Might be a funny question but did anyone buy a real estate calculator or does everyone just use a basic calculator? I’m taking my exam in a few weeks and don’t have a calculator yet. I know you can’t bring a scientific calculator into the exam but I see Real Estate specific calculators and didn’t know if they are worth it!
So just to be clear, when you’re going from part to total or part to rate, you’re dividing? And if you’re going from total to rate, you’re multiplying?
The T diagram should get you through about 75% of the math portion. Don't stress too much about the math, it's a small portion of the exam so if you can get the T diagram down you'll do great!
This math is probably child's play for HS students who practice word problems everyday. Really confusing for those of us who haven't done it in few years. PRACTICE!
I’m just starting to get into my courses to take my test and I watched this thinking “is that all the math for the test” cause I’m only 2 years out of highschool and this are relatively simple word problems for me😂
depending on what the question is asking or which numbers you'll be plugging it to the equation it may not matter, but to be safe I always put the total on the left and rate on the right. (plus rate on the right is easy to remember!)
I was told if I dont pass the math i dont pass the national . Is this true? I've already passed the state portion , but cant seem to pass the national .
That’s not true at all because if you got every math question wrong but the rest of the questions right, you will pass. However I recommend having a general understanding of the math because I did have 8 math questions on my national exam. If I had gotten every single one wrong, I still would’ve passed, but it puts a lot of pressure on all of the other questions.
@@JenniferBergman thank you so much . My broker in WA state keeps telling me I can't pass unless I get a 70% on the math portion and I'm awful at math. This will be my 4th time taking the test and for once I I'm really confident in my vocab but now I feel bad about the math so I really hope your right . Although I will be practicing my math . I keep getting a 65% but I thought it was because of the math .thank you for replying.
@@CoffeeDarkplz I’m not sure exactly how the WA exam works, but ours in CO isn’t broken up into “math” sections, we just had math questions on the exam. Either way don’t let the practice exams stress you out. I never scored higher than a 71% on the practice exams and I scored over 90% on the state and national exam to get my license.
This doesn’t work. It’s impossible to remember the specific “T” formula to solve an specific problem. There are various “T” formulas and it’s hard to know which T-bar belongs to what problem.
The T is there to help make plugging in numbers easier. It’s a base formula that shows the relationship between the total, part and rate. It worked great for me but everyone learns differently, thanks for watching and sorry it didn’t work for you!
I took the national my 4th time and failed by 6 points I know I will get it next time I really hope I just don’t know what to do besides keep looking at the book, but I really want to pass
Don't go back and change any of your answers once you finish and review, just go with your gut every time and keep moving forward. Staying relaxed and taking bathroom breaks to shake out my legs helped me a ton too!
@@JenniferBergman okay I will thank you do you have any tips on more study tools or because I feel like I know the material but the way they word it tricks me
@@myahrussell48 yes, when you read a question on the exam, write down what the question is asking you in your own words BEFORE reading the multiple choice answers. That way you have an answer in your head and you won’t let the wording trip you up. It worked wonders for me.
The most simple way to remember is the “part” is the smaller number. So if the question is: A house sells for $100,000 and the commission rate is 6%. What is the commission amount? Part = commission 100,000 x .06 = 6,000 If they give you the commission and cost of the house, and ask for the rate, then the “part” would be the commission and you would calculate for the rate. I hope this helps!
I believe that helped me out I also had question of where the plug those numbers in. I failed twice the last test I failed by five points zero out of eight on math. I had chose not to study math now I'm forced to.
@@Walt80 I’m glad it helped you out! Having a basic understanding of the math helps you pass the exam but it is also is useful once you have your license and you’re working with clients 👌

Definitely practice prorations! That was most of the math I had. You got this!
Does these math problems in every state?
Yes they do. The days in the calendar year may depend on your state though for the proration problems.
Girl you are the bomb 💣 Thank you ☺
Awe thank you!! ☺️☺️☺️
Does it matter if the rate and total are on the left or right?
depending on what the question is asking or which numbers you'll be plugging it to the equation it may not matter, but to be safe I always put the total on the left and rate on the right. (plus rate on the right is easy to remember!)
@@JenniferBergman I take my test on Nov22. I'll let you know how it goes 😏
@@BayouHotBoy1 you got this!! I look forward to hearing from you after you PASSED :)
Very good video!
msutt12 thank you so much!!! You’re actually my 100th subscriber as well!!! :) I’ll definitely keep making more videos to keep helping you guys!
do you get a calculator on your exam?
I was only able to concentrate on the math when she took herself off the screen, 😍😍
Your videos are very helpful, thank you! Can you please do one on closings and credits/debits?
I have videos on both of those!! Check out my other videos on my channel and if you can't find them for any reason let me know!
Is math in the CA test
yes it is, just the prorations calendar will change from state to state
This doesn’t work.
I'm 15 I want to be a real estate agent so I'm practicing early writing down notes so it can be easier for me when I turn 23
That's awesome!! Let me know if you have any questions along the way!
Do this work for Florida
Yes this works for all states
@@JenniferBergman okay thank you so much!
What does the "part" represent?
The most simple way to remember is the “part” is the smaller number. So if the question is: A house sells for $100,000 and the commission rate is 6%. What is the commission amount?
Part = commission
100,000 x .06 = 6,000
If they give you the commission and cost of the house, and ask for the rate, then the “part” would be the commission and you would calculate for the rate.
Thank you for dumbing it down. For ME..
THE NATIONAL EXAM IS GOOD FOR MASSACHUSETTS TOO
Take my test in another week wish me luck
GOOD LUCK!!! You got this!! Let me know how it goes!!
This doesn't have Delaware
What doesn’t?
It has been so confusing need to study more feels like brain fog........HELP
It will always feel like a brain fog up until the point when you pass your exam!! Stay positive you got this!
