We owe a great debt of gratitude to the girl that told Henrik "bass was the sexiest instrument" when he was playing piano when young and led him to change up instruments! true story!

It's always nice to see someone as enthusiastic about this band as I am. Makes me feel a little bit less mad, hahaha. Thanks for another brilliant reaction.
There is a proper horn section as well (check the credits), just doubled by the keys. When they play live it's usually just keyboard though. :)

Thank you Steve! thank you for introducing me to this amazing band. I have them on a loop (pun intended) since I heard your first reaction. Btw, read the credits of the songs. They're full of jokes. Grear to see how much fun they have

Wonderful reaction as always. I can't listen to Loops without smiling and it's just so nice to watch a reaction where somebody (you) are grooving to things to the music like I am. This song is a banger! I really look forward to your Loops reactions 'cause it's like a knowledgeable friend is coming over to listen to a tune with me. Thanks!

Such an underrated song. And by that I mean, nobody really requests reactors to do it like they do DL's other more popular tunes...Next To You, Follow The Light, etc. This song holds its own man. I always request it but it seldom gets covered. Thanks for doing it Steve. Enjoyed your reaction.

Such a fun bad with insane chops!
Something interesting I heard in a Jonah Nilsson interview on another YT reactor channel (I think it was Stratele Studios) was when they write songs they usually write a more basic stripped down song first and then they 'loopify' it to give it that distinctive Dirty Loops sound. Some how it still feels organic to me... However they do it, I like it!

@@SteveOGRock Being a drummer you may enjoy a video on the Drum Channel from a few days ago where Thomas Lang and Jimmy Keegan react to 1980's Terry Bozzio videos with the man himself, Terry Bozzio! A lot of fun! Maybe too long to react to, but worth a watch IMO....

I told my musician friends I was playing Snarky Puppy and Dirty Loops to my middle school general music classes, and they freaked out with approval.... I know I'm old and biased, but SP and DM's music is sooooo much better than anything out there that's 'new'..... I will watch the Grammy Awards, but I'm preparing myself to have a disgusted look on my face when I hear the award nominees.... Hey Steve - have you seen 'Leonid and Friends'? Please check them out. kind of mind-blowing.

Nice one ! One fun detail about the video: Henrik Linder the bass player is endorsed by EBS and always has stacks upon stacks of their equipment in their videos. He's been getting some digs about that in the comments about how he has ALL the bass amps etc so he turned it around and just has ONE amp, one of their smaller amps but instead has a metric tonne of microphones, even his linebox is miced ! :-D

    For next reaction
    a. Breakdown - original and something different from them. Absolutely beautiful
    b. Ta Fête (Stromae cover) - Work Shit Out style, but still a super cool cover
    c. Over the Horizon 2016: Samsung Galaxy Brand Sound by Dirty Loops - Grammy worthy cover from phone

You’ve pretty much covered PHOENIX, except for BREAKDOWN, and I think the “SONGS FOR LOVERS” EP, and though there’s the entirety of LOOPIFIED, I very highly recommend UTFF in which the incomparable Henrik teams up with Jack Gardiner and Owane for an absolute shredathon! Love your reviews as always, was not in agreement on Work Shit Out, but I’m a keyboard guy and feel it’s one of their best. Oh…… and one more must listen to, Jonah with Joseph Collier at the Montreal Jazz Festival covering Stevie Wonder’s DO I DO. And man, they absolutely DO Stevie proud. Damn, I know I’ve over stayed my welcome here BUT a final request, the Loop’s interpretation of Samsung’s OVER THE HORIZON. Now I’ll crawl back into my hole.

  • @barefootalien

These guys, from what I understand, went to college together. They've been friends and bandmates for well over a decade, and it shows. There's no sense of ego, no sense of competing to show off the most, hence the willingness to simplify, sit back, and let a friend shine.
I heard it said once, though don't have any direct sources, that one thing they used to do to really get locked in together is they'd do marathon sessions of just playing a groove and passing around improv within it, to see how long they could groove for. The result is just impeccably tight chemistry, maybe, _maybe_ even tighter than Eugene, Vlad, and Roman from Jinjer. Maybe. xD
