      Whose fault is that?
      You Americans are pathetic.
      Race Race Race Race Race
Your school is their to teach you BASIC FACTS of History, Geography, Math Science & English.
Its not a place to cater to your own personal family history.
Its their to get you used to waking up and being somewhere at a certain time .. like a job is.
Give you basic facts the REST OF THE 🌎 KNOWS but Americunts are so moronic most of you dont even know where any countries are on a globe or unmarked map 🤣

As a Puerto Rican who moved out of the island and never got the opportunity to learn my history especially since American history becomes over taught in the island , this made me cry . His crisis was a crisis I have and seeing someone like me dealing with it it felt like a huge weight off my shoulders but it makes me somberly sad and I mourn that I will never see what our people could have been if Yt people didn’t sneeze on us

@Shawn,.. wow what a pathetic life you have. To be so focused on race and not the other 90 million other things that make up life & the world. You had American privelage, which means if you have no criminal record YOU can work and save a little each year to get a base and a passport AND MOVE to any of the other 194 COUNTRIES
If dirt poor people can manage to scrimp & save for years to get from Afghanistan allllll the way to America... WTF is your excuse?

I am white and Hispanic. I studied the history of Hispanics in college because my babies are indigenous to the US, black, European. When we study one race we are studying others. I don’t like having Hispanic Heritage Month. Or, Black History Month. We should be teaching as much about all cultures as we do about the Western World. In my last job we ‘taught’ World History but it was really Western World History. My heart broke and I didn’t want to teach anymore. India has a glorious history. Indigenous History is equally glorious. Curriculum didn’t mention Aboriginal’s history wasn’t mentioned during our studies about religion because it wasn’t a ‘main’ religion. However it is the longest consecutive practiced religion that I know of. Well, you get my drift. I was told I needed to teach about important history. I was so glad to retire. I am sorry we, the Ed System let you down.

I just finished watching this show and am two years retired from teaching Social Studies. I feel the battleground on this information. I taught this in my classroom in AZ. I also taught about great cultures of Africa. When I moved to Missouri this changed. I was teaching ‘too much about unnecessary information’ and needed to teach to the governed curriculum. I hated my job then. Why has truth been so hard to accept? Why don’t we celebrate the people entrapped by slavery while also condemning slavery itself? Why not understand the truth of all the treaties that have been broken by the US government? Every people is worthy of honor and Justice. Every people and nation in this World contributed and needs recognition through one system. Honor our identities within classrooms that recognize the greatness of each kind. Climb the hierarchy for change. John, this was so worthy to watch and I thank you. My babies are brown and black and I love them and their history.

Too many people on here not even listening to his jokes and taking them as "John thinks this is Latin history". No. He is making a mockery of what society assumes they know as Latin History. As if it all started with the Mayans, and somehow we magically came to be Latinos. That was the joke. If you're too confused to get his humor and sit through this show, then open a freaking book people.

You should'nt say things like just open a book, there are a lot of books and you still may not understand without proper schooling. It is the persons job that is disseminating information to make sure it is correct and to cite their sources and if they are joking to make that fact crystal clear. We are living in times where people ask celebrities opinions all the time regardless of whether they are educated or not we also put them in positions of power so it might be safer to let people know up front. Also I'm pretty sure he is not joking.

No, it shouldn't. This is not historian. I get it is a comedy show, the problem is that there's a lot of people in here, like you, for example, who believe this is history. It is not. It is a show. In fact, he butcheeres Hispanoamerican history quite a lot, and perpetuates stereotypes and fake assumptions about history.

@@goodaimshield1115why do you believe this isn’t true information? I know the part about syphilis is still debated, but everything else he said was pretty spot on with what I was taught in college. He isn’t ‘just’ doing comedy. JL is taking something personal and answering the question in his heart. He has a irate information, although I am not convinced Mochtezuma turned on his own people. Records from that time are hazy. There are images of Mochtezuma being tortured by having his feet burned by flames and Conquistadores waiting for him to give in. So, where did he get it wrong? Maybe he should have mentioned how badly the Conquistadores smelled and the Nahuatl people thought they were dirty. Or maybe about the Chiapas that cleaned the water of the lake which surrounded Tenochtitlan until it was safe to drink again. So much more could be learned.

    I need to teach my kids, daily, that they are not second class citizens as they are taught in school;
they are called Mexican, Hispanic, Latino's and based first on how dark their
skins are, they are American and American does not mean white. My kids are very
light to very dark skinned, and EVERYONE (white, black, brown, teachers,
students etc.) try to tell them who they are based on their skin color.
Cristobal Colon aka Christopher Columbus, did not speak English and did not
land on Plymouth Rock, he spoke Spanish and Italian, a form of
"romantic" LATIN. Latin, Latino, Latina was already in a Spanish
dictionary in 1789 (Diccionario de la lengua española). In United States the
Census Bureau defined Latino/a in 1970 to herd people into groups to better
control them. You cannot create a new definition and not expect to have
confused masses, their neurons get crossed as Leguizamo's was and went to
counseling for it. Imagine other Latin words in everyday English then changing
the definitions, it would change everything we know..... A citizen is an person
in a country where you are documented as a citizen........... American is
American.... Divide and Conquer is a true strategy used even today on the every
day person, "they" tell you who you are and it tears society apart
from the inside. The new definition of "Latino" is not correct and
should not be used as it is, but those calling themselves that need to
understand that they ARE those "White People", along with being
Native American Indian and African (depending on the individual),
"Latinos" ARE, what they consider others, as the good and the bad in
history.. If they knew the correct historical facts they would know the
strength in their bloodlines and use the actual, hundreds of years old
definition and not the newer incorrect definition........ Not knowing facts
    makes us all weaker....

    • @filez2012
      @filez2012 6 лет назад +3

How can you find a "Latino Hero" if the definition was recently changed 1970? If the latin word 'Solo' was redefined as being a happy stinky worm picker, what would you thick of Han Solo?

There seems to be many Hispanics that simply don't know their own makeup and even assume that they are more Mayan and or Aztec than Spaniard at times. Michelle Rodriquez, Jessica Alba had their DNA profile done on the George Lopez show and they both came up 70% European. I would bet Sophia Vergara is the at least the same. George Lopez was 50% European. The Spaniards came and mixed with the indigenous and Hispanics are a mixed ethnic group with varying percentages of the mix. Your eyes don't deceive you, it is pretty clear that Sophia V is dominantly European. It is clear that George is not. Spanish is another white language, Catholicism is a white religion. It has long been proven that Mayans, Aztecs and all the rest have Asian bloodlines so really Latins are a Asian and European mix, and in some cases even African mixed in.

I know its a comedy but he takes history so lightly on México. The way he talks about Aztecs or Mayans civilization is way to vague. As mexican living in México all my life i feel he´s not being respectfull enough to our ancestry and culture that we love so much we not only had those two cultures but so many more like Olmecas,Toltecas, Zapotecas, Mixtecas, Mexicas, etc, etc. How he describes Moctezuma and makes fun of him makes me mad, he´s being kind of a bully on its own. He never even talks about how Aztecs kept fighting untill they managed to take out the Spaniards form the Great Tenochtitlan and how the last Emperor Cuauthémoc reorganised the mexica army and fought bravely to his defeat later to be tortured, burned his feet and hands with oil and fire, he was a true HEROE. Fast forward 1808 Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla (HEREO), José María Morelos y Pavón (HEROE), Agustín Iturbide (HEROE), Vicente Guerrero (HEROE) fought and won "La Independencia de México" on wich they defeated the Spaniards crown to proclaim our country as "México". As you can see Spaniards never really won this war, we maintain mexicans from México with all our richness in our culture we sure lost a lot and should give more respect to our Indigenas but pur history as country is not to take lightly.

Alejandro Gonzalez I do agree with your thoughts on this. I'm not sure exactly what ancestry Leguizamo is but at least he's the only latin actor/comedian who's doing something to give attention the Mexican history. Yes, I do see what you mean about how simple, quick and light his conveyances are on history but it would be a bit lengthy if he were to express as much information as your pointing out. I was amazed at how much he explained with the time he did. I thought it was very funny! Having a good amount of knowledge of history It was refreshing a encouraging as an American of Mexican descent to see how he gave all the history that was explained in such a comedic way. I cried at the tragedy and losses through the history explained and laughed so hard at his eccentric satirical presence and comedic stand up. There should be so many more performances like this!

He also said 20 million aztecs.... The Aztecs were only found in MEXICO CITY(downtown district-zocalo) and Tenochtilan was at max 100,000. He also miserably failed to mention the CHICHIMECA wars in which Spain got their ass whooped by the Chichimecs(the aztecs had already defeated them). Also the MAYANS were never conquered by Spain, it wasn't until the 1900s that Porfirio Diaz finally annexed them and included Yucatan, Campeche and Quintana Roo Mexico, prioro to that the Mayans were independent. Also didn't mention that the Fall of Tencholtilan was because of the TLAXCALAS ( puebla super state). Also the Spanish cannons were weak , remember this is the 1510s and it took 5 minutes to reload a Musket, none of the Spaniards were trained soldiers. Only 40/200 Spaniards survived.
Also the Racial genetics he points out are so innacurate. At least 40-60 % of Mexicans are 80-100% indigenous pure bloods. The Spanish didn't really mix with the Mexicans to have 100% of the country today be mixed. Its IMPOSSIBLE. At least 20% of Mexicans today are descendants of the Spanish and Mexica mix but that was only found in the Big Cities like DF,GTO, Guadalajara, Veracruz. If youre from OAXACA you are not a descendant of the Spaniards, the MIXTEC and ZAPOTECS are a homogeneous people.
So Mexicans should not be included to this LATINO list.
His history is accurate of the rest of South America and Carribean but Mexicos is way too complex for him to understand.

I personally see a lot of honour and glory in Hispanics cultural heritage. Especially during the 300-year Viceroyalty period. Hispanics were like NASA astronauts of 500 years ago - Exploring the unknown, and the unthinkable from the Mediterranean to the Antarctic sea, as well as the massive Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans. I was shocked when I found out from the biography of a German-Protestant-Freemason (The incarnated historical rival of a Mediterranean-Spanish-Catholic); whose name was Alexander Von Humboldt, describing in his memoirs the advancement and the progress he saw in different regions in Hispanic-America during his travels in 1805. Back then, Hispanic-America was ahead of the game!
Truth is that after the Hispanic Monarchy collapsed in the 1800s, the political elites that led the new independent countries were probably the most cynical and corrupt the western hemisphere had ever seen. Simon Bolivar, Jose de San Martin, Bernardo O'Higgins, Miguel Hidalgo, Vicente Guerrero, Miguel de Santa Maria, among others - They all sold their respective national sovereignty to the best bidder...
"Un pueblo que desconoce su historia, esta condenado a repetir sus errores" - Jorge Santayana. 0:50 NOT Santana.
I find all cultures fascinating, the English, the Italian, German, Ethiopian, Scandinavian, Arab, Chinese, Mayan, etc. I do however find the Hispanic quite especial. I also believe that Hispanics really need to learn their own history well. Leguizamo is a talented and funny actor, but Hispanic History is no joke, because sadly a great number of Hispanics tend to buy all this crap as factual. No, Latin it's not your "native" heritage. It's the heritage of the Italians and of the Latin Europeans. You are Latin Americans and Latin is not your skin color, not your race, not your ethnicity, not your blood. The Latin in "Latin" America was brought by the Latin European colonizers, French, Portuguese and Spaniards, with their Latin-derived languages. French , Portuguese and Spanish, which were imposed upon you. This is why called that area "Latin" America.

However, his reference to George Santayana, who is an -ez-surnamed person, and his quote makes a reference to -ez-surnamed people being Hispanic and no it's no reference to indigenous peoples btw, no one argues that -ez-surnamed people are indigenous Americans. It's a reference to Visigoths. Like no (more to idiots than John), -ez-surnamed people are the ones who created Spain by conquering the indigenous Spaniards, they're the ones who were oppressive, they are Germanic, and they are white with Frank Lopez English accents and say "scumbag" left and right.
Nuyoricans and Italians are non-white with Latin English accents and say "bro". And while this piece doesn't say anything along the nonsense of the opposite of the last sentence, it comes dangerously close.
I've seen multiple dumb things said in "Rocky" and "Saturday Night Fever" and "Sopranos" (Nuyoricans [in the first two] and Italians [Spaniards are shown to be Riveras and Delgados instead of -ez-surnamed, a flip flop from the previous two, last one] are white with Frank Lopez English accents) - which is just dumb.

And he now has a wellspring of fodder. If he is so confident, let him have a panel discussion with historians of the time and region. Because he is talking about 3000 years of Latin history. Guess what, Latin and is truly a linguistic classification. Latino, “LatinX” are a blend largely people of Spanish descent mixed with indigenous peoples of the Central American continent, up through Mexico and the southern American states over a few hundred years. It must be remembered that metzisos , who he is largely identifying in his preliminary analysis, are a blend of indigenous peoples and the various groups with which they mixed.

La Malinche may not be interpreted correctly either. I did not see where he painted indigenous people as one harmonious group either. He speaks of Indigenous people as being The People of the Lands now known as America, North, Middle, and South. Or, Just North and South or the Americas. No cultures have been that good so far in history, not that I heard of anyhow. Heard of the Inquisitions? The forced slave labor the Europeans inflicted upon those Indigenous cultures? Why is there a difference? Because we don’t relish any of the bloodshed. Any High Art form will include aspects of culture including politics. Comedy includes it all. Maybe there is this anger because everyday my children went to school they were not taught about all their history. They just seemed to be taught a lot about some dead white guys in Europe.
