Thanks for the pic of giant hog weed. I keep reading warnings but now I know what it looks like, and I know that what I have is still only safe queen Ann’s lace 😂
I cant believe you guys are still at 51k subs.. you guys deserve 500k subs easily. Love the content, my favorite channel along with lost lakes. Thank you for pushing out content and hope you get the recognition you deserve. Love from Toronto!
Fun video!! Beautiful scenery. I just did want to mention though, that sea kayaking comes with so many more danger factors than fresh water paddling does. Just please make sure that the next time you guys head out, you’ve done a bit of research on sea kayak safety methods and bring a paddle float in case of capsize. Even on a nice warm day you can die of hypothermia if you can’t get back in your boat. And maybe you did bring one! Just have to know how to use it and practice with it before it’s a life or death situation. Sorry for the doom and gloom, I really do appreciate your videos and hope to see more ocean paddling! Thanks for the content 🙏
Great trip once again and traveling with a beautiful girl sure beats that other bunch of Scavengers you usually travel with Happy Birthday Rachel. Keep doing what your doing Noah
Love all your videos. I just got to do the New Brunswick St. Croix for 7 days with my 15 yr old daughter and CKNS canoe director. We had such a great time and we even tried your bushwackers oats breakfast. I used your updated smaller portions, but I enjoyed it so much I’m bringing more next time!
Before transitioning into solo canoes I was a kayaker. Now I'm adding a sea kayak into my quiver of canoes. Great video and love all those islands, cheers!
Great video Noah. Please pass on our birthday wishes to Rachel. You should bring your kayaks down and take a trip over to the Cape Lighthouse. Some people camp on the Cape as well. Cheers
Good to see you in a sea kayak! I've been cruising around the NS coast the last few years and there's lots to explore. Cape Chignecto is always a great spot for a sea kayak. I also have a delta (15.5gt) and it's done the job. See you out there
Finally!!! You have discovered kayaking!! Come on down to the US an we will show ya around and get you all trained up. The Maine Island Trail Association has a website with tons of camping opportunities!! Great video, put the skirt on first then get in the boat!!
Advice I read recently concerning the great white shark increase in in our Nova Scotia waters is to stay clear of places where there are lots of seals because that is what the great whites hunt. You don't want to be in their hunting territory!
As a sea kayaker and a longtime fan of your channel I'm gonna say this is a great blend of one of my favorite activities and sea kayaking 😉 also Happy Birthday Rachel 🎉
Wow how beautiful! Ya did a good job with the b-day stuff. Dip netting is also used in Alaska along the river beds, but the nets they use are larger and used for fish. Same concept I guess. Thanks for the video...been a long time subscriber.
Wow nice to see a part of Canada that doesn’t get too much attention. Which might be a good thing but nevertheless beautiful and the geology pretty cool too
That was so much fun guys. I love geology and other lessons. The wild rose petals make a great infused honey. This video brought back some great memories of kayaking around Victoria many years ago. Good times. Thanks for sharing your birthday Rachel! Have a great year.
great video. I have spent a lot of time seakayaking in the area you were in. Blue Rocks and the islands around are fabulous for paddling...my wife and I used to do seakayak trips in Harri Tieken kayks that we owned, great boats for the area.
Noah, you are one of the finest ambassadors for Nova Scotia I've seen, and it makes me stoked to be a new resident of such an exciting place. I need to figure out how and where to get out on the ocean in my solo canoe asap. And catch some fish out there.
Gorgeous scenery - reminds of the Georgian Bay coastline but more rugged and the yellow tones are stunning. Happy Birthday to Rachyl - she has an amazing smile and just love her personality:). Booking your ORKA certification and documenting on film would be awesome for the all newbies 😊
Love the ocean and always appreciate the geology lessons! Spent a lot of time on Heckman's Island (very close to Blue Rocks) when I was a kid, we had a cottage there. Things have changed around that area since I was younger, but still a beautiful place. I think the birthday surprise made up the " I can't believe you didn't help me" on the last video when you two were out on your two year anniversary! Haha! I think all may have to be forgiven. lol Looking forward to seeing more sea kayaking adventures and diving as well. Thanks for sharing. :) :)
Seen most of your vids; I don't normally thank you but I should. This was even more amazing than usual in you took us lot along on you lovely lady's birthday trip. You sure worked hard to make it a special trip; Happy birthday Rachael !
I can't tell you how stoked I am to see you guys picking up kayaking. I have been watching your content for a few years and as a local ns resident I knew It was only a matter of time! However as a sea kayak guide and instructor, I would recommend you guys check out some courses at our local HRM kayak Outfitters to get more acquainted with your kayaks. I have no doubt that you are very comfortable in the water, but a new sport comes with some new learning! Happy paddling!!
Thanks for the great video(s), as I'm just discovering your channel. As a photographer, I've spent most of my life backpacking and sailing, but so far kayaking hasn't been on my list. Canoeing, yes. It took me 11 years to finish the Pacific Crest Trail, just finished the Ice Age Trail, and in college we did the Appalachian Trail over 4 years, but I really, really love Nova Scotia and I've often wondered what it would be like to live there. I'm just beginning to explore your wonderful videos and now I'm a subscriber. Thanks again, and best of luck to you and Rachyl. It might be nice if you had some spare time to put together an equipment list of your favorite items that you like to take with you on the trail, and perhaps also develop that list to sponsor a product(s) page on Amazon. It's a great way to get some extra income which would help, I'm assuming. I'm sure you have extensive knowledge on various items on your 'must have' list of things that you bring with you on the trail. Good luck!
Glad you switched to double blading. Lol Have never sea kayaked but have always been a kayaker over a canoe. This was so cool and interesting with your lessons about the rocks. A very cool birthday surprise also. Not sure how you kept the cake intact. Looking forward to more of these.😘
I “sea kayak” in my canoe! I use pontoons for added safety and enjoy the open comfort of paddling a canoe. I find sea kayaks too cramped and confining. Delightful video.
Lovely video, but some advice; your skirt goes on first. You step into it and pull it up to your waist Only once you're under way do you fix it to your boat. Also, your paddle is upside down.
I normally put the spray skirt on my self first then pull it onto the cockpit opening after sitting myself down. If you are trying to launch in surf you will never make it trying to wiggle in this way. Was very amusing to see this technique though.
Congrats to the both of you, as you give us this wholesome content. The Joy and Love you show towards each other is awe inspiring. The laughter and joking around was fun to watch. Happy to see you posting about our home province of Nova Scotia. It is certainly awesome to see the land from a different perspective, coming from the water side for sure. That was pretty awesome special effect with the onion. I can never get it to do that for me when I am peeling onions...lol Do you think you can teach me how to do that????? I was so of expecting a very special birthday surprise for Rachel. Something like the rock formations you were talking to us about. Something with a few more carats and clarity...🙂💍💎💍💎Now that would have been better then the cake.... lol. Looking forward to your scallop diving videos. Take care and stay safe and warm out there to the both of you. 🌠🌌🌈🏖🎂🎂🎂🧅🧅🧅❤❤
Thank you Noah for another great video. I've recently moved to Halifax and I'd really appreciate any tips you can offer on scallop diving. Better yet, would you ever considered taking someone along with you on a scallop trip? I tried to pick it up while living in Yarmouth, but was recommended against free diving in the area because of the Fundy tides.
Hey Noah! You are in my playground!! I'd be honored if we could meet up, maybe get on the water. I'm a canoe lover too 🙂 I'm going out 2-3 times a week. Let me know, chow for now 🙂
As a long time kayak guide I gotta warn you about how much danger people are in when in a sea kayak, on the ocean, without training. paddle float rescue practice , tandem rescue practice, bilge pumps practiced. The skirts have killed a lot of people. If you don’t want to train, at least don’t wear a skirt. Hypothermia is constantly a threat in the ocean, if you can’t get back into your boat , in the water you will get it. It’s a whole new world.
I agree 100 %. My first reaction was "that's not how you put a spray skirt on or get into a kayak. Totally unstable". Good grief.I love Northern Scavenger but take kayak lessons, please!
@@carolwilson9341 The most important part is how to take one off, upside down , in cold water. The best thing to do is go to a swimming area in a lake/pool, and practice over and over. @@greenman4508 Absolutely agree. I have kayaked most of the Canadian shore of Lake Superior. When I wanted to learn kayaking the first thing I did was take lessons from a trained certified kayak teacher.
I also was a bit uneasy about your trip, especially when u talked about seals being present.. they can land right on your kayak and make your boat unstable to tip u..also wind and waves can affect u..even carry u out to where u don't want to go.
yo i live in maine and im thinking about buying some land for an off grid cabin in nova scotia, these videos fuel the excitement of the whole idea a ton
Loved this. Always love when you share your geology knowledge. Saw a loon there near the end. How do they survive on the ocean? Aren’t they only freshwater birds? Great content.
I thought the same thing before I moved here. Turns out we have lots of loons on the ocean. Ducks too. Ospreys and bald eagles...exploring some of those little islands, I've seen deer tracks on the beach on a number of occasions. How'd they get there? I assume they swim?
Beautiful trip. Learn about the kayaks and enjoy your time on the water so those of us who are landlocked can travel along with you. Thanks for the adventure!
Thanks for the pic of giant hog weed. I keep reading warnings but now I know what it looks like, and I know that what I have is still only safe queen Ann’s lace 😂
Nice…something to unwind to later tonight. These are always the best before bed videos.
Happy birthday Rachel ...
This looks a lot like somewhere I plan on camping soon 👍
When she sees the cake "WTF"? Haha epic. Beautiful place, wow.
Happy birthday Rachel🎉
Next time: put the spray skirts on first. Then the pfd, then the kayak. Much easier and more watertight! Lovely trip!
Noah, as of last video, I had no idea you had a significant other. I'm sooooooo glad you found Rachel! She is a perfect mate 4U! So happy for you!❤❤❤
Yes...more like this please
I cant believe you guys are still at 51k subs.. you guys deserve 500k subs easily. Love the content, my favorite channel along with lost lakes. Thank you for pushing out content and hope you get the recognition you deserve. Love from Toronto!
This is very true!!
Agree, it's so good. I like the shorter vids like this but the big expeditions themselves are fantastic and deserving of a much bigger audience.
much love 🙏
Awesome trip, and happy birthday…
Beautiful charcuterie board at 3:00!
I'm just so impressed you took all that gear and still managed to bring a cake!
Glad to have this video. Thanks for sharing
Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊 🎂 🥳
What a great birthday surprise!
Great to see you try a different boat. Perhaps some coaching needed though. #upsidedownpaddle

Just found your channel, hello from the Pacific Northwest. Awesome video, beautiful shots! Kudos for kayaking with a cake 👍🏻

Great video and hats off for lovely birthday surprises for Rachel, Noah 😊💜
Great video! Loved the adventure and how you captured it and told the story. :)
Nice trip, thanks for posting.
I'm surprised you didn't stow away some ice cream to go with the cake! Wonderful content.
Enjoyable video & thanks for making it personal. Cheers from sunny Florida.
Happy Birthday Rachel! Great trip and I love the Geology Lessons!

Love my delta 15.5 .. definately will open up lots of new adventures for you . I really enjoy the geography lessons along the way ...
Super Cool Thanks!
God damn Noah you beauty. You two are so great together, happy birthday Rachel!
Looks like a fun little trip! Nova Scotia's coastline is stunning! I love how you brought balloons, and a full size birthday cake!

Love seeing you on a kayak adventure. Kayaking Blue Rocks is one of the best times I've had in NS. So many islands, and such clear water. HBD, Rachyl!
Reminds me of Georgian Bay.

Such a cool way to see your dad! Great to explore Nova Scotia through you and Rachel!
Very nice video. Love to see more kayak/camping videos.

What you could do with a Hobie Tandem Island in that area....
Have you ever kayaked Georgian Bay -Bruce Peninsula. Thats a trip Id like to see...or do.
It’s good to see you, Noah and Rachyl. Thanks for sharing your sea kayaking adventure. The geology of the islands was very interesting👏👏👏👏👏
