    If you can afford this as a first car you're better off buying a ~2013 model with around 60-80k miles on it and saving the 16k for a much more fun ride 3-4 years later. The Ibiza is a fun little run around, I bought my 2013 1.4 SC a little over a year ago as a first car (only started driving at 23 and could afford a little more) and it has been a blast. Definitely recommend the post 2012 mk4 with a very stylish facelift for a little more Spanish flair than a Polo or a Fabia.

    Hi mate. Hopefully you could help me out looking for a car, and maybe make a video on it. I’m 18 with 1 year no claims bonus and have a budget of at max £12k with insurance. I’ve been saving up for 3 years.Would like something sporty, practical and good on fuel as I do around 10k work miles per year on the motorway. It would have to be a 5 door either saloon or hatchback. I have toyed with the 1.4TFSI Sline a3 but wondered if there’s anything else you would recommend with decent performance. Thank you.

    My mom had a 2017 fr of this gen. it had the 115 bhp engine and it’s an absolute game changer. Great acceleration for such a small engine and a lot less turbo lag than the one you are driving. She had it in manual so that may also be a factor of the acceleration.

    This is on a new platform with the new Polo 2018- and T cross and the Seat Arona are also on the same platform. The Fabia you did is still on the platform with the old Seat Ibiza 2008- and old Audi A1 and Polo 2010-
    I believe the gear change recommendations are based on economy driving and the DSG gearboxes are also mapped to do the same. But you can still put the DSG boxes into a manual mode if you pull the stick across and the FR trims with a DSG gearbox with 115bhp have a sport mode for the gearbox which hangs onto the gears for longer

    Not exactly a car review request, but have you ever considered installing a Clifford or VIPER alarm and immobilizer system to your Polo 9n at all? My uncle's got a Clifford one for his Subaru (which came with the car when he bought it well over a decade ago now, even for a Japanese import) but personally I think it would do for a good episode of the Useless Polo Project as well as a good guide on how to further protect your car from thieves as there aren't a whole lot of them or at least not from many big car RUclipsrs from what I know of.

    Ive driven the previous gen Ibiza also with 1.0TSI 110-ish HP and gotta say they really quirky in terms of driving. They feel really nice to drive, quite responsive and with a DSG gearbox you get a comfortable drive as well as sporty. Main problem I have is that they still feel cheap on the inside in terms of materials and they aren't really loaded as much as you would want. Sure you get the multimedia which is nice altho not the most user-friendly ive met and it does get the job done at the most part. This car can be a brilliant first car if you ask me but never buy new, the depreciation on these is pretty strong and buying an older model would be the choice for me.

    I drive 100’s of cars a month. These little 3cyl need the right gear, at the right time or you are smoked by Audrey on her mobility scooter. I absolutely agree though, they are so much fun! Not for £19k.

    You should try and get your hands on a 2007-2014 Mazda 2 to try for one of these vids. They’re in 1.3 or 1.5, and the majority I’ve seen for sale are cheaper than the fiestas of similar spec. Fairly stiff suspension in these so good fun to throw around! Gear stick sits high on the dash so nice short shifts too. Mines the iconic green from the lv ads😂. I think they aged super well looks wise too! Insurance is about average on them I think.

    "This is a different car to the Fabia" - is it?
    £19k is E63/M5 money, heck you can get a Bentley GT for that, only companies should be buying these things new. It's also almost exactly what I paid for my Lexus GS450h 2.5 years ago- did 25k miles in that and it's now up on Autotrader for £17k. I can't think of any good reason why someone would spend even half this money on a 1st car...
    Edit: Keyless = no need for storage, why take the key out of your pocket in the first place? ☺

    • @CarsWithJB
      @CarsWithJB  4 года назад +1

      Haha 1) no it’s pretty much the same thing, and 2) 100% - I can’t understand the mindset of getting one of these as first cars, and now knowing there were kids when I was at school in brand new Polos and Fabias etc. makes me think why did they not just get something cheaper!
      Re keyless - probably me being a princess, but I never drive with stuff in my pockets - always annoys me for some reason!

    • @ApothecaryTerry
      @ApothecaryTerry 4 года назад

      @@CarsWithJB To be fair stuff in my pockets does bother me too. My Lexus was keyless and I used to empty my pockets for long journeys but for daily stuff it was nice to just get in and drive.
      Can buy a Bentley GT for £15, an Ibiza costing more than that seems insane.

      Insurance
      Insurance
      Insurance
      If I could insure a £8k V8 Audi S5 or a £4k BMW 330ci I would....... but no I’ll have to stick with my 1.4 Golf until I’m 48, a homeowner and have 93 years no claims discount

    • @ApothecaryTerry
      @ApothecaryTerry 3 года назад

      @@youtuberperson7947 For anyone whose parents aren't loaded, a new car like the one in this video isn't on the cards until they're in their twenties anyway. By then, insurance on a much nicer car really isn't that expensive.
      Then you get "old" like me- I'm 32, and insuring my Porsche costs me £255 per year with protected NCD, legal cover and minimum excess. Most McLarens come in at under £350. I've only owned 2 cars that cost me more than this Fabia and they have a total combined power output of 817hp...but even with 2 claims on my record, insurance never went over £500.

    • @youtuberperson7947
      @youtuberperson7947 3 года назад

      @@ApothecaryTerry btw I’m not arguing the point of owning a new £25k car for your first car. My first car was a £650 Ford Fiesta. I’m now 18 and currently driving a 2016 VW Golf that I bought outright myself, I admit it’s an expensive car for the power it has (125hp), but the insurance is pretty good for a car that does 0-60 in under 9 seconds along with my age. There’s plenty of cheaper, but nicer and more powerful cars but I simply can’t insure them..... Plus, depreciation isn’t as bad as people think if you get a good deal on a 4 year old or more car as long as you get the right car and spec for the right price

  • @MightyStokefan

    That lag you were on about, sounds like the same thing that happens in my mum's focus 1.0 EcoBoost. Sometimes I wanna run away from junction, you gonna floor it and just nothing happens, literally, and you just like "oh shit, oh shit, oh shit" and then it starts going, honestly so annoying.
    I would rather have the turbo spool at high rpm and have the torque to move down low.
    Compared this focus to my 1.5 Honda CR-Z... It's same power, yet my Honda was much faster stock and much more drivable.

    • @royliber3824
      @royliber3824 4 года назад

      I have 2017 Renault Clio 0.9TCe engine with 90HP and its exactly the same. I swear theres no power in lower revs and my previous car did better when it comes to like 0-20 acceleration overall. Only at like 3500RPM-ish, suddenly all of that "hidden" power it got roars to life pretty much. Also gotta say its kinda frustrating when driving a manual to have that "double kick" you get from the engine whenever you change gears then turbo turns on... All in all its really fun car to drive and the turbo definitely spices things up a bit when driving to work haha.

    • @slightlyinsaneraf
      @slightlyinsaneraf 4 года назад

      @@royliber3824 true, small turbos are wank imo tho.
      I would rather have displacement to move down low and have turbo for whenever I wanna go fast.
      Setup on my Honda is nearly perfect.
      I got enough torque and power to move down low and turbo starting to spool like motherfucker at like 3500RPM. Nearly perfect setup and it pulls like stupid to redline, where in Focus it's all between 1500 to 4000~ RPM where everything is, redline is at 7000, but there is no point going over 5000 cuz there is no power at all.

    I dont think you need to make videos of "is this car a new car" unless that car is 5+ years old. The answer will always be 'why the fuck would you spend that much on a first car when you can save the money, get a cheap used banger car and then save for your next car when you turn 20 or some shit. Even if the car is amazing, it's not worth the money they'd lose over time. If your parents are so rich that they can buy you this, let them buy you a used BMW or something and then lump up 6k for insurance.
    I get why you are making them, since you're on holiday and are taking the opportunity, just not a serious question as a first car.
