    This bike is the reason why i went for my test. It just looks awesome, real old skool and sounds amazing. I love the way they look bobbered but standard look is the way for me. The tank would be an issue but... it looks so fkin sweet! Just a bar hopper and fk what some people say about it being a "girls bike" all bikes could be girls bikes 😅 one day when i can afford it, it is getting bought. Have to settle for my cheap VFR for now!

      I enjoy it! It was the look that sold me on it as well. Once i added the new slip ons now I'm hooked!

    This has got to be the best Sportster HD has ever made, it rides nice, has plenty of get up and go with the instant low end torque and feels much larger than what it is with the forward controls! I just got off a 2022 Road Glide ST and my 48 Sportster is more fun to ride around town and etc. I got into the touring bagger craze and bought bikes that didn't fit my riding style until I finally educated up and got a Sportster. My riding consists of short trips right around town and this bike does it perfectly!

      Same with mine, I usually map out where and how far I'm going to ride. If ita a group ride then I bring a different bike. A lot of people sleep on the torque on the 1200. Thanks for watching!

    If the motor is running hot, check your intake connections with some carb spray or something that will burn while the motor is running. If it increases speed, you have an air leak. An air leak at the intake manifold can cause a lean burn condition and the motor may run hot as well as not quite run as it should.

      I'll definitely check! Thanks for the tip!

    I don't believe there is an exhaust made that can make a Sportster sound bad. Some will make it quiet, and others will make it loud, but I don't think a Sportster can sound bad. All other twins sound like lawnmowers to me, some rather quiet, but most of them loud. I prefer a quiet exhaust but not too quiet. I like to hear the motor (Sportster) quietly drone on a trip, but I don't want it to bother my ears after a few hours.
    There will be some variation in the sound depending on the exhaust you choose. If you put on one that has been flattened, it will produce that fishtail type of sound, loud and a bit obnoxious, and if you get shotgun pipes that have a bit of choke at the end, you will get something of a hammer on sound, sort of like a jackhammer.
    I don't think Harley ever made a bad Sportster motor, though I did recently hear that they made the transmission such that you had to spit the cases to repair it, rather than have it all attached to a "door" that bolted on, like it's supposed to be, like my AMF had.

    I've been looking into the 48. I was thinking that if I had one I would like to get a high backed seat made, a wider one for long rides, and behind that, get an aluminum auxiliary tank made (2 gallon?) that could be shaped such that it might look like a real deeply padded and long passenger seat with a bit of a high back, which would be covered as if it were a seat and have a Velcro flap in the high back part for a filler neck and cap. Then when the gas light comes on, I could reach down with my left hand and turn a valve and hopefully let gravity do its thing. The 48 is a beautiful bike imo.
    Maybe that would make it look something like the old Viking snowmobile that had the big hump in the seat which hid the gas tank, I dont' know...or maybe some auxiliary small gas tanks made to go on each side of the oil tank or something, I don't know, but my goal would be a 200 mile range or as close as I could get to that. Then I could ride with the big bikes and say "Do we have to stop for gas all the time?"
    I suppose I could even get a rack for the rear fender and put a 2 1/2 gallon gas can in it and cover it with a backpack or something if I had to.

    Thanks everything you said makes sense and I'm steering away from it now we shouldn't have to dump money in it for issues that shouldn't be there to begin with 👍

      Don't let it push you away from the bike. They're amazing bikes stock. You don't have to dump all that cash into it, It's an opinion.

    • @ramblinjay3816

      I mean honestly think about it. The more luxury someone has under their belt then goes to a bone stock bike, the creature comforts are gonna be wanted, No one knows right out the gate what is bad or good until proven against other models. They're absoutely awesome bikes even for long distance. The 2.1g is a minor thing. I've got close to 90 miles on my forty eight, just get two fuel bottles and like he said plan out your ride, that should be a thing to begin with, with any motorcycle. And the light, you can buy an aftermarket daymaker for 30 bucks if ya really need it.

    • @1RaceLifestyle
      @1RaceLifestyle  Год назад

      @Ramblin' Jay 100% agree, even stock, which is how the bike currently sits minus the day maker and led tail lights. The bike performs great! The mileage has not been an issue. I do still need to get a fuel bottle. The only major changes currently planned are the exhaust, and Blockhead is gonna tune it for me.

      I've been looking around online for different options and this is one of several that I've seen to have a similar profile but bigger capacity.

    I just bought the same bike but it’s 22 model witch is the same as yours and I’m thinking about changing the light and the exhaust but can you plz tell me where did you get your seat

    • @1RaceLifestyle
      @1RaceLifestyle  Год назад +1

      The seat came with the bike from the previous owner. It is a Harley manufactured seat, I believe it's called the badlander. I am looking into getting a new one. Although it is comfortable, it is also pretty slippery. I would prefer more of a low profile seat.

    What sucks is Harley has heard all of those complaints but never changed any of them, they want you to buy the upgrades from them. Indian Scout Bobber kicks the Forty Eight's ass. The Forty Eight is great looking but not the bike it could be.

    You should obviously not own a 48. Sell it, buy a Honda
