Having said that though Kyle, I dunno if I would debate him if I were you. I mean I KNOW you'd beat him, but seriously... I think there's something medically, neurologically WRONG with that guy. I'm not ragging on his political stances (although that would be REALLY easy to do). I mean him PERSONALLY. I don't know if he's got some kind of learning disability, or if he's had a stroke, or some kind of brain injury, but Kyle... that's the kind of fight where you win the battle, but it costs you the war. Kick Shapiro in the teeth, or Jordan Peterson, Candice Owens, Ann Coulter, David Frum - ANYBODY else you had on that list, but listen to the guy talk for 5 minutes and he genuinely sounds like he's mentally handicapped and that's how it's gonna play out. I'm not saying that to be mean or disparaging to people who have these issues. I'm saying that as somebody who has relatives who sound just like him (same speech patterns, same type of cadence, same slurred speech) and have been medically diagnosed as falling in one or more of those categories. Nobody's even gonna question on the right how THEY all thought he was brilliant beforehand. They'll use the way you dismantle his arguments to make you look like you're just bullying somebody who can't mentally defend themselves. It's a Phyrric victory at best.

Nothing is accomplished by it. Pakman has had something like a debate with him and it's pretty clear nothing is going to persuade people who watch him if they are already dumb enough to buy what he's saying. For people on the left it just looks ridiculous too because Jesse brings nothing intellectually. Any long form discussion with Jesse only serves his purposes by seemingly crediting him among his viewers with being able to take on intellectuals because he uses argumentative tactics like ad hominems and straw men. Nothing positive comes out of engaging this guy other than putting on a circus for views that's somewhat sad and hilarious at the same time.
Oh and calling it if Jesse does interview Kyle he'll do the same stupid thing he did with Pakman where he demands a yes or no answer to a question over and over when Kyle has already clearly answered it over and over. He asked Pakman if women should be believed about rape allegations about 20 times when Pakman clearly said "They should be believed enough for it to be investigated, but no I don't believe men should automatically be put in jail on a woman's word". Pretty clearly a misleading and dishonest thing if you were to condense that answer down to just a yes or a no.
Agreed. Whgat an utter waste of time such a thing would be. This guy is so far gone that it is literally impossible to discuss anything meaningful with him. Hell, even discussing corn flakes vs Rice Krispies would be a challenge. This is just pure low level entertainment. There are plenty of right or right leaning intellectuals who actually are capable of having a discussion, and can present their case honestly and eloquently. Kyle - - Some advice (and I can’t believe I’m saying this): Do your research on this guy’s interview style. And not because if you don’t he’ll make you look like a fool (that’s obviously not gonna happen). But because he interviews progressives in a way that is haphazard and erratic which makes for terrible viewing, frankly. Your goal should be to reach his audience with as much logic and reason as possible. And to expose him to his audience as the dim-witted fool he is. This requires scratching beneath the surface of the issues he brings up. This dude lives on the surface. You gotta dig deeper and force him to respond with more than simply, “amazin’.” That’s his go-to when he’s incapable of constructing an intellectual response. Again, this isn’t so much about him as it is his audience. He’s too far gone, but if there’s even a handful of his fans that can be awoken the slightest bit, an effort must be made.

I agree pretry much. David Packman going on the show was painful to watch. Like you said not because Jesse made him look like a fool, but he didn't under stand basic debate decorum or structure like burden of proof. You're not wrong about his troll-ish interview style of playing the fool to get the opponent to lose their cool, but that's why I have to disagree with how to handle him. To be successful at changing his viewer's minds, you have to understand why his audience watches Jesse in the first place -- which is why I say either ignore him or beat him at his own game and just troll better than him. I know that sounds immature, and I hate to say it, but that's more effective than logic and reason when changing the mind of certain Trumpers like Jesse's fans. You really get the sense of "These people are just in this for the memes and "lawlz", aren't they?" when you look through the comment sections of his videos. These aren't the kinda people you're going to reach with a civil, secular, and rational arguments. I wouldn't even be surprised if a lot of his fans aren't even that political, and just wanted to see some goofy moron make light of some people that are actually passionate about finding solutions to the world's problems by saying "amazin' ".. OGRE Interesting take. I actually don’t think there’s much of a disagreement in tactics between us. I too feel like trolling the troll is the right approach. And believe me, I know long-winded intellectual monologues by Kyle would put Jesse to sleep and send his fans on to another video. What I’m saying is that allowing Jesse to dictate the terms of the conversation by only superficially discussing topics doesn’t allow much opportunity for quality counter-trolling on Kyle’s part.
All Kyle needs to do is press back a little and not allow Jesse to change the topic when he feels cornered or outmatched. And I feel like Kyle is uniquely equipped to do this because he’s loud and he’s able to expose flawed logic and make his points succinctly and plainly. That type of concise, sound-bite logic has the greatest potential of reaching Jesse’s audience. Once Jesse’s ignorance is exposed, the opportunity presents itself for Kyle to deliver a zinger. And then you just relentlessly repeat the tactic with every topic. If his fans want a bloodbath, give them a bloodbath. But there’s no reason it can’t be Jesse’s blood that is spilled.
I’m really just tired of his left-wing guests approaching Jesse’s show the way they do. Yeah, he’s an idiot. We get that. But that doesn’t mean you handle him with kid gloves and laugh and shrug off his obvious ignorance. His ignorance perpetuates hate. Weaponize his ignorance against him.

Why wouldn't Jesse Lee Peterson debate Kyle at politicon?
That's easy he wouldn't be able to edit the footage the try and make himself look better.
And he wouldn't be in control of the situation. He never debates... He just interviews people. There's a huge difference between debating and interviewing.
Jesse Lee Peterson is the king of fallacious reasoning. He specializes in the nonsequitor and the adhominem because he couldn't reason his way out of a wet paper bag. He's not worth debating.
I know exactly how he'll start talking to you.

Eventually Jesse will fall asleep in the middle of the interview and his handlers- I mean producers will tuck him in for the night with the same white sheets that they wear.

That would be the "beta" thing to do and Peterson wouldn't do it. If the format isn't Jesse's own format he will most certainly get destroyed by whoever he debates. Even when it's his own format he gets destroyed, but his base thinks he won every time. They're dimmer than he is.

To be honest i'm glad you didn't debate him. I think your debate with Scottie Nell Hughes was one of the more intelligent and well reasoned debates, on both sides actually, at the whole 'con.

I think that if you made an effort to go on other programs and attempted at other forums, not only could you grow your audience, but spread our message that desperately needs to fall on more ears! Keep in mind, the goal is not to convince Jessie. His mind is already made up. The actual goal is to convince the audience and to expose Jessie's bad positions.
It's very effective with theist vs atheist debate audiences and I think it would work in political debates as well.

Like letting Republicans lie continuously about cutting medicaid expansion and so forth, they need to be confronted.
If they are unopposed, folks will continue voting for them, not knowing they are losing everything under them.
