Howdy cousin. Otilda (Heisz) Meckle was my Great Grandmother.
Kinda weird you didn't show how to build the tracks ? I would think that part is integral.
I love the auto captions when you run that maple over the jointer:
[APPLAUSE]
[MUSIC]
And when you close it at the end, more applause.
Well done.
Beautiful door... But the tracks are a pretty important part of the project, and there's no discussion or demonstration of how they were made or even what they look like. Critical omission.
Just google search "Tambour track" lots of it out there.
Love this idea. I think I will attempt to make this when I finish off my kitchen. I really like the look of the spalted maple.
Another innovative build & great video, John. I appreciate you showing the adjustments you needed to make. It’s easy to assume your talents make it so you just throw things together & they fall into place perfectly for you.
Really appreciate you showing the "issues" encountered (and how to fix). Thanks!
Superb work! That spalted maple looks so classy! What artistry!
That looks incredible John. I will have to attempt that when I get around to remodeling our kitchen, which my wife has been asking me to do off and on for the last year or two lol.
I loved the idea and the finish. Great job John.
Love watching your work John.
Looks simple enough for a newbie to try and really beautiful.
Amazing work John, love the idea, you are brilliant, thank you 😀
Great video. As always. I love the project and love the editing and filming. The outro music is also awesome. I like that little feature. Thank you for making this.
Really nice. The thumbnail makes it look as big as a garage door
Beautifully done! Great video.
I've always wanted to make one of these doors. My daughters house came with one in the kitchen and it sat open 99% of the time, lol. Great work John.
Another amazing video ..I love watch u make stuff .it teaches me so much ..
Thx
Thumbs up
wow - I learned a LOT for such a short video. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks for the great video John. You are an amazing guy! 👍😊
Nice work John!
Thank you Jon :)
Nice work John. Looks fantastic.
Brilliant Job John, will definitely look out for this one on your makers mob
I never knew how all the slats were connected on these types of doors but it's so amazingly simple that I think I need to make one of these soon. Adds a real nice touch to the kitchen!
The 'tambour' in tambour door means 'drum' in French. This is a reference to the door rolling up in a drum, hence the name.
That is what I thought too.
I understand the linear track he did for the limited space to work with, but what would the door be called with a linear track instead of rolling up?
Love it John, turned out great! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Nice to see a well made roll top done for a change, well done sir
wow....... that looks so beautiful.
Love this, thanks for making the video!
That’s is awesome! Thanks for the info on how to
You never disappoint. Another excellent video.
Great job John. 👍🏼
John, That is one very nice and useful project! Looks great the way you put it together also! Thanks.

Well you learn a new thing each day many thanks 👍
What a brilliant idea thank you
Beautiful work.
Nice, looks really good.
Great job John
STUNNING! ❤️
Great build.
Great music.
It looks awesome 😍
There are loads of wood working projects on the web and YT that you can get wrapped up in, most are "yawn", but occasionally, just occasionally there are some that tickle the imagination, for me this is one such project. Nice work.
Nice job! Good materials sections! 👍🏻
Awesome as usual!
great project love it
I like the changes made to your channel. Also what a great project to hide those bulky appliances.
Nice work John.
Very nice John!
Another great video!
I was watching this with rapt attention then noticed you were wearing a Rush 2112 t-shirt while fitting the door into the cabinet. Awesome! Great job on the door, too...
Obrigado !
Faz tempo que estou procurando um vídeo assim !👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I normally don’t like tambour doors, but that is beautiful. I wish I could like the video more than once
thanks for sharing that , well said
Beautiful
I'm a qualified cabinet maker, not often I see a knowledgable carpenter on RUclips. Great job,
Very nice John
Very impressive!
Thats freaking lit fam!
Great one!
Great video as usual.
I like this very much. I don't think I could resist cutting the tile to add a border or a contrasting interior.
Dang John! That's awesome! I never knew they used fabric on the back of those.
That is my next project!!
Nice project :D
Very nice mate.
Beautiful! We've got a commercially made one in our kitchen and I think the only time I've ever closed it was out of curiosity when we first moved in 😁 But if it looked as pretty as yours, maybe it would be used more!
Nice...and I like your countertop.
I really like the look of that.
They made these in a cabinet shop I worked in many years ago. We didn't make these in my section but as I recall, they glued the cloth to a properly dimensioned board and used a V bit in a router to cut the strips. The cloth was thick (canvas I think) just in case they went too deep but they left just a 100th of an inch of wood and broke it apart when done. It worked like a charm. The company bought brown plastic guides for the tracks. This was an assembly line. No time to make guides.
Hope it was as satisfying to complete as it was to watch!
nice build
Excellent!
I've made quite a few of those in days gone by. This reminds me of working in the shop with my dad. It also reminds me just how much I miss him.
I am sorry for your loss. I miss my Dad too.
he is probably looking over your shoulder
@@sosteve9113, That's a nice thought. I'll keep that one close.
Thank you!
Looks great!
Thanks!
Very nice!
lovley job
Great use of spalted maple!
Well done
Very 👍 Nice. Great content
Nice!💜
Good Job it was voice over John. I'm sure we would of heard a little frustration wile trying to fit it in the slots. LOL. I do love Spalted wood. It looks great
I don't know why but I really like the outro-theme music you used... Of course the video content is also excellent.
Great video as usual John👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice tour shirt, John!
Very nice 💚
This is nice cabnet and i like this and also your projects and I am 13 years old
AWESOME
Nice!
It is gorgeous John. Lpve the way the handle complements the spalted maple.
Thanks :)
@@JohnHeisz Is the Bandsaw build going to start soon. I plan to make one and can't wait to see what you do.
Awesome stuff! I do love me some spalted maple...
Thanks Mark :)
So many ways to make tambours but try inserting a dowel in the ends of the tambour instead of machining a shoulder. Works a treat !
Amazing! How did you make the tracks and where would you start rounding out that corner for a good pivot angle? Thanks :)
I hope if John ever moves whoever buys the house appreciates the craftsmanship in that kitchen...
No plans to move anytime soon :)
They'll paint everything white.
The best part... seeing a Rush 2112 T-shirt... :-)
I like it very much, a successful tambour door
The pattern on the door is exquisite! Does the door ever slide back down? I'm thinking a few small magnets placed strategically might help if so 🤔
Thanks now i know How to make one myself
Beautiful door John. Any sort of magnetic catch or anything holding the door in the open position or does gravity hold it to the bottom of the horizontal tack in the top of the cabinet?
Nice
