I have watched Gateway to the Arctic 3 times already… I love it because I work / Guide on the East Arm of Great Slave Lake and have heard and read the stories of Artillery Lake and that region from the Natives in Lutselke and famous Historical accounts from Samuel Hearne, GH Blanchet Gus D’aoust and Helge Ingstad just to name a few! I actually JUST got back from up there and had another wonderful short guiding season at Frontier Lodge. Love your videos!
That was really cool to see and learn about. Thanks. That was really interesting
I admire you guys (Barbour, et al) for all of the planning and logistics that go into making, and documenting, your trips. Thank you for taking us along for the paddle!!!!
Excellent couldn't agree more. GET TO THE START LINE!!!
Lol Noah trying so hard not to laugh after sliding down the roof in the intro 😂
Good tips. What's the next adventure and when?
But the big question is where? Where is this year's start point? You can't leave this a teaser for ten months! But there again you probably won't be able to read this right now because you're out there doing it...
Things are a bit different this year. We'll explain in a later video
Being Flexible!! Great advice. Thanks for the tips
You are correct!food gear (beer!?)..weight ..its nuts but awesome!!
Would've been even harder if you didn't have Kyle's house to work from!
This is great content!! Would love to see more like this, planning and preparation vlogs
Hell to the ya! Thanks for making this stuff so inspiring and accessible. We’re doing our first multi day river trip in August, not sure if we’d be doing it if it wasn’t for your videos I started watching a few years back.
Great content as always! Thanks for sharing!
So right, so many thing that can make it fall appart, so easy wen all have there feet at the same place with all gear is on the begening of the river. I leave tomorow for a river and i feel better that a month ago
A lot to think about. Thanks for the insight
Jackpine Paddle Rocks! True Canadians doing their thing. Support these beautiful critters!❤
This channel should be huge! Seriously🤘⛺🤘
🙏🙏🙏
Most important thing is. Do we have enough flasks? Looking forward to your new adventure. Thanks for sharing.
Interesting for sure, thanks for the info.
I just noticed you sliding down the roof lol
Thank you for the info, Noah! 👍👍👍
Really love your videos and always looking forward to the next. Stay safe guys.
Not to mention the all the days spent at work to fund such an expedition. I liked the not so subliminal messing in there 😂
I have watched most of your series, but this one was incredible, even more so than crossing Labrador. The fishing was unbelievable. I have worked in the north, but never found time to relax and explore more than the small area around where I was working. I'm too old for this type of thing now, so I appreciate all of your, and your fellow Cunucks videos about Canada. I have lived all across this country, but now live in Ontario. It is almost as good as being there watching your vids, minus the hardships. Looking forward to your future endeavors.
"Keep up the good work there will be a little extra in your next paycheck", that's what my boss used to tell me. Thanks for sharing.
Even planning for a week trip not too far from home takes time , so I have no doubts about all the logistic involved in your trip way up north
Wow! Many bridges too far for this old girl! I love watching y’all adventuring❤️
Love the videos! Keep ‘em comin!!
👍👍👍👍
My wife and I really enjoy your vids. Great content and always an adventure! Keep'em coming!
💯
I totally agree with you.
Loved this. Wish there was more planning and organisational content online for these trips. Definitely something I'd love to watch!
Wow! A ton of planing to get organized then to have the airline just screw things. Bag on Noah, being flexible and able to adjust to whatever comes up is key. That was a very hard trip, no one was hurt!
Some day go over you food supply list. We did northern rivers in the 90ies when there was no equipment to rent in the north. We had inflatable canoes and kayaks. We dehydrated all our own food and used dried store goods. When complete we weighted all the food and gear then contact the charter airline to get the correct size plane. With the canoes, kayaks, gear and food we usually had 600 pounds for 4 people. To get north to places like Baffin Island, Norman Wells or Inuvik we used commercial airlines but in those days you were allowed two 70 pounds bags each for free. We normally had food left over. We planned for 15 days and were out for 10 to 12. We had a Sat phone.
I'm really glad you touched on this topic. Especially the #1 and #3 tips - a flexible mind set/ a good understanding of food and gear .. although I've never done a trip as extreme or remote as you guys I have found that being stubborn thinking that "I've got it all covered" and not bending from that has bitten me in the a$$ once I realize I didn't have it all covered. Great advice for all adventure seekers of any level. Thanks for sharing this.
The complexity of the plan for a trip of this magnitude 🤯!
Another great video - Thanks to all of you! Be Safe.
Second hardest part : drying everything out and putting it away at home afterwards 😅
That's the **worst** part
Weird I didn't get a notification for this yesterday, I normally do.
Love you guys. Thanks for taking us behind the scenes!
Most of my wilderness trips have been easy enough to get to the put in and none have required a float plane, so kudos for going to true wilderness and taking us with you! The hardest part.of my trips has just been getting a solid crew together that contributes to a smooth trip...and it.seems like you guys got that down too!
enjoyed the behind the scenes look at the trip! thanks for sharing
Concur, Noah! Been there, done that! It is always great in the end!
Last second logistics are STRESSFUL
And the second hardest thing is getting time off work to do the trip!
It's true, longer trips require sacrifice
Interesting. You doing a trip this summer?
Nice little viddy
My man!
Organizing and planning is one of my favorite parts. Helps build the anticipation. Thanks Noah!
thanks for the videos, as always
Would the second hardest part be when the trip is over and get everyone home and the gear cleaned up? I cannot imagine the amount of effort then goes into the editing and posting of the footage. Top team can achieve this top channel🎉
Yeah, that part sucks 😅
@@NorthernScavenger but we are grateful for you doing this.
This was great! Thanks
Please do a full video on how you planned this trip; budgets, organizing transportation, packing etc. Would love to try something like this but always seemed inaccessible unless you're rich or a NG film crew
Looking forward to the next series!
thanks guys
Great vid!
Never would have thought the beginning was the hardest part!
