reality will smack him down. Controls feel more floaty when it comes to turns (and I 100% the game w/ all gold), but the story does feel more fleshed out (CTR's story was purposefully cheesy & Oxyde was meant to be a joke character, which was Naughty Dog's attempt at sinking the Bandicoot franchise through this bonus of a game as in:"If I don't make crash games, it's gonna be sh!t")
Plz can you do a retrospective about crash bandicoot huge adventure, crash bandicoot blast and crash bandicoot n tranced coz they where good franchise of crash bandicoot tho this version on the vid (warth of cortex was kinda disappointment due to failed design and story if comparing it to orignal naughty dog series in my opinion). Edit: I am a crash bandicoot fan and the most games I've played during 20 years now in my life was crash bandicoot games tho im 22 years old and a half currently.
nice retrospective. the way this game feels and the camera movement was just a turn off for me and I was never able to enjoy it unfortunately. plus the overabundance of vehicles is overwhelming and not what I'm looking for when I want to play crash. id like to see you review Crash XS and N-tranced. they're interesting, especially the latter. (oh and also the gba version of nitro kart, which is definitely better than the console counterpart)
John DiMaggio, the voice for Uka uka, the voice actor for Marcus Fenix in Gears of War & Bender in Futurama. Btw, sensational video frog.
Don't forget Jake the Dog!
4:02 to be honest I think thats the whole point of N Gin. But yeah, I found the designs mostly flawed.

As much as I hate it, no game is perfect. I loved this game so much and then I had to take the nostalgia goggles, it was a rough experience
Bro why did you delete your old challenge runs 😭 wish I could rewatch them they were funny as hell.
My friend it was the end of an era. They may return one day as "legacy" content, but until then, they stay hidden in the shadows
Slight correction: Jess Harnell played Crash from CTTR until CTRNF, not N. Sane
Thank you for correcting me. I have also just realised that he's credited as Crash's VA for "Crash Bandicoot: On The Run!" as well
@@TheFogFrog I forgot that game even existed 💀

I've already finished the Crash series last week, so my opinion has already been formulated. CTR > CNK > CTR:NF is my final thoughts :)
@@TheFogFrog Glad we're on the same page lol
@@TheFogFrog CNK > CTRNF?
Hmm.. what makes you say so?
I have no idea how the video is at 2.3k views with such a good thumbnail
It's been months since this video... what happened since?
✨Depression✨
@@TheFogFrog ah
Its About Time takes place before TWOC iirc
omg, I’m so excited to watch this 👀👀👀
this game is truly an amazing return to crash’s roots, and i agree with a lot of what you Said; great vid!
TWOC doesn’t deserve the hate it gets, but I can see WHY people don’t like it as well
so do you like this game?

There have been a LOAD of requests for The Huge Adventure. It's definitely on the list :)

Agreed
Not mentioning Ronald Lee Ermey’s iconic role in Full Metal Jacket… shame… SHAME.
The final cut of the script was an hour and 45 minutes long and it DID mention that, but so much was left on the cutting room floor!
A "brief" retrospective
That's the joke
@@TheFogFrog lol
The graphics of the N Sane Trilogy has ruined it for me haha, I’d even prefer the retro look of the older ones. These textures are wack
Legends say this game was the reason the UK run out of Clay
The game seem off for me.
It was a well done game for someone who wasn’t naughty dog. It does have its issues but far and wide we’re lucky to have this game to begin with
This games just looks awful imo and the level design save from a few its just underwhelming
