Teardown GM L92 6.2L Escalade Denali Blown Engine, Worst One Yet!

- Teardown video #4 is in the books, whatever that means.
In this video I teardown a core GM 6.2L L92 V8 Engine from a 2007 or 2008 Cadillac Escalade or GMC Yukon Denali. This is a VERY common core engine through our shop and you get to see just what I do when I take these engines apart.
I own and run a full service auto salvage facility called Importapart, and we trend towards the niche markets. Engine parts are a big part of our business. Right now, the easiest method to buy parts from us from these engines is on eBay at this link. www.ebay.com/sch/importapart/...
You can also email us at Importapartsales@Gmail.com, or call us during
regular business hours at 314-502-3104

Hope you enjoyed and thanks for watching! Авто/Мото
No music, no BS, no overdone narration... just a guy, running his business, giving us gearheads a good look at motor teardowns. Keep it up man!
Whenever I hear music and BS, I go to another page.
The music here that of power tools and the clickety-clack of wrenches. Nice!
I could not agree more!
He didnt beg for a like and a subscribe which is honestly pathetic in my opinion.
I'm not even a gearhead, but I feel like one for about an hour after watching one of these.
I'd love having a job disassembling engines
Absolutely!
The dream :(
It is! I did it for a few months as an intern at an arrive and drive nascar experience company years ago. Moved onward and upward but im glad to have had the opportunity.
I would find it very tedious (boring) if I was just pulling them down since I'm an electrical fitter/mechanic who has rebuilt them.
I've never had to fully rebuild a GEN3-GEN5 Chevrolet V8 engine, all my LS1 has had done to it is I replaced the hydraulic lifters which got mushroomed in the engine block as I needed to use a set of multigrips to pull number 6 exhaust hydraulic lifter out of the engine block.
I replaced the timing chain with an upgraded Rollmaster timing chain & sprocket kit to an LS2 type because they have thicker links than the LS1 timing chain ,it was a bit loose & I had to pull the timing cover off to replace the leaky gasket.
I've resealed the engine but all of the pistons, rings, bearings & even the valves haven't been touched, the valves didn't leak when I tested them with acetone for leakage,it had done 337,512 kilometres (209,720 miles) back then in 2018.
It's coming up to having done 363,000 kilometres (225,558 miles) now & the repairs were done over 2 years ago, the engine hasn't missed a beat in that time !
@@RussellBooth1977 no one cares about your life story. This guy could build a better engine blindfolded
I really enjoy these engine teardowns, and thank you for no crappy music.
I have subscribed simply because good tear down videos, with no music and BS, and someone sharing their experience is awesome to me.
Very enjoyable videos, no crap music and over the top antics. Love the engine analysis and teardowns, a dream job pulling down engines!
This is absolutely superb content!! Please keep it up! Subscribed! No annoying music and I bet it will help out a lot of the new guys getting into mechanics realize how much and what can go wrong.
Information videos. Thanks for straight to the issues and not dragging it out. Time is money, but I'd bet you already know that. Be safe everyone.
New subscriber. Love the no-BS approach. For many of us, it’s a glimpse into something very interesting but not available to us otherwise (if my buddy were tearing down his Hemi in his garage he’d never get me to go home!). The variety of configurations and designs, your narration as you go, your observations and experiences-good stuff.
Always enjoy watching you do a tear down. You do it very professionaly and also explain what you are doing and why there is or is not value in the engine / parts. I would say your tear down videos are really the standard other you tube mechanic videos should be emulating. Please keep them coming.
If they only could go back together as quickly as they come apart!!!
Thank You for letting us tag along on your treasure hunt!!!
I’m 22 this is something I would love to do. I love watching you break them down good stuff dude.
I find your videos so very interesting, no idea why. I'm not a mechanic, not a salvage guy, not really even a car guy... but sure enjoy watching your videos! Thanks for making them!
piston, piston, piston, wrist pin. lol. and another dropped seat.
I know you look to turn profit on the parts with these cores, but my enjoyment is seeing just how bad an engine can be.
can't wait for the next disaster.
you've come so far from this to the current videos in just a short amount of time, only a little over 2 months. keep them coming
My daughter in law likes working on cars so I told her about your videos. You have a lot of educational stuff. Thank you for sharing it.
Love that Callahan auto t-shirt. Lol. One of the best movies ever.
I really like your tear-downs, very informative. Thanks!
Thanks for the post mortem. I could watch these all day.
These videos are a balm to my soul. I work IT and love it, but I also love getting my hands dirty...this helps scratch that itch while I rebuild a server. Keep posting!
It's fun watching you do this work on an engine. Because I'd never want to do this work ever! You've done this like a thousand times! I can tell!
Breaking them down is easy. It's the reassembly that's tedious. It's not hard if you take your time and pay close attention to details.
I had to sub. I love the commentary and lack of filler. Thanks for putting out great content.
Good stuff man! I’d like to imagine a lot of these issue stem from lack of maintenance especially with Truck/SUV variants. How many people I’ve met that didn’t realize oil needed to be changed as often as it does is scary lol
I've learned a lot about how engines work watching these videos
Honest man.......honest video.....honest work. Great video.
Was totally wondering if you happen to have a 6.2 around so we all could watch. It's so cool seeing someone that's in the car community that I grew up with that's on youtube now!
I had an old Pontiac Transport that had a spark plug that the crook broke off of. I warped the exhaust valve. Nothing else damaged. We fixed it and were back up and running. Great video's.
I love these tear down vids! Nice work
Just found your channel very interesting and informative like precision transmissions channel, hope you enjoy doing the videos as much as we do watching, it will take a while to get to a decent number of subscribers and views but you have the content and a good manner, perfect.
My old boss and I were dreaming one day about having our own salvage yard and do exactly what you are doing. I would be great!
Love the channel. If you think you are overwhelmed by the amount of engines you got, wait til you see how many subs are coming your way (and corresponding tsunami of stupid comments) 👍
2017 LS3 engine owner here I love these engines
I'm slowly moving threw, liking all of your vidios as I go, I love The Mystery box nature Of Theas VIdoos!
Great Video..... Every Engine is a Roll of the Dice.
Please do the AMG one. These videos are great. No BS, straight to doing. That block needs just sleeves and it's good for 1000+ HP.
Is there enough material there for a sleeve? They look kind of thin, unlike old iron.
@@Vekurus they sleeve those things every day!
@@1982MCI Just guessing here but I would assume that crack follows into the water jacket as well. The cylinder is visibly out of round. With the water jacket cracked I would think it would be a major headache.
Really enjoying these engine autopsies.
yea thats a nice way to put it lmao
I'd say I'm old-school small block chevy guy, but after seeing how these engines are assembled I actually might consider building an LS engine.
God, I wish you were in Florida. I love doing engine tear downs. Did L67 tear downs and rebuilds for 6 years.
Absolutely LOVE these videos and thanks so much for sharing about your business. I'd like to see a part go thru the entire process, say a cylinder head from tear down to ship out to a new owner. Just curious as to what goes into it. Thanks again!
Love these videos - learn so much and love your sense of humor you make destruction and decomposition fun!! There’s a biz expansion Angle - aircraft engines….. jugs are separate from the block - lots more combinations of post tear down components “I do cars / he does planes”
These are awesome, I would love it if you continue you this series!
I think we all would Camden
Excited to see the weird stuff/ euros and off beat engines. Loved the viper teardown
Great video, really informative, didn't know there was so many common problems
I love watching these teardown videos. It's grease monkey therapy for me. Thanks for the kick ass videos!👍👍
Absolutely love the Callahan Auto Parts T-Shirt. RIP Chris Farley. Great video.
“This is a 6.2, and in my experience, they like to break pistons. I’ve seen a ton. Like...a TON.”
*Me, looking at my ‘07 Denali with 230k miles*
👁👄👁
I'll pray for you bro. Lol. 🙈
😂😂
Me in the comments with an 08 yukon XL Denali...wishing I had an extended warranty!
I’d say you’ve done pretty good so far 👍
Broooo… my h2 has this exact engine. Supercharged. Coming up on 100k miles. Makes weird ls noises. Pray for me😂😂😂
Great channel, I really enjoy watching.
I love your teardown videos!!
Just subbed. I've been lurking for a few videos. You're showing up in recommended feeds, so you should be getting more subs.
A week ago, there were about 2k subs. Now you're at 5k, growing fast. Keep up the great work!
I’m one in the past week. This is now one of my favorite channels for some reason lol.
just subbed.
Now at 7.8k subs
@@itsdokko2990 just subbed at 15.9k, going up fast!
almost 22,000 now
43.1k now
it was cool to learn a bit from you and the L92 engine! espicially that we use it in swaps in saudi arabia
I appreciate your editing skills. I am a new fan.
Glad to know that you're not going to lose money on that pile. I just discovered your channel thanks to my brother and have been enjoying your engine tear downs.
If you need helping moving parts you may want to call Ray Zalinsky the Auto Parts King. He sells car parts for the American working man. Because that's who he is, and that's who he cares about.
I get all of my parts from Ray Zalinsky the Auto Parts King
@@wildbill8526 And you're well served. Because he makes parts for the American working man. Because that's who he is, and that's who he cares about.
New subscriber! Thanks for no music, fastfwds and keeping it simple, great videos!
Interesting video series. Love the dry humor.
Great channel! Love the content. Keep up the good work!
idk anything about engines but this was really fascinating
Thanks for the failure analysis.
Bro idk why but your videos are all awsome 👍🏾 Keep it going
First time watching. Fascinating to see. Like discovering potential buried treasure. Sometimes it's good stuff and sometimes it's not. Appreciate you naming the parts as you remove them, I can name some things, not all. Well done.
Thank you! That was great to watch.
Very well done, thanks!
I work at Northlake auto recyclers in Hammond Indiana. Nice video. Nice work. I’m about to check out your yard
Not sure how I stumbled across this channel, but I've subscribed. I like the content.
You’re like the “Dr. G” of auto engines! Can’t wait for the next result of a driver that sees what happens at 9,000RPM. Love your work - subscribing!
Nice shirt. Gave one of those to my brother for Christmas a few years ago.
As a non-mechanic, but lover of all things mechanical, I appreciate the time you take and am fascinated by the beating some of these engines take . . . By the way, I thought Adam Sandler was doing engine tear downs the first time I watched one of your videos.
Different accents mate 😎
It seems our boy here has figured out the channel view and growing subscriber formula. Mazda MX6 dash removal video...700 views. Detailed engine tear-down video...70,000 views. Keep up the great work!
I will still be adding videos that are not total tear downs, but with my supply of product I can shoot a video a week pretty easily! Thank you!
New subber here, and am loving the videos so far. I will admit I laughed out loud when you popped the front cover and impact onto the floor. I was expecting some carnage, not that. Keep up the good work.
Love your videos. Chrysler has an awful lot of problems with valve seats. I just fixed my wifes jeep where that happened. But at 7:45 of this video you showed the missing valve seat and called out chrysler. Just a Freudian slip. Understand GM does it just as well.
I got confused too.
@@riccocool Yes, that comment caught me by surprise too. Doing a double take on those heads though, I knew that could not be a hemi.
I know it’s an older video and you don’t do this but HOW DARE YOU SKIP TAKING OFF ALL THE OUTSIDE STUFF!!!!
Love the videos!
A tap tap tap-a-roo. Nice job Happy!
I hate when a seller caps everything, but leaves the exhaust open. I opened an engine that was so rusty because of that oversite. Mice made it a home so the rust and smell made for a fun tear apart.
Now realizing I bought stuff from you on ebay.
I just some heads off you on ebay. 823 from ss camaro
Love the channel ..keep up the good work..
Love it - great content!
What’s even more amazing it the fact that someone went trough the trouble of removing the engine rather just junking the whole vehicle! Yes that’s right “ professional grade” USA! USA!
I'm hooked. You DO resemble Adam Sandler! I think a key to the success of these videos is both your clear voice quality, as well as your overall speaking skills. Quite pleasant to hear!
Nicely done, sir.
Great video. Fascinating stuff here. More commentary on how you evaluate parts to be good and suitable for resale vs ones that are scrap would be interesting. Subbed!
You should film us a video explaining your thoughts on the various motors you deal with, like their common failures or maybe a particular block that you see a lot of/not a lot of. What you recommend or don’t!
I like your content.Keep it up!
I used to have a former NC State Trooper 1995 9C1 Caprice with the 5.7L LT1. For the longest time I planned around and dreamed about an L92 and 6L80 or 6L90 swap. Never happened. Not enough funds, not enough time.
Now that car's been gone 7+ years. The dream now is a Cybertruck LOL.
Dang can't wait to see the L86 teardown!
Great teardown!
high5 great video! this is the first one ive watched but i look forward to more!
Thanks! There’s several others
Cool back ground , hope you grow and prosper
Love this channel
If you have a stubborn ls main cap that wont come out, they make a flat bill vise grip that can fit in a slide hammer.
Great video as usual. They teardown goes fast. It's trying to get the engine out that's time consuming
Great I enjoyed and subscribed 👍🏻
I wish I lived out by St. Louis, I love tearing down engines.
I'm enjoying these videos. Its shocking how modern engines all seem to have a major weakness. Of course poor maintenance would contribute to catastrophic failures however our host often mentions, 'this is common on these engines,' when pointing out a destroyed piston or bearing, so it can't always be ignorant owners. My only suggestion would be to put a theory forward why a particular engine has blown up.
"No matter what you do, these engines always break exhaust manifold bolts..." That is GM engineering and quality for you.
The LS is one of the most reliable and best performing engines you could possibly buy. They’re affordable since so many were/are made, and you can make BIG power with only a few bolt ons. Every manufacturer has faults in some way, shape or form. But I generally agree, I’m not buying a new GM product under any circumstances.
Dude, ive been watching your vids for a few months now and just found out you are located by me and my buddy Tom works there. Sweet
I live in STL. I’ll look you all up an definitely use you if necessary. Cool videos.
That blocks a perfect candidate for a set of darton MID sleeves :p
Love this channel. One issue is would love to know the mileage of these horrible motors gm or otherwise so people knew what brand to buy or stay away from. Good stuff , keep it up.
I had an 07 Denali 190k low oil pressure body was great engine had balls but I didn't want to see how much more I could get out of it sold it for $ 8000,00
I really miss that ride it was good to me for the most part 190k ain't bad
Thank you so much!
Excellent guys
