LURE FISHING FOR BROWN TROUT IN SCOTLAND

- On an uncharacteristically bright and sunny day, I took to the remote hills of the Highlands of Scotland and found a beautiful loch which contained some stunning fish. These fish were not the biggest trout in the world but they certainly put up a decent scrap on my light setup. Despite being a still day the fish were biting and I spent a few blissful hours in total isolation!
I was using a finesse jig on which I had put a soft plastic crayfish lure, sideways so as to resemble a fish swimming when I swam it back through the water.

wow great fishing ! thank you for the share your knowledge of trout fishing ! liked !
Thanks
What knowledge? Just get to a pond like this, then you can throuw in your freaking cut off toenail and will catch these fish. There is absolutely no knowledge or skill involved.
Great video and content 😊
Great stuff well done mate
Cheers
Nice one, looks like a brilliant wee spot 👌🏼
Thanks it’s only productive early in the season then all the fish go into the deep water
Ill be there in Oct i wonder is there a lot of public waters to fish and do I have to have a license to fish for brown trout in Scotland as an American tourist?
That was a good wee video mate, you did very well considering the bright and calm conditions. Just love the baitcaster/bfs setup, it’s not that popular in Scotland but it’s a brilliant way to fish👍🎣keep up the good work
Cheers mate. It’s a great way to fish but sadly I had to get rid of it because the rod was too light for the fishing I do now and I struggled to set the hook hard enough to keep the fish pinned. It takes a bit of getting used to but once you can cast it it’s a really fun way to fish. Hopefully get out at the perch soon
@@thestobo7404 I just started bfs fishing last year had some perch on the river and loch using the zman lures. Was that a zman skirted jig you were using?
No I think it was an old Keitech one I got off Amazon. The zman stuff is rly solid tbf. Where abouts do you fish for perch?
@@thestobo7404 river Endrick and Loch Lomond mostly, they are on some of my videos
Nice il check them out. Do you know of anywhere good to fish near St. Andrews?
Should I use barbless treble hooks or is single barbless alright for trout catch and release?
I tend to use barbed hooks as the trout don’t rly swallow the lure down far so they are easy to get out plus you get a better hook up ratio
Great video 👌🏼 i am jealous👍🏼😂
Thanks
What's the lure that your using I'm from Scotland and never seen that type of lure used unless in videos from America
Leon Stebbings it’s an American bass jig. I got some for perch fishing but never had any luck on them. They work rly well for pike
Im also from scotland.Meps spinners are really good for sea trout brown trout pike perch ferox and cod they are blue fox 2 mep spinners
@@thestobo7404 a really good place to fish for perch is the gryffe resovior and herlaw resovior in greenock scotland
riya heffernan cheers that’s a bit far from me though
Is that stocked or just a hill loch? 👍
Is this the craggs at Dumbarton
nah sorry
@@thestobo7404 don't tell the location
alright mate what u say is the best tackle to use for loch fishing ?
Rly I just use any lures that are around 5 cm. I’d say you rly can’t go wrong with a mepp or a small spoon though
Where is this?
We're was that u were fishing
I'm from the Highlands.. its permitted waters now
Where do you think this was? And how would it be permitted?
@@thestobo7404 if you have a way of sending it privately I will send it but not willing to put it on RUclips as we already have way to many people touring just now and destroying the place
