  • I usually add custom steering wheels to all of my collection BMW projects. This one I designed. I chose a flat bottom for a more classy look. I had a pal of mine from Germany bespoke it for me.
I waited over a month for the wheel to get here only to discover that I had told him the wrong color for the leather. My interior is actually Ivory white. I had originally thought it was Venetian Beige. My error. He did offer to rewrap the wheel for me but unfortunately the manufacturer had no stock of Ivory white.
After weighing a few options, I decided to go with a leather dye from a company called seat doctors. 👇

The product they sent was an 8oz container of Ivory White BMW dye. It was way more than enough to cover the wheel parts. I still have over 3 quarters of the bottle left that I can use to touch up the interior.
The wheel came 2 tone. Black and beige with tri colored M stitching. So as not to get any dye on the black past of the wheel I make those areas off with masking tape and paper. I made sure to be very careful when masking off to minimize any chance of dying the black areas.
The product was extremely easy to use and came with very simple instructions to follow.

Hey, good question. Here's an honest answer. It's a good product. The color I chose needs to be cleaned often since its on a steering wheel that gets touched all the time. It gets filthy actually. So there's that. Plus one or two areas I've noticed that I'm going to have to reapply one day because the areas have daded back and I can see the natural wheel color. I would blame that on me, not the product because it only happened in about 2 small areas. Everywhere else held up fine. When I clean it it looks amazing still. Just doesn't stay clean forever. Now what I'd say is if you quickly wipe it down wit a slightly damp cloth everything you get out the car it should stay clean. But who has time for that?
