Police vs. Atlanta: The Battle Over Cop City

  • Atlanta is building a $90 million state-of-the-art police training facility that activists call “Cop City.” Major corporations like UPS, Home Depot and Delta Air Lines are investing millions of dollars into the project, financially pressuring politicians to push the plan forward.
    The Atlanta Police Foundation is one of the most powerful police foundations in the country.
    Forest defenders are occupying the forest by living in trees and destroying equipment to resist the building of the campus. The city calls them “domestic terrorists.”
    We take you inside the battle against “Cop City” as both the city and defenders refuse to back down.

    Black Wall Street known as a thriving black Mecca
    Atlanta known as a thriving black Mecca
    Cop City - URBAN TRAINING CENTER. Pretty interesting on how this is going to turn out in the next couple of years for the city of Atlanta and all of its black millionaires. Just seems like there’s more to this. Most surveilled city with the surveillance financed by the police foundation. Why Atlanta and not Chicago? 54 people were killed in Chicago just 2 weeks ago. Strange

We need all hands on deck!

    I think it's too big. Over 100 acres? That's crazy-town. Something is needed though! Especially when you also consider that this is happening in Atlanta - one of the most crime ridden areas in the United States. There are over 100,000 (one hundred thousand) gang members in Atlanta. Pretty much most (or at least a large percentage) of the cop shooting videos (most/almost all justified) we see here on RUclips, come from Atlanta. :o
    Goodness me!

    • @teletesselator
      @teletesselator Год назад

      For reference, the standard American Football field (without sidelines) is 1.32 acres. That's 3 football fields for every 4 acres. "Cop City" is over 100 acres. This department already has a fairly large shooting range - so nothing or at least not much more is needed for that.
      Also troubling is Atlanta's cooperative involvement with Israeli forces in conjunction with this project. Not good! Not good at all!

      @@teletesselator Rifle ranges and training ranges require different regulation and safety protocol. Plus EMS building and training. Plus a fire tower and firefighter training facility along with many other. It’s for all first responders. Also was an old prison site and built on already cleared space.

    • @teletesselator
      @teletesselator Год назад

      @@OvercomeEverythingJosh According to the video no, it is NOT "already cleared space". If it were already cleared then they wouldn't have to be removing TREE HOUSES. Duh.
      Whether or not that much space is justifiable is arguable, I grant that. You're opinion is different than mine on that topic. I think each of the activities you mentioned should placed at least a mile from each other and not part of a central compound.
      Places contribute to a mindset. You're likely to think differently about your high school, collage, or university if it occupies 100 acres and has areas for every field of study (connected) than you are if your school occupies one acre in a 10 story building and is dedicated to only the hard sciences.
      I personally think the later is more beneficial in promoting the mindset I would hope to have in a police force. YMMV.
      Yes, deadly force is sometimes needed and especially in the Atlanta area but cops should feel as if and operate from the idea that they are part and parcel of the community they are policing. NOT an all-powerful mega-culture removed and superior from the people they _serving_.
      That's one of the reasons I think it's too big. And the other lesser reason, is that yes, indeed, they are ripping up the land in order to construct it. The people in the area affected by this project are aware of these two - whether consciously or subconsciously - and have good reason to object. Noise is probably another even more minor reason. At last, there are more good reasons against constructing a mega facility than there are for.
      Lastly, that Israel is involved in any way shape or form with U.S. policing is a huge shame on those allowing it. Worst idea ever! The USA is NOT Israel and I hope with all my heart that we never become like them - especially having to do with law enforcement!!!

      The neighborhood wants it. The few blacks in this video are the only ones who don't want it. The white protesters have no clue. This is nothing more than a land grab by squatters who refuse to leave.
