The only way I can apply the medication to my cat is by surprising her. I keep the open medication in one hand and I grab my cat by the scruff with the other, she is momentarily surprised and I can apply the medication this way. Sometimes, though, if I am not quick enough she will escape. My vet has given me a dose that I only need to apply every three months so that she is not stressed too often by the ordeal :) Also, no vet has ever told me that it is ok to just treat the house.
Mine too! I can't get him still and it ends up more on the fur than skin. and he's very long haired. He actually knows when up to something like that because he will avoid me at all costs even if he hasnt even seen the tube or anything. He just knows! Once I get him, nothing but a complete fight. Yeah sure 2 people is better than one but if you dont have someone else, how the hell do you get them on alone
@@cheradubi1194 I've had success now. I get my cat's favorite temptations treats. Put the box in the bathroom sink. I already have the flea medicine open in there. I get a large towel on the floor, I bring my cat in the bathroom with me, close the door so she can't escape. I do the "taco" wrap on her. Put the cat on one corner of the towel, wrap it tightly around her front legs and then back legs & over her body. Once I have her wrapped up tight, she doesn't fight or hiss or scream. She calms down. I put the flea medicine on her neck. Then I put her down on the floor, give her the treats. After she's eaten them, I let her out of the bathroom and we're friends again!... I hope this will help someone else...😻😻😻
The best way that kind of works for me is make she is relaxed and petting her ! Before that I get her tube ready and put aside in a place so it won’t spill .. then with fingers crossed I start to apply it in the back of her neck but parting her dense thick fur is another obstacle . She will start to get figety if I take too long but it’s important to get it on her skin and fur..also if it’s the medicine is stating to flow on her fur I have to get a second spot behind the first ..
2 of my cats fur is so thick, layered and deep I have to snip a fur patch out day before then apply meds while they are licking a liquid treat. They can smell the meds as soon as I pop it open. Have to be sneaky!
I have 4 cats, and 1 is an outdoor/indoor. I can tell you that treating your house will not prevent fleas from clinging to your cat. I HAVE treated my house before with a commercial grade preventative called TinGuard. If you don't treat the cat, the fleas will always be there and always come back. They will burrow into any fabric they can. The best thing is to *invest in a 3 month flea treatment and catch your cat off guard. If you have more than 1 cat, it's best to treat 1 cat a day, as the others usually get spooked when they realize it's treatment time.*
I thought that was the original question but it was NOT answered. My cat is the same I hate having to apply it. Here she says treat the whole house - huh?
Diatomaceous earth (food grade) is amazing, it *can* bother your respiratory system or so it's said, ive used it on my farm garden, animals, chickens, cats, dogs, and rabbits... it not only helps combat fleas, but is a no fail for worms that dogs and cats get via a parasite fleas transfer when the animal ingests flea. I bathe my cats and dachshund in dawn dish soap and mix cold pressed neem oil which is also natural. Its a true battle, but its a war you can win! 🙂 after nearly losing our dachshund to prescribed flea meds, we went the natural route and let me tell you, its amazing! Good luck
Trust me, the "All Natural" ones don't do shit. Whether it's fleas, ants, spiders, mosquitoes, etc.......All bugs just tale the hit and then just laugh at you as they slink back into the pit from whence they came. Get yourself a can of "Raid". And not the "Earth Friendly" or the "Green" bullshit kind. Get the old school shit. The stuff that has a giant Fucking warning on the label that basically states, "If any living being cones into contact with this shit, call an ambulance or prepare to die". I sprayed a spider with some of that "All natural" "Earth Friendly" "Green" "Sustainable" shit and I damn near used the entire Fucking can. I swear I could hear the Goddamn thing laughing at me at as I emptied more & more of that weak ass shit onto it. Trust my experience. Get the good shit.
I used to be able to use the scruff of her neck and she never hated me for it but at 13, I think she's gonna plot my death. I mean, should I try it again?
the answer she gave in a roundabout way: don't bother with topical flea treatments because the fleas aren't mostly on the cat, they're in the environment, so treat the environment if you have a cat that resists topical flea treatment (and I would add, take them to the vet for a flea bath if they do have fleas on them while also treating the environment)
What the heck is this, you got the title totally wrong, that cat is just sat waiting for the treatment, thats not why we came here, click bait. BLOCKED!
Thanks 👍 It's great to know it's better to treat the cat's environment (bedding) with anti-flea preparations, and that that's more effective than applying pesticides to my cat herself. Good advice.
@@destineejordan7708 my point was to avoid getting the treatment onto the animal, by treating the environment in a way to avoid the cat licking the treatment off its paws. As such, I kind of agree and disagree with you.
My boy cat pays no attention when I put Advantage on him. My girl cat bolts away hissing if she even hears me push the little tube through the foil on the back of the package. A towel wrap is gonna cover the back of her neck, so I can't see that working..... *SIGH*
SO the solution for a kitty who hates anti flea spray is to simply not spray them and get rid of the ones in the environment? Wtf? Listen lady, I dont like this ring around the rosey answer you are giving me, im guessing if my kids hate wearing sun screen your answer would be to put on a jetpack and go patch up the ozone layer myself?
This doesn't really answer the question.. How to get my super scared cat to not be so difficult when it's time to apply his flea medicine..? He avoids me for days afterwards 🥲
The question is 100% relatable to my situation. The answer is 100% useless!
I love the vet's non-answer.
Yeah wth kind of answer was that 🤣
"It's very important that you apply flea medicine to your cat, so if they fight you, just apply it."
She really did not answer the question. She just said "treat the house". Wow!! Click bait.
Thank you. She gives zero advice about how to apply it.
Pest control company. Treat the house and fleas are gone.
PET EXPERT: What To Do When Your Cat Resists Topical Flea Treatment. Answer: Here's my friendly happy cat and I won't give him flea treatment.
Yeah right. Thanks for nothing, Doc.
I actually rewatch it thinking I had missed something the first time...lol
Glad to see I'm not only one who thought this video was worthless.
Didn't address how to treat a resistant cat...
Very misleading title .
yes, she did not address a resistant cat and it is a misleading title. was hoping for a solution.

How to apply bug spray to an unwilling child: eradicate mosquitoes from Earth
Hahahahah right. She didn't answer question.
I know what you mean. Mosquitoes are demons from hell. Really bad right now.
Worthless - didn't address treating the cat nor mention the alternate products to use in the home.
Didn't even address what kind of environmental stuff to use, what is it a anti flea blanket or something?
My thoughts exactly lol. Do WHAT once and i’m done?! It would definitely be nice to know!
“I really enjoy talking about fleas”
Ok lady
She must be great at a Dinner Party.

Exactly. From what I've been told is you must treat the cat. They feed off the cats. If you treat them, the fleas will die as will the pupae and eggs.
My cat knows I am gonna try and put flea drops on and runs away. How do you make a cat sit still for 15 seconds to put drops on without sedating them?
Break their legs ?😼

what type of natural products and where and how to apply them to the environment?

We use flea treatment that protects against several different infections. So, any tips for actually getting them ON your cat?...
Slap a dislike on the video so they KNOW people are not happy with the misleading title and lack of any usable information.
To answer the question, put it on when your cat sleeps so it’s less of a struggle. This goes for cutting their nails too.
I tried that, but it wakes him up, and he goes straight into flight mode.
Since she didnt help any of you let me just say use a pillow case. Wrap the cat up so you dont get scratched. Apply topical solution
Which flea product does she use in the environment inside the house that works that well?
Wow this must be the worst title ever for a cat help video! She doesn't adress the question at all!

What IS the product? We are getting eaten alive! We have a large old home with 3 cats and seemingly millions of fleas. 😱
I use frontline gold. For the house, I’ve thrown baking soda,, or salt,,, lately diatomaceous earth
Food grade
i freaking goddamn wish i could shrink in a micro size so i could beat the fleas butts 1 by 1.. am i the only one who have this idea..?
Why don't they just make flea birth control?

Well, that was no help. No help at all.
Well that was a waste of time. Also treat your pets for fleas and worms. Don’t just rely on the environment.
Don't forget ear mites!

Ambush and towel wrap. Flea topicals seem to cause irritation. Just gotta hold that cat immobile until the topical dries.
