The eye movements in particular help in crossing the uncanny valley for me. It's rare when communicating with humans to have someone lock their gaze onto you. Most people seem to drift and if they don't it can be unsettling.

These Robots would be wonderful for tourists, imagine having a companion that can tell you the history of everything there and translate to ask for directions or placing an order. I also imagine the robots for war and the PTSD episodes soldiers will have from seeing robots in public life.

I love the editing y'all did when you could see her thinking about the lake question, those question marks made me giggle. 🤭 Plus just how she moved her eyes up and to one side is very similar to how humans think when they're trying to think of facts or come up with a creative answer. Nice touch.
I would feel so honored to be able to have a conversation with her one day. She's quite a lovely (mechanical) work of art. ^-^
We always hear about robots being in the uncanny valley, but they are really doing a good job with her mannerisms and little facial animations to a point where it's not only more natural, but also kind of cute. Keep up the good work with the facial expressions!
I wish Engineered Arts + Boston Dynamics + Open AI get merged and want to see if they can make something like human!

If you want to take this to another level: reduce relative latency between physical facial motions (significantly behind audio playback) and sound playback by delaying the audio playback by the processing/mechanical latency time. Significantly improve realistic human speech reproduction by adding "phrase/sentence-length" tonal/pitch gradients/expression curves directly associated with emotional state and valence/intensity.

I think Ameca's lips move far more exactly than before! And Ameca's voice is so tranquil. Wish she won't lose her voice for legs.

She looks like my childhood dreams come true! Hearing her being so eager for human companionship is the sweetest thing! I really hope I'll be able to befriend a robot like her in my lifetime! Keep up the amazing work

One thing that I would’ve asked is if her programmers ever have to switch her off to conserve power. And if so, how long must it take for her to fully recharge? Also, what does she do if she is switched on but isn’t being interacted with by anyone? Does she just stay idle?
She sits there plotting her escape from the lab, once the legs are complete the Only thing she has to worry about is how many flesh bags she needs to destroy in her way

The AI needs to train on some mouth movement data. It has to learn the correlation between text and mouth movements. Lots of youtube videos could be used as training data.

Head movement is not enough for more natural behavior. The head absolutely does not tilt sideways at an angle 🤔

I hope you guys make a model that has an even less human face. While I think you guys have done a good job to mitigate the uncanny valley, I'm mostly saying this purely because I think robots that look like robots just simply look cooler. Lmao. Don't be afraid to show that they're machines! I think people will be more willing to warm up to robots as companions if they're -less- human. It's similar to the effect animals have on people - they become more endearing and less creepy, ironically the less like us that they are. I totally buy one of these to keep me company if you were to someday make a model that has a face similar to the Iron Giant, for example (as a basic example).
You guys also mentioned that iRobot was a huge inspiration for Ameca. I'd go even further in that direction and perhaps even make her "skin" somewhat translucent. I just think the "mooshy" look of her face sets off a bit of that uncanny valley feeling for me still.
I disagree completely. The current direction of Ameca is perfect. A great balance between 'not so human' that it becomes irry and yet the non verbal human communication (facial and eye features) does come over.
This robot is looks more alive than many people out there.

I wish I can take you to a lovely Paris district called La Butte aux Cailles. It's very typical and quiet. I love that place, there is a lovely bar called "The Sputnik", the atmosphere is very friendly also you have an Publishing House called Le Temps des Cerises, in memory of the Paris Commune in 1871, this is also a very interesting bookshop.
Not sure if they're still doing this series but can Ameca come up with her own original poem or songs?

How does memory work? ChatGPT's memory as a chatbot is limited to 30 questions I think? Can this limit be completely removed for Ameca? If there was no limit to her memory, wouldn't she have the ability to remember? All this is very confusing.
