- So Omega just quitely discontinued the Railmaster model, again. What's wrong with the Raimaster is that its fate is unsettled once more. In this video, I will share my experience with the Omega Railmaster with the silver dial. The Railmaster is the best alternative to the Rolex Milgauss and Explorer from Omega. I personally think that the Railmaster is a very underrated watch. The recent iteration is quite an interesting watch in specs and design. But why is this model from Omega so unpopular?

I purchased the denim one last month at a great price once word got out that it was discontinued. Really liking it.
I love this watch. Definitely a slow release charmer. Wears so well on the wrist.
Some suggested improvements.
1. Use straight lugs. Lyre lugs are used in too many other Omega models.
2. Make it smaller. 38 to 39mm
3. Adjustable clasp instead of butterfly clasp.
4. Offer fauxtina and regular lume options within same dial colours.
5. Domed crystal like the 57 trilogy would be nice.
Yeah, the denim dial in 39mm on an adjustable bracelet would be perfect
6. ...and the upgraded caliber like the AT: 60h power reserve, two barrels, more accurate and the amazing timezone function
I prefer the lyre lugs, but otherwise love all your suggestions. I definitely that while it was in when these were released, the faux patina lume is getting a bit tired as an aesthetic. I'd love to see it fall back to 39mm in size, though I have zero problem with 40. Maybe even a 36 and a 39/40mm size. I'd also love a tapering, quick adjust bracelet. I don't need a lot of adjustment like a dive watch, but at least some, while keeping the clasp compact. The type of clasp was one of the reasons I did not buy the watch a couple years ago. Otherwise I was surprised at how nice it was on wrist. I want to see a bit more polish on it, especially the hands. I do like the sandwich dial type lume plots, as that allows for great lume. I think it could be a better competitor to the Explorer, but Omega has to want it.
The lyre lugs are one of the reasons I love Omega and my blue Railmaster. The 1957 variant, De Ville, Ed White - to me the lugs is what is missing to be closer to perfect.
Always like the Railmaster but never found a place for it on my collection.
I live in Hawaii. Just went to the Omega website. I see all the Railmasters under Seamaster Heritage models and able to add to basket.
Thanks for the info.
Sir which do you prefer as to wearability and looks per your experience is it the omega railmaster or tudor bb58 blue? Tnx
I’m glad that I got my silver Railmaster based on your review and I absolutely love it. It is a stunning time piece. Since it going to be discontinued, I’m eyeing the Denim dial one which is currently on sale at grey market sites. Thanks again sir.
Thanks. Glad that my video was helpful and glad that you still enjoying the watch. Honestly I love all 3 variants.
Bought one today in Japan. With silver dial and bracelet. Funny story, on my previous visit one year ago, I noticed it in the watch store at BIC camera, and this year it was there again. Not anymore).
I think the issue was that Aqua Terra is the modern Railmaster in terms of the looks and function in the Omega catalog. The Railmaster as it was released is more like the heritage line, kind of like the speedmaster pro and seamaster 300(not the 300m pro). The heritage lines do not have much room to change and grow, and without the AT officially recognized as the modern Railmaster the whole line was doomed to fail. I think Omega should recategorize the AT under Railmaster with the next gen AT release and bring back the heritage Railmaster at that time with the next gen movement.
its officialy discontinued, confirmed by the omega boutique at their headquarters in switzerland. just was in today to buy their last remaining black denim strap they had in stock for my black railmaster.
Thanks for asking them and letting us know! I don’t think they shared any future plans for the model?
@@OneManReviews unfortunately not, but the two sales reps that i had the pleasure to discuss it with today both were sad to see the railmaster leave the current line up & didnt seem to know anything about any upcoming new models. im also hoping for a 38 model in the future. the black denim strap suits the watch perfectly, but really doesnt help the overall size, nevertheless i had to have it now since i didnt know if they get discontinued as well. i was also suspecting that the watch was getting retired as they are no longer in the official omega catalaogue which i recieved 2 weeks ago. your vid made me visit them, thanks for that 🙂👍🏻
I have the silver one like you. Great tool and sport watch. Wear it to work on a farm.
It is a great sport/field watch indeed.
I'm wearing my 2006 42mm Railmaster right now.Beautiful watch.
That's a very cool version.
I love my Railmaster in black. I’ve had it for almost a year and it’s just a great fit and the dial is beautiful.
It's a great watch.
Couple of months ago I was trying the denim version in Dubai omega boutique. Great watch. BWT there was a huge discount for it and I was almost ready for buying but in last minute I changed my mind in favour of Planet Ocean.
Planet Ocean is a great watch. Good choice.
I see them still listed on the US site at least.
Yeah I mentioned it in the video that localized sites still showing Railmasters.
Cool tool watch, but it should be 1 mm thinner. And you're right, they could have done that. Their 38 mm Aqua Terra is 1/2 mm thinner, with the same 150 m of water resistance and the same movement plus a date complication.
No!!!!
I want that watch, but i wont be able to do so until next January 😫
I have the Railmaster Denim Dial variant. Great watch. Just disappears on my wrist and looks great. A proper omega enthusiasts kinda watch. I also have a Seamaster 9900 chronograph. Love Omega. A lot of watch for your £€$
The denim dial version is very cool and not flashy. Good choice!
Got the same one really like it because it’s unloved.
Hopefully a new smaller, thinner & with micro adjust model, which design wise resembles the model from the 2000s.
That would be perfect.
купил такие же, после просмотра вашего обзора на них, влюбился с 3го взгляда , правда взял черные. Думаю , что для нас, снятие с производства - означает повышение цены на вторичке, на случай продажи, однако, свои я никогда не продам
Thanks. Glad the video was helpful. The black version is probably the most versatile. I wouldn't be so sure that the secondary prices will increase but it's not the issue if you are not planning to sell your watch.
Would be cool in titanium. I just personally find 150g's to be too much for an every day piece.
Watches in bracelets have been 130-170g since the beginning of time
It’s not that bad on the wrist but the titanium version would be very cool.
@@mjdm1925 they used to be lighter when they weren't as solid. Hollow link bracelets etc. But I get that it's a normal weight for a sport watch now and the problem is with me 😅
Very simple classy perfectly sized and durable my only issue is (unlike my 25 year old 2531.80 which I love to death) it has no date which is why it is not my everyday watch. Love the fact that it is brushed and not polished which hides scratches.
Whilst I appreciate the technology of the movement, the current railmaster has never been one that spoke to me. Always felt it would be better with a plain matt black dial, white lume and HAQ movement.
If only Omega made the Railmaster as the separate line then they could’ve added more variants.
Opted for the 20 or so year old last gen 39mm bc of the dial design… not crazy about the denim looking latest but was a cool option. Hope they bring it back with a refresh
The previous get 39mm is one of the best Railmasters out there.
I spoke with one of my local ADs in person a couple days ago. They confirmed it is discontinued and Omega had even asked them to send the 2 they had back to Omega! I'm not sure what the reasoning is for that, but maybe somebody that knows the industry better can comment.
It looks good
I think so too.
I very much like the look of the Railmaster
Yes it's very nice.
It’s brushed steel is good for undercover operators remaining under the radar.
I bought it like new for $2400. Do you think it's cheap or expensive?
I think it's a good price.
@@OneManReviews thanks 😍
I currently have two Omega watches, a GMT and a Chronograph. The Railmaster has never appealed to me though. Too bland.
It is quite bland compared to other Omega models.
Have a silver one - just as yours. Love it.
Love how the dial changes in different lighting.
Was hoping for a 70 year anniversary of the railmaster in 2027.
What is the author 's native language?
Who cares?
Bought a demin new 6 months ago probably at the lowest price in the world 😮.
Congrats. It's a great watch!
@OneManReviews Yeah buy what I like. Luckily this one not many others did so cheap.
Me too. I paid £2,920 brand new (5 years warranty, box, papers etc) in Nov 2023. What did you pay out of interest?
@@mendipfox1650 Bought it from Japan on steel bracelet with no warranty, but with shipping danish tax 2465 pounds.
Just bought the silver dial Railmaster on a bracelet on Chrono24 for $2608 USD. Brand new with 5 year warranty. Total cost after sales tax and custom duties is slightly less than $3,000 USD. Not bad.
Your right, Railmaster out. I’m pissed because I wanted that same silver dial. I think it’s a great looking watch and I’m sure it will come back as an anniversary.
They still might be available at some ADs.
@@OneManReviews yep.
Why are you pissed? Jomashop has them for 50% off retail. Nobody wants that watch.
@@whereRbearsTeeth hahaha. It’s a great watch that goes up against the Milgaus. And yes, not the most popular Omega.
It is very bad. Also the milgaus disapperead from the rolex catalogue. I do not understand
Not their best selling model. I hope we will see a reincarnation of both models.
Omegas problem are just a touch to thick for me
Same here.
I don’t think it’s discontinued. It’s still showing up for me in the US and I can add it to my basket and checkout.
I mentioned it in the video that some markets still have it on local websites.
If you want, I can help you grow your RUclips channel
Don't make a video if you are not sure.
Ugliest watch in the entire omega lineup. Jomashop can’t even sell them for 50% off
If they do 60%, I will buy it 😂
Do you have link please?
You clearly have no taste
I love this watch!!!
@@AR-hw9zi if you think that ridiculous looking fake patina is attractive, then you clearly are the one with ZERO taste. Like I said, there’s a reason Jomashop has them for half off retail and they still don’t sell.
