The strength of character it takes to openly admit "I was born and bred a racist" can only be admired after hearing him say that it took a full conversion for him to lose that way of thinking. Without this second admission you are only left with the first.

We expect no praise, adulation or tribute for simply doing what's right. I wish that the modern right wing "evangelicals" could understand this concept. As did Joe, I too was raised in a southern Baptist home and church, taught the same stuff. Difference was that when I got older, I decided to delve deeper into the origins of the religion and the bible. Most don't do that, but many have and found out it is all just mythology. What some churches teach is cherry--picked verses that make the religion sound all cuddly and sweet, but the truth is that it is and has always been brutal and destructive and is based on the mythologies of an ancient middle eastern culture that was brutal, ignorant and superstitious.
Thank you Joe for Phillip Yancey, after some in depth research I am reading his books. Where in the four Gospels does Jesus say "the end justifies the means"?
The biggest mistake this country has made is passing the 17th Amendment. Before the 17th Amendment the senators had to go back the state legislature in their state and explain why they did what they did Now all they need to do is to convince the voters that all that free stuff they want to give away will be paid for. Since most voters will be eligible for that free stuff that is not hard to do
Life is a little more complicated than that. Look at the concept of education, for example. It is used for the future to give the young skills to later learn professions that our society needs. Sometime adults go back to school to learn new skills to provide better things for thier families., etc.

Nothing is better to follow than Love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus said that.
If only everyone did that.
The bible also says "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. "

The world is anything not in the kingdom of God.

Oh God Phil! You can do better…. You can dislike Trump, that is ok… but to agree with this pseudo Rev and this two more offensive and nasty people on tv… I still believe that you are more than a nice prose.

Very apropos : why is a religious "reverend" Al Sharpton a political commentator ? They are discussing the damage of mixing religion and politics, and they ask a religious reverend for comment?!
How about Brandon calling half the country fascists????
@Christian153: Maybe because it's true? Duh.
He didn't, as you well know.
We Atheists, Antinatalist Animal Rights Vegans (AARV), Reductionists, Alien believers, Greens, and other minority political parties (labor unionists, Anarchists, state Separatists, Communists, Socialists) have NO obligation to care about religionists, evangelicals, theists, or nationalists, monarchists, oligarchs or even to talk about them. We AARVs talk about OUR issues: fighting hypocrisy of governments allowing people to breed then DOING NOTHING FOR THEM.
Well Trump is clearly a fascist and lots of people voted for him. So it's a valid question.
Because they are!
Good Americans that love this country, and love their children, can no longer vote democrat.
why would you even say something that stupid? Are you TRYING to sound like a 12 year old brat? People simply disagree with you. Deal with it.
Martin you're not American. 🙄

How come? Do you think we want to live under autocratic rule losing all personal freedom and privacy?
🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you're deranged fasho. 🤦🏾♀️🙄
Get your feelings hurt? I think closing churches for two+ years is a bit more important than Trump's language. Maybe the message is your problem.
Brandon just said hes basically a puerto rican and he asked Jill to make him some breakfast tacos
