Great idea! I never thought of this. I just let the dust cap stay caved in. Now I know how to fix a speaker in the future.
Thanks, clever solution! I need to do this on my KRK sub. If it works this video saved me a big repair bill!
Great video. I am looking on a way to repair a broken turntable dust cover, (it doesn't have to be pretty, just fixed), LOL, but I just had to watch this video. Awesome. Randy.
Thanks it did really help me to fix my sundown
Nice trick man
el blower de pelo funiona?
que destornillador o que herramiento se necesita para poder desarmarlo?
May dust cap looks like a silver thin foil..how is that?
ha ha it worked for me, thanks Ray.
Nice, glad it worked out.
Hey how long did you heat it up for? Or how long should I heat it up for with a blow dryer? Your video is sped up and you’re using a different tool.
Lemme know please..
Thanks!! Great video!
you should be able to do it with a blow dryer, I used a rework station, might have been Overkill lol. just use your judgement. don't keep the heat focused on one spot,go in circles. Thank you..
I used a spray bottle of water to get the cap damp, then the sun will pull it back out, I assume a blow dryer would as well
Hi Raynel!!I took off one of my dust cap and i put that again but now the woofer is with a a little of distortion. Please help
You can blow it with compressed air
@PAOverload thruoght pole vent...realy?? Besides the ported enclosure isnt protecting it from dust so your unaware of why the dust cap is actualy there it helps with coil cooling and protection from dust the pole vent also go straight to the dust cap
I tried vacuum but I didn't heat it so that's the next thing I'll try.
does dented cone affect the sound quality?
No not at all...
@@mixinginthebox alright then. Thanks
Np.
the dustcap does affect the sound a bit
when its taken off sorry not including that lol
Great idea but why does the speaker need to be taken out of the cabinet?
You don't have to take it out.
Raynel Gonzalez Cool, wished I would have known about this method before the internet. Thanks for your post!
Will this work for tweeters? I Tweeter got sucks in.
+Dan O Qam Yasharahla Send me a pic of the tweeters if you can.
Funny thing, it fixed itself... idk what happened. lol
The vacuum might not rip the dust cap off if you put the vacuum nozzle on the dust cap before you power up the vacuum, Power it up for a split second and turn it off before pulling the nozzle away.
+Guava Squad True..
Good tip and great vid, the dust cap does however have an impact on the sound so please please , no pins
I just fixed it with hot glue.. if it works on cars why wouldn't work on speakers?
Fking boy use gluegun thing and i copies qnd ripped my cone out, omfg... but i just realized that it doesn't connect to any of wired inside, mybe glue it back might gonna help isn't? What type of glue can i use
My Grandson found it irresistible boop pushed it right in ughhhhhh hes 4 lol 😆
the rockit will be fine that subwoifer if that was the twiter that was bad voice dont worry non gonna happend just it looks weird
Just use a vacuum. Using any kind of heat gun on a dust cap is just asking for issues to happen with your voice coil (which is directly underneath). There's a line you can't cross with regards to temperature. If you do, pfffttt...
Why needlessly risk that when a vacuum works perfectly on its own.
Replace the damn thing…there like $2 each
