    Are you sure one of them is a Pink Silver? I believe that I have a Pink Silver, but the new baby leaves are always all green before the "splash" starts appearing! The pink part of its name is because the leaves turn pink to protect itself from too much sun.

    My carnosa queen pushed out a vine, sat and did nothing for a year. I was bringing in the hummingbird feeder to change, tripped and spilled some of the sugar water in the carnosa queen. It gets late afternoon sun. Next I noticed, I had all these burgundy leaves filling in on the vine and more vine growing. I ended up with 6" of new growth in 3 months leaves filling in all over so I continued to "spill" hummingbird feeder juice in once a month. You might try it on your pubicalx.

    Love your videos. My Pubicalyx is hanging above a large tub in my bathroom next to a southwest window. It is at least two feet tall and wide with runners winding everywhere. They wrap around blinds and travel to the tall ceiling. If u are short on room it’s not the plant for u. After it’s shower it is also heavy Still love its beauty.

      Thank you so much! 💚Yes, I think they are excellent growers. I could make some space, but I want to get more different Hoyas, not just use it all up on one Hoya :D If that makes sense. But it's pretty funny, one day I woke up and vine of my pubicalyx went through the holes of my adansonii and started wrapping itself around the bamboo stake (for adansonii). Personal space, no? :D

      I have mine on a trellis but not sure how to wrap the 3 foot long vine that’s grown since I purchased it. I heard certain ways you wrap it can cause them to die off.. what to do?? 🤷🏻‍♀️
      Mine also has grown leaves like crazy! And a peduncle 🥰 it was my first Hoya purchased in June, so I’m a newbie

    Great series! I have a very mature pubicalyx I bought on fb marketplace and it was about 7feet long. It grew in a shelf and didn't look nice after unwinding it. I had to chop it and propagate it. I sold some and made my money back and got so many beautiful plants from it

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  4 года назад

      It's good you could do that! And now you probably have many beautiful pubicalyxes yourself :D

    I remember finding wild Hoya pubicalyx growing on limestone islets during fieldwork in northern Polillo island in 2005. Found wild Hoya meliflua in mangroves on nearby Balesin island in 2017.

    Thank you Basie for an excellent Hoya series. I REALLY learnt a lot and enjoyed watching your videos.
    I have a few varieties of pubicalyx and so far they are growing well, I haven't had them long enough for flowers but I've heard they smell pretty amazing too.

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  4 года назад +1

      Thank you! I am happy to hear it was enjoyable :) Pubicalyx is an excellent grower but I do believe it needs more time to flower. Hopefully, both of us will see some pretty flowers this year :)

  • @williammalone8097

    I am learning lot from watching your videos. Thank you, they are very informative and enjoyable to watch. you're more human than others on the web, as you always bring a lot of humor to the table as well as growing information. I and others like me can certainly relate to you.
    I have a pubicalyx that I bought as a three inch cutting in late April early May. I have it outside for the summer in a small home built unheated greenhouse. Shortly I'll be bringing it inside for the winter, but in that short amount of time, from April to present, it must have grown three feet and has shot out two additional vines! This is by far the fastest growing plant I've seen. It's too young for flowers, but I'm hoping that next year I'll get to see it bloom.
    You take care, enjoy your plants, stay safe and healthy and continuing educating us in the joys of living with our plants.
    Thank you again.
    Later,
    Bill M....

      Thank you for those kind words. Yes, some cultivars of pubicalyx are really fast! Some, not so much. My pubicorolla 1-011 is quite slow with growth, but I can't wait for those flowers! I guess all of them should be pubicorollas, but the pubicalyx name just got stuck. Another fast growing Hoya is australis ssp. tenuipes - it is a monster! It can grow more than a meter in just a month or so. Mine has tried to bloom but red spider mites were not very helpful there. I hope it can bloom next summer though. Thank you for watching and I am very happy you are enjoying the videos! :)

    OMG you are a star.. You are sooo good in the way you describe the difference between the different Hoya's.. I will see all the 30 days if Hoya AND all your other video's..
    I wrote yesterday that you are stuck with me.. And you said or many I'm stuck with you. It's good to have a friend that's so vice in flowers. I'm fairly new in Hoya but the love for the plant is unbelievable.. They stole my heart.. The beauty of the different species, the color shape and let's not forget the flowers.
    Thank you for your video's and you deserve a lot more subscripers. 😉

They are care sheets, maybe they are useful :) I don't even know where I am with hoyas now. It goes beyond flower and foliage fascination. They are captivating 💚

    Congratulations with the 30d day of hoya!) Great work!
    I guess hoyas root worse and longer in winter and autumn. I had my Silver ghoust and lacunosa rooting the whole year! They were cut and put in soil in autumn.
