The technology behind this hasn't changed in close to 50 years and you can buy both components off ebay. If your filling broke and there's no pain associated with it then you can clean it out, and fill it your self. I would suggest cleaning the area and then filling it with a temporary filling like Cavit grey for a non chewing surface or pink for a chewing surface as the pink is the highest strength Cavit and let it go for at least a week to see if any pain starts. If you temp fill it and then you start getting a lot of pain DO NOT use a permanent cement!! You might have an infection or an abscessed tooth that you need professionally fixed. If there's no pain or discomfort with the temp filling then remove the temp and clean it good and fill it. I did this years ago and the filling is still 100% with no problems. My dentist was shocked I did this and kinda gave me a bit of a scolding that only professionals (LICENSED professionals) should do this and actually threaten to drop me as a patient! After he was done I went out to pay for my visit and told the desk I will no longer be coming here for treatment so no further scheduling will be necessary. My new dentist is cool and has no problems with it.

Base = thick, not sticky, "Pie -dough"
Luting= sticky, 1" stings, more liquid state.

The excess cement is a big problem. Any cement that oozes out and hardens needs to be removed or you will get loads of inflammation/infection [pain].

@ Summer..I just ordered the crowns and the cement off ebay.I too cannot afford $1200.00 to go get my tooth fixed, so through the powers of youtube and ebay, I will be a DIY dentist.I had been using artificial fingernails and brush on gel nail acrylics to do my tooth and It's a shame that dentists have become so expensive that it has come to this ...Any dentist out there willing to help me? I can travel in the 48 states to get it done...thanks to free miles
