I think the big indicator that he saw it coming was the fact he moved his knife from his boot to the back of his belt prior to leaving. He always kept that knife in his boot
I like that the statue he is standing in front of depicts Temperance, which is not a person or a figure, but rather a virtue, or something to live by. Temperance means to be calm, patient, self-controlled, to take the middle road. Jimmy often tries to demonstrate temperance by not resorting to violence as quickly as others; he prefers to talk civilly, rather than threaten. He only uses violence if he has no other choice.
Great comment, 👍 thanks 😊 👍 🙏 😀Actually love love this show, and I love the Arnold Rothstein character. HE to my embodies this virtue. But he still had to let his dioynusian impulses ie gambling. Well anyway, I was confronted with a situation where I had to display temperance, and I passed with flying colors.
Jimmy was an extremely clever guy. He had been at an ivy league uni before signing up for the war. He was basically damaged goods after that and could'nt do anything else other than be a gangster.
Imagine just how many ruthless gangsters and psychopaths both of the wars produced...not to mention good old plane people who couldn't find peace after coming back home. Tragic
I think what is implied about Jimmy is that he was empathetic but during the war became desensitised to killing and death. He then uses this to his advantage to get ahead in the cold-blooded criminal world.
Because the card game was taking place in this other mobsters territory, and he wasn't getting a cut of the money it produced. That's why his goons went after Jimmy. I guess perhaps they didn't realize he wasn't one of Rothstein's men.
I’ve always thought the same but it’s the implication of his actions in the war that interest me especially after the lil snippet of him going over the top in his minds eye as he died
Ahh man, how many times would you have to practice that move to get it down swiftly. He killed those two so seamlessly and smooth, no hesitation and total commitment to the kill. That was awesome.
