I noticed that your black base wasn't super glossy. when I was at Arkom's demonstrations, all of their sample spoons were high gloss so they had a very nice sheen. Hope this helps!
You are correct. I used the Gold Chrome on Vallejo Gloss Black polyurethane primer while it's still tacky and almost mirror-like finish but there is still a bit of sparkle.
Use the lacquer base, their water base is not really good for applying their pigment products cuz it dries too fast, also it's not advisable to use sponges cuz the pigments would only be trapped in-between its pores. If you can't find silicon brushes then its better to use your fingers or a clear glue stick (the one you use in hot glue guns) then cut a tip that suits for the surface you are applying on.
So i can use mr hobby primer and i can use my fingers or a gluestick (the one for guns) and apply it?

I think Inca would be good for the psycho frame since the awakened frame of the Unicorn is green. So a gold-green color would be more appropriate imo

hello, can I use lacquer based or enamel paint top coat to paint over the pigment?
Here in the US, apparently we can't get their base and primer so I used Mr. Surfacer 1200 for the primer and then Vallejo Gloss Black for the base and it works absolutely amazingly. It even worked on pieces that cured for 3 days. You should try that way if you having issues with their brand primer and base coat.

I tried on a piece that cured for 10 mins with Vallejo and this shit does not work. I got awful results. I tried again using thinner, flow improved, waited 5 mins, waited 15 mins, all oh which got some variation of a bad result and nothing like a chrome finish at all. Also tried with acrylic gloss coat and the same time variations, same terrible result.

You can do the same thing with a matt top coat and graphite powder. Also the Inca gold/green would look good for NU Gundam Psycho Frame.
Do you think crushed pencil lead can be an alternative for graphite powder?
@@DarkROSkull013 Use artist pencils. Higher graphite content.
The waterbase primers aren't really gonna bring out the max gloss and sheen of the pigments. Armored Komodo does have the light curing gloss black, grey, and white and they are awesome and eliminates the sparkling of the pigments.

I have questions, and this is because I'm still new to painting.
The base coats are primers, right? If so, can you use water to thin them and can you hand paint these as well?
No, base coats and primers are kind of different things IMO.
But these brand is already pre-thinned so adding some paint thinners is optional. You can directly use it straight from the bottle. You can see it to their page in facebook.
Primers have a very mild texture to help paint 'grab on' more, as well as lighten a part that is molded in a darker color and vice versa. Base coats are used to help get the actual color you want. EG a white base coat with blue will achieve a lighter blue while a black base achieves a darker blue. I hope it makes sense
You could also use black gloss enamel paint as base coat..and to apply the pigment try using silicon brush it works better

I'm planning to restore a 90s Bandai Sailor Moon magic wand which is infamous for its excessive use of Gold Chrome paint on various parts. I'm convinced that Armored Komodo is the brand that I should go for so yeah, what color do you recommend that I use as a Primer (Black or Silver...I'm confused). Thanks.
Easy, look at the color of the label, if background is black, gloss black base, if white then gloss white
Can these be painted over once dry? Like applying a clear color for a candy like effect?

Zak, you can use a Matt top coat and let it dry, then apply the pigment and it will stick and hold wayyyy better.
I bought the chrome gold to use on the special edition shin musha (on hold while I finish my Sherman tank and recover from moving) and had some trouble with it and was going to scrap using powders or use it as highlights. But maybe I let me testor lacquer spray cure too much. When the weather gets better I’ll have to run another test. Thanks!
I find Testors spray goes on in really heavy coats. Have you tried Tamiya or Mr. Colour?
I would try doing some light coats of a color tint clear over the gold and see if you can get some real cool affects.

James Cox correction, Alclad klear kote and aqua gloss is what they recommend as a finishing top coat.

So do you seal the pigments with a clear top coat before applying decals? And if so, will that effect the reflectiveness of the pigments?
Unfortunately, Arkoms topcoat is not available in North America however I saw a comment on another RUclips video recommending people use Alclad's Klear Kote or Aqua gloss to seal the finish. However, I've yet to try this. Do not recommend you use Tamiya clear coat as it will remove any mirror chrome finish and leave you with a very sparkly finish. I found this out while testing on a Spoon.

you are using this wrong. You can't wait for the paint to fully cure to apply the powder. Also you don't need to apply thick layers. If you need help with this, talk to me in the Arkon chat on FB messenger.
Try Eye makeup brushes, in the U.S. you can find good ones at dollar stores. but im not sure in Korea, try a makeup shop, might have some.
How long is the drying time of the pigments?
Once the pigments are properly applied you can touch them, they’re never wet

You can use pigments for nail art in the same way and they are WAY, WAY CHEAPER.
