Awesome video! I'm in Cleveland with a 2003 Saab 9-3 NG and I definitely need to fix some rust this spring. May have to make a trip down to visit John, as finding matching body parts is rough and like you said, most shops won't mess with rust at all. Thank you for giving us Saab owners more valuable information!
Unfortunately, this is a common issue for these 9-3s, all of them here in Sweden have rusty rear arches. I had a guy fix mine this spring, he welded in new metal sheets from Maptun, and painted it, it cost me around 10k SEK or around 900 USD, but it had to be done, totally transformed the car. And you're right, mine was worse on the passanger side. Also, 1st :D
Hi Gary, you should make more interviews and reportages like that, good work. I have to do the same on my wagon and I am afraid of what I could find...
I guess I'm lucky with where I live, my 2011 9-3 xwd only has some light surface rust underneath and with a wire brush and some rust protection paint both subframes would look like new 😁
Great video! I have a question about a problem I have on my saab 9-3 2003 ng and the problem is a steering wheel malfunction and I was wondering if you had any idea about this?
Hey man I’m from Ohio and in the Saab groups on face book. Most all of them. I’m 4 years deep and about 15 grand into modifications. I have a few questions on the turbo and some tuning questions. Please if you can send me a message somehow. Name is Daniel Cook
I paid $800 USD for rust repair and $600 for paint work, which came in under what I thought it would cost. It would have been a lot cheaper had the rocker area not have been so bad. Either way, I'm very pleased with the results!

Wow! In a week with such horrifying news, this is the COOLEST video that I have seen all week. It would be great to learn such metal work.

Nice to meet a fellow Ohio Saaber! Shoot me an email weakestofweaks@gmail.com
@ I tried the email and they will not deliver, it is saying that you are not receiving mail at this time and or it is the wrong email
@DDCSaab Try just copying and pasting "weakestofweaks@gmail.com" in the to of email. Sometimes clicking links through RUclips gets weird
@@WeakestofWeeks I may have figured it out. I was putting “weakestofweaks” not “weakestofweeks”
Is that the hirsch spoiler or turbo x?
It's a Hirsch spoiler
How much did this repair cost you?
