The riff is easy for me but I can’t get the solo down it doesn’t sound right. edit:(never mind. I slowed down the video and my timing was off I playing the solo too fast)
Used to play this song all the time when I was 16 easily all the time.....Now I'm 30 trying to relearn and fuck, I should never have stopped playing guitar
I’ve been caught in the beginner-intermediate rut for a few years. Too lazy to transcribe entire songs by ear but tired of improvising to backing tracks and songs I don’t know how to play. You’ve bridged that gap for me. Deepest gratitude for the work you’ve done.
i don't know if im supposed to have my first finger holding down the 7th bar chords or to be releasing them, if i hold 'em down i keep doing "acidental pull-offs" with second finger so, yeah, i can relate
I've watching all your videos, you're far more better than any guy playing guitar I've ever seen on RUclips! I'm an amateur guitarist and I love indie rock, so every time I play a song from the Arctic Monkeys, or The Strokes, I watch your videos for learning better!!! :)

Great work man this is pretty spot on, only thing I would add would be the top guitar needs to play a bit more aggressively and I think his fast riff part is played with all downstrokes to give the right tone 👌🤘
One thing that always confused me is that on alberts part on the intro/pre chorus, it looks like you're continuously strumming downwards without stopping but you can clearly hear the little pauses in between the notes
Jesus even the Ultimate Guitar official tab is completely wrong, which makes no sense considering you can clearly see that he mutes the A and D strings of the 7th fret in the music video. This is the first proper tab that’s actually correct that I’ve seen
with your index finger, you're gonna lay them on top of all the other strings, barely touching them, and make sure you're pressing down on the actual note you want, and then with your middle finger just put them before your index and play away.
Still don’t understand intro alberts part. There are only 10 notes but his hand still going down down down xD I think there are muted notes but it doesn’t appear in the tab so…
videofreak Found out he had an Ask.fm page, asked him. Mute E string with with long finger, Index finger on the A string, Mute D string with your index finger, Mute G string with your ring finger, Pinky finger on the B string, Mute e string with pinky finger.
videofreak I mean, the index finger and ring finger mute the D and e strings by default, then you just gotta get the E and G strings out of the way, which you can do easily by using the long and ring fingers. Hardest part is keeping the ring finger from pushing down too much.
Man, thanks for your vidw. Always great! But here what kind of scale are they using? On the main riff, it's like D - B - A - G#. From what scale does it take its origin? Might seems stupid to some of you. Anyone could help and give me some info?
They actually play it like that. Nick Valensi plays the rythmic part and the solo while Albert Hammond Jr. plays all the lead part without the solo. It's one of the rare songs where Albert plays the lead and Nick the rythm ;)

legit the riff before the solo is more harder than the solo itself... nick and albert is one heck of an underrated guitar player....

took me a solid week to get it down. fucking amazing riff though

Kudos for nailing both Nick and AHJ!
The lead guitar picking in the main chorus part b is amazing.

It’s not hard if you’re an intermediate level guitarist. It’s a simple 8th note melody

Damn. That fast part of the solo is killing me.. What fingers would you guys use for that 11 - 9 - 11 - 7 part?

Still don’t understand intro alberts part. There are only 10 notes but his hand still going down down down xD I think there are muted notes but it doesn’t appear in the tab so…
How do I mute the strings in between the A and B strings during the chorus?
I use the underside of my index finger, kind of like a barre but with only enough pressure to mute.
videofreak Found out he had an Ask.fm page, asked him.
Mute E string with with long finger,
Index finger on the A string,
Mute D string with your index finger,
Mute G string with your ring finger,
Pinky finger on the B string,
Mute e string with pinky finger.
Huh, a little more complicated than what I do but it's good to know the technically correct method.
videofreak I mean, the index finger and ring finger mute the D and e strings by default, then you just gotta get the E and G strings out of the way, which you can do easily by using the long and ring fingers. Hardest part is keeping the ring finger from pushing down too much.

Okay so I'm not exactly sure, but which one is the lead and which one is the rythm?
lead and rhythm seem to be mixed unless you arrange it for two guitars with one being dominant lead and maybe the rhythm guitarist also singing
They actually play it like that. Nick Valensi plays the rythmic part and the solo while Albert Hammond Jr. plays all the lead part without the solo. It's one of the rare songs where Albert plays the lead and Nick the rythm ;)
