It is used to give the tempo of the music (metronome), to hear themselves, to know where they are in the song and which song they have to sing (at the beginning of the performance). Now this a good situation to post. Everyone else with other idols jewelry coming off or a piece of hair falls in front of their face, would all say, that idol is so calming and strong. They didn’t lose composure and still gone through it. Like, I’m over here screaming on how stupid are these fans. Their jewelry came off, WOW! That would affected the idol a lot, from NOTHING. But to lose your ear monitor, now THAT idol is strong and calm.
Respect your opinion but fans are not stupid but they are too emotional for their idols and sometimes they didn't see the situation they are too accurate I think

Or sequencer or even the talkback from sound engineer or music director to give the artist cue. Because it's hard to listen your own voice on the big stages and the audience crowd. Also the artist can stay on tempo because the k-pop artist do dances and difficult choreography to on stage. I really proud of her because she still can stick to tempo, sing in tune, and put badazz face still even a little accident happened. Such a professional artist! You born to be a performer!! Here the brand i might notice from the video : Sennheiser EW IEM G4 or Sennheiser EW 300 For this thing, usually the artist have their own bodypack in ear monitor package, and ther customize in earphone (are made for personal and pricey) that management aor agencies provide for the artist. And mostly the stage manager are arrange the this thing directly to their personal manager for performing needs. That's why the idol need to participate in grand-rehearshal before the concert begin. (To check the balancing for idol voice and music) I hope this helpful for you guys!!
