I was lucky. WotC put the planeswalkers in FNM reward packs a few years ago. I managed to pull two foil Narsets from them within a month of each other. Sold one immediately to buy packs for the table and dinner that week. Sold the other during covid to keep food on the table for the family along with most of my collection. Congrats on the pulls and have fun on your trip!
Just catching up on this video I love the new channel logo and I love your positivity! Peace and happy Modern Horizons 3 Prerelease day 🎉 Good luck playin sir
Grats on your Amano, I opened about 12 boxes of these chasing a foil Amano after watching Jake and joel :D Best I got was a foil Tamiyo and Nissa who shakes the world.
@@CardboardKiwi yep had to stop due to money lol. I went through my cards after your video, and I never even got a non foil Amano. So you got really lucky too.
congrats on the pull man! it may not be THE pull but its still wicked cool! id love to get my hands on some japanese mtg but im not particularly sure where to look here stateside. i have had the pleasure of opening foreign cards for pokemon (korean and japanese) and yugioh (spanish and japanese) i think ive shared my story about getting to spend time with my best friends opening packs and such but really getting to chat mtg and really tcg in general with you since youve started uploading has been an absolute pleasure. really awesome to see such a variety of sets opened on the channel and your energy is always amazing. keeps me interested and excited by mtg as a whole :)
Thanks Monarch and sorry for the late reply! Hmmm there must be some stores that sell it, Japanese Pokemon Cards sound amazing. I might have to sneak a couple packs in while I'm overe there 😁 spanish yugioh 😲 that sounds spicy! Do you still play either of those tcgs? That's really nice of you to say! I love chatting with you also❤️ It's so interesting to hear people's stories and perspectives from another part of the world 😁 I'm super glad you're enjoying the content. Makes it all worth it.
Back in the old days (96 or so), I was at a store in Los Angeles called "The Pit." I picked up a pack of Italian Legends and a pack of Italian The Dark; $5 each, how could I pass it up! Well, I got jank from them (Axelrod Gunnarsen and Cleanse, respectively; no uncommon worth mention) but it was still kind of fun to crack those packs... even if they do just look like black-bordered Chronicles.
That's such a neat story! I could only dream of being around the game at that time and being able to crack some of those packs. How was it playing then?
@@CardboardKiwi At that particular time? Necropotence, everywhere. Lots of spudlings copying either the pro tour '96 decks (complete with janky "must use 5 cards from every expansion" rule) or stuff out of InQuest magazine.
I went through a phase of opening a lot of these, the JP prerelease packs were pretty good if you could get a prerelease planeswalker. I have a few foil anime planeswalkers. They're really fun to open!
@@CardboardKiwino worries. The prerelease packs are like rocking horse doodoo to find now though. I really want a Nissa! I collect Minotaurs though so happy I managed to snag all the Angrath variants and I believe I also got that stained glass Vraska. Have a great day buddy.
These were from a dude who's LGS had closed a few years back and was sitting on some stock. I don't think they're available anywhere in LGSses here now.
@CardboardKiwi Top 5 personal pack pulls: Jeweled Lotus - Foil, Extended - CMR Chrome Mox - Traditional Foil - 2XM Ancient Copper Dragon - Borderless - CLB Urza's Saga - Foil, Original art - MH2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth - T. Foil - M15 Bonus: a few years ago I bought Sliver Overlord - SCG at a "mom's basement" style of store for $13CAD
RUBES!!! Stop doing this to me. Those Japanese arts are so awesome. I literally want to buy a box of these just to collect the arts. And Fridays creeping up…. You get any preorders?
It sure is! Love her art too! I'm on the other side of the fence of the anime arts, I really enjoy seeing the other interpretations in general- some definitely better than others! Is there an art style you'd be interested seeing on a magic card?
Great question! I very strongly prioritize well priced products, where my expected value is in my favor. I'm all ears though, happy to take recommendations and see what I can do 😁
I cracked a JP Ikoria box over the weekend. It was an accidental purchase -- the price was really right, but I missed the fine print. Ended up hitting two borderless triomes (one foil), 2 basic triomes, an Ozolith, a Yidaro Godzilla in foil, and a Drannith Magistrate. Can't hate that. Also, awesome hit on the Lili. The artist is Yoshitaka Amano, who has done work for many properties but is most known for all of his concept art for Final Fantasy. I'm really hoping that WOTC has Amano working on a bunch of variants for the FF BU set; it wouldn't be FF without him.
I used to live in Japan! Where in Japan are you going to? Unfortunately I can't say much about Magic-related things since I didn't play Magic at all in Japan... Also July??? Are you crazy? Absolute worst time to go with the heat and humidity lol
No way, that's awesome. I'm going to be based in very central tokyo 😁 haha yeah not my first choice for time of the year, it just lined up well with my other travel 😉 it's about 35 degrees celsius where I am now, hopefully it won't be much hotter than that 🤣
Nice hahaha If it's your first time in Japan you might as well do everything all the travel guides tell you to do One thing I'd recommend though is going to Enoshima! I think it's about an hour away from central Tokyo it's this neat little island that has some nice seafood and a shrine on top of the hill on the island. The view around that area is really nice too with the beaches. A couple other things to do around that area too like the Kamakura Daibutsu! Okay at least you're used to the heat hahaha! I hope you're okay with the humidity though!
You keep getting these boxes super cheap. Cheapest I can find this in the US right now is $250. May need to send you the funds and pick one up for me. 😂

Respect man, sorry that it got to that point ❤️ family first, always. Sweet pulls man, and thank you for the kind words, it's gonna be amazing 😁
Such a treat again, congratulations on the 2k subs!
Thank you so much crodd!! ❤️
The noise you make when you saw Liliana is so funny omfg. banger pull
LOL yeah that's hard for me to watch back 🤣🤣 cheers tho!

Dang those still are some amazing foils 😁❤️ is that the hardest you've chased for a specific card?

I definitely chased that Anime Art Liliana! It is so awesome you pulled that, it is some of my favorite art out there for her.
Thanks Ash! It really sticks out and accentuates that vibe or mystique she has. ❤️
Will never forget getting two teferis at my prerelease. What a wild ride that was!!!
That's insanely strong haha, did you smash the event?
Congrats on hitting 2k, you are a good kitty
Wow these look like a lot of fun to collect. Enjoy your trip, Japan sounds awesome
Thanks shirpa, I can't wait 😁

What keeps me coming back to MtG: I seem to have exceptional luck with pack pulls
What is the single best one you've had?

Hey ck! just wanted to let you know that im still around, ive just been busy. great video!
No worries Hydro, glad you're still there ❤️❤️
Are Japanese boxes easier to find on that side of world? They are pretty hard to come by in the great white north.
It doesn't look like it's sitting in any lgs's at this point in time 😭 was heaps around originally though.
RUBES!!! Stop doing this to me. Those Japanese arts are so awesome. I literally want to buy a box of these just to collect the arts. And Fridays creeping up…. You get any preorders?
Haha dude I wish I had more 🤣 being in europe now I can see how tough some prices around the world are. MH3 Pre release kit was 80 euros/86 USD 🤯
Jesus, I paid $55 US for Prerelease box, $75 for Bundle, $99 for Gift Bundle, $249 for Play booster Box
Is that Lili art Yoshitaka Amano? Not a big fan of the anime art versions but that's an awesome version of my favorite necromancing planeswalker
It sure is! Love her art too! I'm on the other side of the fence of the anime arts, I really enjoy seeing the other interpretations in general- some definitely better than others! Is there an art style you'd be interested seeing on a magic card?
Do you take suggestions on what you open next or are these what you find for a great price?

@@CardboardKiwi Im always happy to just see a new video, But Return to Ravnica is my favourite set of all time. That would be a treat to see.
The first draft I did I pulled a shelildred the apocalypse in foil and phyrexian
Seriously!? What an insane hit. Did you have to pause the draft and ask what was happening or were you aware of it?
@@CardboardKiwi I don't know it was a good card at the time I only pick it because I thought it looks really cool
Yooo, not much to say but good luck. I'm not a brave enough person to chase this one.
