Love this...clean, hard, fun, EVEN stick heights, solid drumming, not as much show, more emphasis on what is being played, rather than showing off...would rather see this any day, than a "show" line.
I've always been a big fan of the chiefs. It's a great music program all around. Big 8 has always been one of the most original. I don't listen to a college line for drum corps cadences. It was nice to see a line that could hold their own with them.
The point of a drum battle is to prove who has more skill AND style, FSU wins by a mile, Clemson looked like robots and didn't look like they were having a good time, FSU was rocking out! The winner, FSU. No questions asked.
YEAH FSU. i love drumlines that are still and not so up-tight and formal. Drumming was a form of expression used around the world, and should still be that. and to me FSU won.
Tigers improved over their last encounter with the Big 8 but it is hard to compare with one of the best drumlines in America. Big 8-Literally blows your mind.
What's wrong with a little competition? There's always gonna be a few that didn't grow up but if you're telling me you just "went out there for fun" then you're full of it. When you work hard at something and you're confident in your talent, then of course you want to be the best. Some people just take it too far. Competition is fun and is the best incentive for improvement.
I bleed purple and orange and I have to concede that the Big 8 is an excellent line. As BradFSU said below, the sound on this video doesn't do either line justice. NOTHING compares to the sound of a powerful drumline in the stadium. Both lines rock and I can say from watching other Clemson/FSU drumline face offs that both lines respect the other.
I'm an LSU fan and my money and my daughter go there......but sorry Fstdrum that diddy you heard at :19 is played by LSU. However, if you look at the sheet music, it's called the Bleu Raeders cadence and that's from the Bleu Raeders Drum and Bugle Corps and a lot of bands play our cadence. Nobody stole it from LSU!
But I wouldn't, because I've played many drum corps pieces, and lemme tell ya, some of them breaks with the inverted cheese taps at high-speeds can be a lot more complicated than this. And those guys still play it cleaner.
I second drumfreks comment...You need to do some research...FSUs School of Music is among the Nations Best. In its most recent survey of music programs, U.S. News & World Report ranked quality of the College of Music 12th in the nation and fifth among programs at public universities. The Opera program in the College of Music ranks fifth in the nation and third among programs at public universities according to the same report.
@Sexxonable In what possible way does clemson have more technical drumming? They sound like a really big high school drumline. They played a warmup as their second cadence....thats a joke. I've seen FSU in person many times and their technicality is far more superior than most college lines.
Clemson's cadences were cool. FSU's cymbal line... oh yeah. Except I see that their visual's were kinda designed around a female cymbal line, so that guy on the end looked pretty awkward during their second cadence.
First off, FSU has a pretty hot cymbal line. However, I think in the big picture Clemson wins the battle. I don't think the Seminole tenor line had a single helicopter from what I saw, and the snare line spent most of its time on basic rudiment rolls. Idk, it is tough to gauge a whole line from a video from one side, but judging from the tenors, Clemson won in my book.
i have captn cotton which is the first one they played and hatian tag which is the second one lol. my highschool plays them both. and ill take anything
I'm not gonna pick sides here; both lines were pretty sweet and played cool stuff. Two best bands in the ACC, if you ask me. But seriously, FSU, show some class! Luckily for FSU I'm not one to judge a band based on arrogant individual idiots; unfortunately it seems like they have some. Two damn good lines here, but Clemson was the only line that was just there to jam and have fun, apparently. Come on FSU, ACC bands are better than this internet bickering.
Take it from me...That was Good..You'll always get Nerdy comments from those who visit chinese restaurants and try to play a drum line on the edge of their rice bowl with their chop sticks.
I'm not talking about the pieces themselves, but the rudiments and notes they use are pretty simple. That's all. The arrangement isn't very complicated at all, and the execution is nowhere near perfect.
Love this...clean, hard, fun, EVEN stick heights, solid drumming, not as much show, more emphasis on what is being played, rather than showing off...would rather see this any day, than a "show" line.
And we're honored by those who choose to play our cadence .... In part or all of it. Ole Miss plays it too. Glad you spotted it though!
Can't wait to start school at FSU and see this stuff in person.

always good to see some friendly competition
FSU's second cadence was sick and they're Music program is one of the top
@igknightus you mean GA Tech? If so, i love the band too.
YEAH FSU. i love drumlines that are still and not so up-tight and formal. Drumming was a form of expression used around the world, and should still be that. and to me FSU won.
I'm apologizing for my previous comment (made actually by my younger brother). I appreciate both bands with high regards. =)
Tigers improved over their last encounter with the Big 8 but it is hard to compare with one of the best drumlines in America. Big 8-Literally blows your mind.
What was the last cadence called?
@cadillacgorilla whats wrong with corp style??
God damn do you hear FSU Bassline?
omg.. the splits on the bass drums for FSU,nice!
I love the first two ladies on cymbals of FSU.. lovely ladies..
Where they(FSU) playing a different version of double beat
What was Clemson thinking going against FSU.
i think the only schools that can hand with FSU are from smaller conferences, Western carolina and North Texas for example.
yeah i gotta give it to FSU hot cymbals, and that last one was just fun to watch.
why is that high school line drumming with FSU?

Indeed, they're so far and beyond.
@buzzcutjoe hell ya dude they are freaking good splits
FSU dude love how they played
@M3ssageT4k3n Its for the fans, and why not? to them its just flashy and loud.
God DAMN those FSU base players tore it UP with those split roles. Their base line alone would've destroyed Clemson.
If this was a yelling and dancing contest FSU would win but face it, Clemson won the DRUM battle hands down!!!
i like how time was set at 6:32 and slowed down by 6:41 #tempo
@jdog2123456 you're joking right
well i was there for one. standing to the left of this camera actually.

All of Fsu snares have either marched DCI or WGI.

God them fsu basses are gettin it all day!!. the whole drumline on point. clemson had no chance after their first run lol
But I wouldn't, because I've played many drum corps pieces, and lemme tell ya, some of them breaks with the inverted cheese taps at high-speeds can be a lot more complicated than this. And those guys still play it cleaner.
@m3ssageT4k3m Yea maybe college lines but if you could imagin DCI lines going up against each other, you'd probs take back your comment,
I thought Clemson won until I opened my eyes and turned on my speakers.
those goggles on that guy at the beginning...#swag
@DrPhilmobetta Highly doubtful....lol. I am a Clemson Tiger Band Alumn and FSU's drumline is raw...
they keep time my marching time (marching in place to the tempo) thats a first for me
Even without the obvious "homefield" advantage.....FSU OWNED Clemson on performance, though the Clemson routine as far as drumming was pretty tight.
ok, no homo here, but the guy for FSU on cymbals is so good at that ass shaking, that clemson lost right then and there, mad props to him
@daltonjparkes and is this clemson tenor player must going swimming after with those goggles.
fsu snares looks so fucking tight
@DrPhilmobetta yes they would with a rusty knife
I second drumfreks comment...You need to do some research...FSUs School of Music is among the Nations Best.

Big 8 Drumline: We're not just better, we're hotter too.
7:16 on is freaking awesome.
i know where im going to attend, look at those beautiful ladies
@RegBK The finest in the South!
KUDOS TO CLEMSON they have a great drumline and would tear up most drum lines............just not FSU's BIG EIGHT! Those guys are the standard.
ya stick heights dont matter in determining the winner of am informal drumbattle
@Indy1829 I def agree.. Lol i wish our drumline had hot cymbal players like that ;)
You were playing sequence and Haitian Hustle in high school i highly doubt that you must be talking about clemson
dem cymbal girls. Solid 7's.
@Sexxonable In what possible way does clemson have more technical drumming? They sound like a really big high school drumline. They played a warmup as their second cadence....thats a joke. I've seen FSU in person many times and their technicality is far more superior than most college lines.
Clemson got absolutely SMOKED by FSU! Wow, not even challenged!
I love seeing Clemson getting beat at anything
she went to my high school. she wasn't just the hottest girl in band. she was the hottest girl in school.
that one cymbal player on FSU's second cadence is majorly cute......the one that is closets to the Bass drums
rofl when the fsu cymbals began dancing the bass drummers were checkin them out loot at their faces XD
anyone else here some of LSU's cadance in the beggining around :17
And snares and basses
Clemson's cadences were cool.
FSU's cymbal line... oh yeah. Except I see that their visual's were kinda designed around a female cymbal line, so that guy on the end looked pretty awkward during their second cadence.
@MrTreyDennis2 man you speak the truth!
We didn't play it as a cadence...
Both were not too bad. Clemson wins cuz of the professional look.
both teams were sick.. but i tink the red did better
sick

Ik one oftheir cymbal players
Both drumlines sound like they use lions band tap offs sometimes
fsu was sick
i have captn cotton which is the first one they played and hatian tag which is the second one lol. my highschool plays them both. and ill take anything
the girls of the cymbals: the best of the show jeje XD
I'm not gonna pick sides here; both lines were pretty sweet and played cool stuff. Two best bands in the ACC, if you ask me. But seriously, FSU, show some class! FSU for sure!!
even though I am a Gator fan and I bleed orange and blue I'mma have to say FSU won that
@DrPhilmobetta think again.
Neither one is as good as USC's Spirit of Troy! USC has the best drumline and marching band. None can compare. Fight On SC!
Haha. Clemson played some of LSU's 'Bleu Raeders'.
Take it from me...That was Good..You'll always get Nerdy comments from those who visit chinese restaurants and try to play a drum line on the edge of their rice bowl with their chop sticks.
FSU had some hot Cymbalists
no fsu has the funkiest tenor line out there in college drumlines way cleaner than clemsons.
4:28 to 4:48 tenor epicness
Hey Clemson at :19 why did you steal LSU's cadence
in the world of drumming Clemson wins...in the world of college bands FSU wins. Drumming on both sides was the same just one put on more of a show
they have a right to be cocky
Cymbal players need to be in back of the snare line.
FSU was more entertaining, but Clemson played cleaner
no mmss..!
que bien se mueve la de platoss..!!! waa..!!! jaajaja
man fsu got a fine ass cymbal line....minus the dudes
hahahaha i like how that guy guy was like DOMINICAN! instead of haitian haha
must be.
fsu wins. they got hot cymbal players
I'm not talking about the pieces themselves, but the rudiments and notes they use are pretty simple. That's all. The arrangement isn't very complicated at all, and the execution is nowhere near perfect.
I'm feelin those "Sex Cymbals" for FSU! I'm starting to see a trend with female cymbal players and I like it.
Ok, So you play, we play, then you play, then we play, then you go home!
omfgwtfbbq clemson got murked... i wish our tenors had cowbells tho.
