Great idea! I never thought of this. I just let the dust cap stay caved in. Now I know how to fix a speaker in the future.

Thanks, clever solution! I need to do this on my KRK sub. If it works this video saved me a big repair bill!

Great video. I am looking on a way to repair a broken turntable dust cover, (it doesn't have to be pretty, just fixed), LOL, but I just had to watch this video. Awesome. Randy.

Hey how long did you heat it up for? Or how long should I heat it up for with a blow dryer? Your video is sped up and you’re using a different tool.
    Lemme know please..
    Thanks!! Great video!

you should be able to do it with a blow dryer, I used a rework station, might have been Overkill lol. just use your judgement. don't keep the heat focused on one spot,go in circles. Thank you..

I used a spray bottle of water to get the cap damp, then the sun will pull it back out, I assume a blow dryer would as well

@PAOverload thruoght pole vent...realy?? Besides the ported enclosure isnt protecting it from dust so your unaware of why the dust cap is actualy there it helps with coil cooling and protection from dust the pole vent also go straight to the dust cap

The vacuum might not rip the dust cap off if you put the vacuum nozzle on the dust cap before you power up the vacuum, Power it up for a split second and turn it off before pulling the nozzle away.

Just use a vacuum. Using any kind of heat gun on a dust cap is just asking for issues to happen with your voice coil (which is directly underneath). There's a line you can't cross with regards to temperature. If you do, pfffttt...
Why needlessly risk that when a vacuum works perfectly on its own.
