IN REVIEW: Although their switch to Nightlight was rather Bland, WNBC waited until the end of Nightlight Service to give their Goodbye, which was the best of the NYC shutdowns. WCBS Went with the Traditional approach of an Announcement and playing the National Anthem WABC Showed the Actual switch from their Control Room, WNYW, WNET (NOT SHOWN) and WWOR went off with no fanfare. although WNET did show a short PSA announcement right before the shutoff, and we do have footage of the turning off of the WNYW and WWOR transmitters.
Liitle fun fact: over in time square the minute analog TV was about to be signed off for ever Toshiba being the owner of the time square billboards and countdown sponsor a countdown with the time square ball started, once the countdown hit 0 the Toshiba billboard said "WELCOME TO THE DIGITAL ERA" in Spanish. Kinda cool
0:02 Only Full power ones on June 12th 2009 Class A low-power stations were then required to transition to digital by 1 September 2015 and then 13 July 2021 the low-power tv stations had to shut down (Wikipedia) .
Actually, both parts of the WCBS digital sign-off were separated by 3 hours... The 2nd SSB was shown after 3pm (EDT) on 6/12/2009. The "90 seconds" were on the YT video on which segment was taken originally from. AFAIK, WCBS' sendoff was done at about the same time as WNBC switched to nightline service at about 1230pm (EDT) on 6/12. Broadcast stations around NYC had the option of ending analog at either 12-1pm or 1145-12mn (Fox's WNYW-5 and WWOR-9 used the latter, as shown in another 2 YT videos where the same engineer shuts down 5 and runs down the corridor to shut down 9). WNBC's was shown when they ended their nightlight service on 6/26/2009...
ATV Katsumotoland Analog Shutdown(2012) Countdown followed by various footages from the channel(cartoons, interviews, etc) Plus some older ATV idents Thanks For Watching! This screen lasts for 5 minutes before going static Inspired by BTQ-7 Brisbane
Too bad this clip did not come in time for WCBS-TV to use for their analog sign-off. That reproduction of their old black-and-white test pattern was not authentic enough. ruclips.net/video/v53C7GnN5hk/видео.html
