crazy how this game still looks so good. edit: Of course, i didn't mean it looks better than games coming out today.... even though it has the pee color grading, the shadows the lighting and the cars are done really well. that's what i meant.
Game devs used to be so ambitious.. feels like the launch backlash of cyberbug 2077 has made all devs playing it safe now, no big publisher would have the balls to make a game as cool and unique as driver SF today
not really. The reason why you may think so is because most of the advancements in new games come down to lighting. Sure new games also have more polygons but its not the first thing someone would notice because old games compensate their lack of detail by making textures look gritty where new games look too clean too show off their lighting. Basically, perfect imperfection. NFS Rivals did this very well and a modern game that still does this is GRID Legends.
The random timer you see when you use the horn boost cheat is a leftover I forgot to remove in the final build. It was to show myself how long it takes before it resets (it counts to 0.2). It's meant for holding a key down for atleast .2 second before an action happens. What happens if it reaches 0.2? It just applies instant stop/brake! I wanted to release this before the end of the aniversary month of DSF so I kinda forced it out there. I am glad you enjoyed the mod btw :)
Gta 4 was an amazing feel around the times square, it was enough traffic to feel like it was supposed to be times square (compared to traffic density in other parts) but still enough space that you could swing through even with a car
That’s exactly what I want that’s realistic but not certain parts of the map at certain parts of the day should have a lot of traffic not the entire map like real life rush hour time that’s what I want out of a open world racing game
This game is honestly one of the best games Ubisoft has made. I remember this game from when I was a kid. I bought it at Gamestop in like 2012. I still have the game and it still works. It is honestly one of my favorite titles in the Driver Series and it seriously was so ahead of it's time. It was open world with an awesome concept, the story was meh but nobody played it for that, it had a great cars list, some cool addons like the stunt collectables and the side missions, and it had the greatest police chase mechanic ever. It didn't force you to take part in police chases. And the damage was amazing. I would play this game for hours just crashing cars into eachother and seeing what happens. And some of the glitches were really cool, too. Like the bridge glitch that let you drive across the ocean at the top speed of whatever car you were driving. Such an amazing game and it hurts knowing that Ubisoft has tried their best to bury it and pretend like it never happened. I love it so much.
a lot of traffic would make a really good drivers game so players could meet outside the city to race in the canyon on a open world and have events as sanctioned events with city blocks closed down, of course the only busy streets should be the Arterial roads of the city
I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO PICK THIS GAME UP ABOUT A WEEK AGO AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. I GREW UP WITH WHYBEARE'S PLAYTHROUGH AND FELL IN LOVE WITH IT THEN. caps lock was unintentional but the point stands
The most fun in a open world racing game you can get. Normal/Narrow Roads like this, much Traffic and good collision physics (I talk about the normal game, not the mod😂) This is waaaay better and far more entertaining than, for example, The Crew Junkfest can ever be. With its 20m wide roads and 5 traffic cars on the whole map.
Well Driver is a game series that mostly focuses on car chases and crashes. Races in Driver SF are illegal. Meanwhile Motorfest is more focused into festival races Maybe you want to compare Driver SF with TC1? That game had the same vibes as Driver SF did
I think it could be implemented in something like a GTA type game well. Like, you have to navigate the city to get somewhere, or escape cops, or whatever, and maybe the game is coded so certain streets are incredibly traffic-dense at key parts of the day or even week. Maybe your GPS in a game like that would have the roads highlighted in white/yellow/orange/red to denote levels of gridlock. Traffic would force you to get good at rerouting, or navigating back alleys, or mowing through sidewalks without hitting too many pedestrians or city decoration, or even if the car isn’t as important as getting to the destination, you’re forced to leave your car behind and run for a while. I remember in GTA 5 specifically, there was *one* transitional cutscene to Franklin where he was sitting in gridlock traffic in Vinewood, and I was bummed it only lasted during that one cutscene!
Oh yes! Most of the time for myself! This is'nt possible in Games like the newer need for speed games or the new the crew. The crew is waay too ugly and empty and need for speed has a too weird and odd handling model + the points from the crew.
@@FANCY_GTAI enjoy cruising in nfs 2015 and unbound despite the bad handling, and find the crews map beautiful. I suppose we all have our preference. But I agree these games are nowhere near as good as driver sf

imo traffic specifically in cities and freeways should be a bit more, but tbh where most games are now is good enough its just a bit jarring when you got full on cities and freeways with like 3 cars every 1km
It should be remembered that every traffic car follows a course, and there are certain intersections where every car turns. If you want to avoid traffic, you should anticipate when a car is turning in front of you, or going straight. It should also be noted that traffic cars use turn signals. With high density traffic, you should be able to see that.
I absolutely think there is a place for really slow and strategic racing weaving through traffic. maybe not coming to standstills in a traffic jam though. would be especially awesome in a sim with VR
NFS Undercover had a Highway Run event wherein you have to chase an opponent and the traffic was more compared to normal race. Maybe these can be implemented in certain events or at least cities.
4:47 This just makes me want to boot up Burnout: Revenge again, being able to shove traffic so easily & into opponents is pretty fun! Though man, lots of traffic works when it's balanced right. In Revenge's case it works because they're lightweight and crashes don't slow you down much. Or in Midnight Club's case, road width & traffic density, and car handling is balanced enough to encourage dodging and weaving through them, especially with the occasional trailer cab or train crossing the roads, or the higher density, NoHesi-like traffic on highways.
I've played recently played through driver sf and I personally didn't have any problems with the traffic I'd even say it was pretty funny weave through traffic like im playing no hesi
Nice dense traffic. Sadly Ubisoft took the lazy way and it took me a while to realize: The traffic in this game never crosses itself or waits on traffic lights. All streets are blocks and traffic continiously circles around it. Its pretty obvious when you see the right turning lanes at each intersection. No need for traffic lights but a bit unrealistic and nobody gets anywhere :) Still a great game.
Yoooo! I used to love this game! Why Ubisoft doesn't bring back the series?! Now they have the people over at Ivory Tower who know stuff about car handling, physics. ✌️❤️
More traffic feels real.. i guess games like the crew, nfs, forza etc should have an option to max traffic & civilians on the street to make the game feel close to real life. Like try to simulate real life day & night traffic and the amount of people walking around.... i guess it would make the game more interesting.
The giant people had me rolling 😂😂😂 But yeah, traffic is only annoying when you hit them. When I join a no hesi server in AC and accidentally hit a AI car, half the time the car is instantly spinning uncontrollably and you end up just sitting there staring at your screen waiting for the car to stop. Dense traffic can be either fun or the worst thing in the world 😂😂
Imo a bigger part of racing in racing games should be weaving through the traffic. Kinda like the first Fast and Furious movies where they were racing in traffic. Especially for races with 2-4 people. Just full throttling it in an open road gets real boring real fast for me. Plus the slower speeds would make the map feel bigger. I'd much prefer a detailed city map with loads of traffic, like a large Japanese city, than a huge open map with little traffic like forza. Offcourse the handling would also have to allow for weaving through traffic and be more arcade. I think that's what made a game like The Run really fun for me. There was a bunch of traffic and the roads were very tight so it was more than just full throttle and hope to catch up to the AI. Or in the races where there wasn't much traffic, there were really narrow challenging turns and you were racing only one or two other cars, like in the snowy part of the map, which made it a lot more exciting. Nowadays everything is the same. Huge map, supercars, no traffic and full throttle with all assists activated. No wonder people get bored of modern racing games so fast, cough Forza, cough, cough. Give me 1v1ing the AI in small roads with a bunch of traffic and a slow af modded tuner. That's what I want. I actually really liked that specific race in the The Crew Moterfest beta where you 1v1'ed in the Japanese playlist. Exactly what I want, but with slightly more traffic. None of that 7 AI racers, 6 of which you will nitro past in the start of the race and 1 who is really hard to beat and clearly cheating as is the case in Forza and the latest NFS games.
Exactly bro I have the best experience with the run the cinematic gameplay is the best thing plus the cars really have weight and those hairpin turns driving downward mountains were so exciting infact whole game was I wish we could get a sequel to the run

All i gana say is thank you becuese after you made the last driver san fransisco video i wanted to play it and after i played it i fell in love with the game and i still enjoy the game so thx
I think people (Me included) just want a balance. For most open worlds where cars are the main traversal option there is very little traffic and as such it doesn't have an impact on the gameplay until you hit a random car going 300mph and stop dead in your tracks or die. The reason behind that is what I mentioned before, traffic plays so little into the gameplay that you're not actively looking out for said traffic until it's right Infront of you. But with a higher density of traffic (Not like this video) Traversing the roads becomes a lot more engaging, as much so as finding a clear straight and maxing out your top speed. If a game can incorporate both in a good way then i think people would enjoy that a lot better and not have to get either or.
Ah man this looks fun, reminds me of burnout revenge lol, also, another game that I think did traffic good is Midnight Club LA, like it gets pretty heavy but it still isn't overkill, I wish more games did things like that.
Racing games with dense traffic would be annoying, but should be an option for people like to cruise/rp. But open world games with traffic like GTA? Why not.
