Recently purchased a set of knives thru Amazon, delivery was quick even within these pandemic times, and not knowing much of BeaverCraft as a vendor. Well worth the money, totally impressed with their products... they included a strop not thinking much about it...then I tried it and the sharpening results were amazing. I’m purchasing their carving scoops on my next order...great products BeaverCraft
Cutting all that material away is pretty tough. I have always seen ppl use a band saw to cut the figure out. Crazy he had the patience to remove all that with a knife. Bet his hands were sore.
Really? Basswood is quite soft. I was watching this thinking it looked easy to carve. I carve dried pine (which is a softwood), and find that quite tough.. I even make shallower cuts, and sharpen my knife every minute or so.
Do you have a team of assistants stropping the tools as you progress through these marathon carving sessions? You don't break off to re-strop as you progress. Do the factory knives/tools come as sharp as yours are? You can make massive cuts/removals and I know how sharp a blade must be to cut that much wood at a stroke.
All our tools are razor-sharp right out of the box, so you don't need to wait and start carving right away. In addition, we don't need a team to strop the tools because it's easy to do with a leather strop and polishing compound. We have a video about it here: ruclips.net/video/_u2sUMkVvW4/видео.html

Oh my god please invest in a small bandsaw! You will get half of your life back and be able to spend that time carving the details after you rough it out on the bandsaw. Also, try using a slicing motion when using your push and pull (paring) cuts. You will not have to strop as often and you will get a better cut finish on the wood. I'm a professional woodcarver and I also teach it. Just my 2 cents! Nice work!
Your tutorials and knives are great! A tutorial for tapir and okapi would be amazing. I know not the most typical animals, but both are beautiful!
Super cute
Thank you! 😊

What type of wood? It’s either hard or the knives a dull! The person seems to struggle

Thanks, Justin. But woodcarving is a relaxing hobby for us. That's why we use only hand tools without a bandsaw.
You could save yourself 25 mins at least by cutting the 2d out with a coping saw and a clamp.
Thanks. We use only hand tools as wood carving is a relaxing hobby
@@BeaverCraftTools coping saw is a hand tool. But each to their own. Your carving was a nice piece.
